See also 'About Non-GAAP Financial Measures.' Revenue in the first quarter was $353.8 million, representing a 9.5% increase versus Q1 of last year and an increase of 5.2% from the previous quarter. Revenue less repair payments* in the first quarter was $339.9 million, increasing 8.8% year-over-year and 5.2% sequentially. Excluding exchange rate impacts, constant currency revenue less repair payments* in the fiscal first quarter was up 7.1% versus Q1 of last year and up 2.9% sequentially. Year-over-year, revenue growth driven by new client additions, the expansion of existing relationships, our acquisition of Kipi.ai, and favorable currency movements was partially offset by headwinds from the loss of a large Healthcare client and lower volumes in the online travel segment. Sequentially, broad-based revenue growth, higher transaction volumes, our acquisition of Kipi.ai, and favorable currency movements were partially offset by the impact of annual client productivity commitments.
Profit in the fiscal first quarter was $21.8 million, as compared to $28.9 million in Q1 of last year and $50.8 million in the previous quarter. Year-over-year, profit decreased as a result of increased expenses which are excluded from ANI*, relating to acquisition costs and amortization of intangibles from our acquisition of Kipi.ai, transaction expenses related to the proposed acquisition of the company by Capgemini, and share-based compensation including statutory employment taxes and insurance. Additionally, year-over-year profit was adversely impacted by increased investments and hiring in advance of revenue ramps for large deals. These headwinds were partially offset by higher volumes and favorable currency movements. Sequentially, Q1 profit reduced as a result of a $12.2 million benefit from a facility asset sale in Q4'25, typical business seasonality driven by Q1 annual client productivity commitments and wage increases, and ongoing investments. Q1 quarter-over-quarter profit was also adversely impacted by increases in expenses which are excluded from ANI* including acquisition costs and amortization of intangibles related to the acquisition of Kipi.ai, share-based compensation including statutory employment taxes and insurance, and transaction expenses related to the proposed acquisition of the company by Capgemini. These headwinds were partially offset by higher volumes and favorable currency movements.
Adjusted net income (ANI)* in Q1 was $46.0 million, as compared to $44.0 million in Q1 of last year and $66.2 million in the previous quarter. Explanations for the ANI* movements on a year-over-year and sequential basis are the same as described for GAAP profit above excluding changes in those items included in the ANI* definition presented in the 'About Non-GAAP Financial Measures' section of our financial schedules below.
From a balance sheet perspective, WNS ended Q1 with $225.8 million in cash and investments and $266.2 million in debt. In the quarter, the company generated $29.5 million in cash from operations, incurred $14.8 million in capital expenditures, and repaid $21.1 million in debt. WNS also repurchased 1,300,000 ordinary shares at an average price of $57.98, impacting Q1 cash by $75.4 million. First quarter days sales outstanding were 36 days, as compared to 36 days reported in Q1 of last year and 34 days in the previous quarter.
'In the fiscal first quarter, WNS delivered solid growth in constant currency revenue less repair payments* of 7.1% year-over-year and 2.9% sequentially. Our acquisition of Kipi.ai contributed 2.0% and 1.5%, respectively, and revenue momentum for this differentiated capability remains robust. In Q1, WNS also delivered adjusted net income* and adjusted EPS* ahead of company expectations and completed our authorized share buyback program by repurchasing 1.3 million ordinary shares,' said Keshav Murugesh, WNS' Chief Executive Officer. 'As we work toward closing the previously announced transaction with Capgemini, the WNS Board and management team are confident that this combination will better position us to address our rapidly evolving market, while unlocking new innovation and growth opportunities. Together, we are creating an industry-changing force uniting cutting edge AI and technology with deep domain and process expertise to deliver 'Intelligent Operations' for clients. This shared vision of our two companies, along with our shared values, will drive long-term, sustainable value for all our stakeholders including clients, employees, investors, and local communities.' Pending Acquisition by Capgemini On July 7, 2025, WNS (Holdings) Ltd. announced that it had entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by Capgemini. As noted in the company's July 11, 2025 press release, WNS will not hold a fiscal Q1 2026 conference call or provide an update to guidance for the fiscal year 2026 in light of the transaction. For further details and discussion of the company's financial performance, please refer to WNS' upcoming quarterly report on Form 10-Q for the quarter ended June 30, 2025, which will be filed with the SEC on or before August 8, 2025. The company also disclosed that the contract of CEO Keshav Murugesh has been extended through the earlier of August 5, 2026 or the closure of the Capgemini acquisition.

India should take a cue from Vietnam, Japan and insist written statement before announcing US trade deal: GTRI
New Delhi [India], July 27 (ANI): Referring to purported differences in understanding of US trade agreements and their clauses with Vietnam and Japan, think tank Global Trade Research Initiative (GTRI) suggested that India tread carefully as it negotiates its trade agreement with the US. GTRI, in a report released on Sunday, called for India to take a cue from the experiences of countries like Vietnam and Japan and insisted that India should ask for a jointly issued, written statement before acknowledging any agreement. There appears to be a contradiction in the understanding of the recently agreed-upon trade deals between the US and Vietnam, as well as the US and Japan. Citing a Japanese government document released on July 25, GTRI asserted that it revealed significant discrepancies between Japan's understanding of a new trade deal with the US and how President Donald Trump had portrayed it. "To avoid similar misrepresentation, India must insist on a jointly issued, written statement before acknowledging any agreement," GTRI suggested. Trump claimed on July 22 that the agreement secures massive Japanese investments, strong tariff protections, and guaranteed access for U.S. farm exports, including rice. However, Japan's official summary, published by its Cabinet Secretariat, describes a far more limited framework--still under negotiation and lacking binding commitments, according to GTRI analysis. Trump stated that Japan would invest USD 550 billion in the U.S., with 90 per cent of the profits remaining in America. But Japan's version tells a different story. It says the USD 550 billion includes a mix of equity, loans, and guarantees from state-backed institutions, not a lump-sum investment. Trump announced that Japan would significantly open its markets to US agricultural exports, including rice. However, according to a Japanese government document cited by GTRI, this limitation is restricted to procurement under its existing Minimum Access (MA) scheme, and only applies "depending on domestic demand and supply conditions." In effect, Japan reserves the right not to import US rice if there is no market need. Another area of divergence is found in automotive exports, as noted by GTRI. Trump claimed Japan would remove additional safety testing for US-made vehicles. Japan's document, according to GTRI, confirms that it will allow imports of American cars without additional testing, provided they meet Japanese road safety standards. "In other words, this is not a blanket exemption; US manufacturers must still comply with Japanese technical norms," GTRI inferred. (ANI)

Investors are flocking to the stock market's discount rack
Next Story Hannah Erin Lang , The Wall Street Journal Pricey tech heavyweights send some individual investors in search of bargains. Traders on the NYSE floor. Stock pickers aim to find undervalued, and overlooked, potential gems.. Photographer: Michael Nagle/Bloomberg Gift this article As recently as April, Chase Goodman plowed his extra savings into funds linked to stock-market indexes dominated by the world's biggest technology companies. As recently as April, Chase Goodman plowed his extra savings into funds linked to stock-market indexes dominated by the world's biggest technology companies. Lately though, the Detroit-based 29-year-old analyst at an auto company is reading corporate filings and tracking where the shares of companies trade relative to their book value. 'I'm looking for companies that are cheap," said Goodman, gushing over two of his recent picks: Photronics, a supplier for chip makers, and consumer-lender Medallion Financial. No one will ever confuse Medallion for one of the so-called Magnificent Seven tech companies. But after months of trading in response to the latest economic and geopolitical headlines, the mosaic of stocks that comprise the market are beginning to flash their differences. And individual investors like Goodman are taking note, eschewing megacap tech stocks for undervalued, and overlooked, potential gems. Yes, investors and analysts say, it is fun—and possibly rewarding—to pick stocks again. 'It's been this macro story, and most stocks are up having nothing to do with company management or earnings or sales," said Michael Kantrowitz, chief investment strategist at Piper Sandler. 'It has not been a stock picker's market, and I think it will be going forward." Sky-high valuations on the market's tech heavyweights have left investors in search of less-expensive alternatives. What's more, the Trump administration's trade policies haven't affected all companies the same way, creating winners (and losers) for research-driven investors to discover. Stocks in the benchmark S&P 500 index are moving less in lockstep now than at any point since February, when the market was still rallying on the results of the 2024 presidential election. Sam Yocum, 57, watched the rally in big tech stocks and began to grow skeptical that the artificial-intelligence boom that underpinned their rise was fully justified. In recent weeks, he picked up additional shares of power providers Duke Energy and Edison International. 'It's getting this kind of '90s, dot-com bubble feel to it," said Yocum, a California-based private-equity executive. 'I will be looking for other opportunities…the basic, fundamental good-value companies." He isn't the only one skeptical of richly priced tech stocks like Nvidia, Microsoft and Broadcom, whose shares are looking expensive relative to their earnings. Valuations are high in the broader sense, too: As of Thursday, the S&P 500 was 22.5 times its expected earnings over the next 12 months, according to Dow Jones Market Data, compared with a 10-year average of 18.8. Analysts note that valuations themselves can't predict market movements, and stocks can trade at high valuations for long periods. 'That being said, this is a massively, massively expensive market," said Lisa Shalett, chief investment officer at Morgan Stanley Wealth Management. Traders are watching for other signs of market froth as well, including speculation in meme stocks and a cryptocurrency frenzy that has driven the price of bitcoin to records. Some analysts warn that the recent wave of optimism stands at odds with a number of unresolved risks on the horizon in the latter half of 2025: The specifics of tariff policy aren't yet finalized, and the Trump administration's self-imposed Aug. 1 deadline for striking deals looms. There are also early signs that U.S. policies are lifting the inflation rate, which could prevent the Federal Reserve from making much-anticipated interest-rate cuts later this year. 'Stocks are not showing any fear about tariffs, they're not showing any fear about policy uncertainty related to stability or instability in Washington, they're not showing fear any longer about inflation," Shalett said. 'This is a market that's pricing [in] Goldilocks." Picking the 'right" stocks might not help investors avoid losses should the market endure a broad selloff. And hunting for bargains remains less popular than chasing the fastest-growing market names: Investors have added $25 billion more than they have pulled from value-oriented stock exchange-traded funds so far this year, according to Morningstar Direct data, compared with about $47 billion of net inflows into growth ETFs. But some investors are done chasing the crowd. Angel Diaz, a quality systems auditor in Lubbock, Texas, has been trimming his holdings in the Magnificent Seven companies since the start of the year, though they once made up more than half of his portfolio. Instead the 64-year-old said he is opting for less popular names such as AES, a utility, and Two Harbors Investment, a real-estate investment company he recently purchased for its quarterly dividend. 'I don't want to be dependent on the Mag Seven performing as they have in the past," Diaz said, adding that stability has become more important to him than growth as he nears retirement. 'I'll keep myself invested in the market, but at the same time take a lower-risk approach with less volatility." It's a good time to be a stock picker, he said, 'if you're doing your research."
