Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra may still lack this long-awaited upgrade — what we know
In a recent post, leaker Ice Universe states that the Galaxy S26 Ultra could feature the same 5,000 mAh battery as the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This isn't the first time we've heard this news, as Dutch outlet Galaxy Club reported the same thing only last week. If accurate, then this would mean Samsung hasn't updated the battery size since the Galaxy S20 Ultra in 2020, the first of Samsung's Ultra-branded phones.
However, while the lack of a battery upgrade is certainly disappointing, there could be some good news on the horizon. In a separate post, Ice Universe states that 'It is 100% confirmed that Samsung S26 Ultra will exceed the charging power of 45W!' Unfortunately, there's no specific number given, but we'd love to see Samsung competing with charging speed champions like the OnePlus 13, which offers up to 100W charging.
It's still early days when it comes to the Galaxy S26 series, so there's a lot that not even the leakers seem to know. However, there have been some rumors in recent months that give indications of Samsung possibly dropping the Galaxy S26 Plus from the range, instead launching the S26 Edge in its place.
On top of that, it appears that Samsung could drop Google Gemini as the default AI assistant, as Samsung comes close to finalizing a deal with Perplexity. This deal would mean that all Galaxy S26 models would come with Perplexity's app preinstalled. On top of the possible new assistant, it has been hinted that the Snapdragon Elite Gen 2 won't come with a price increase. As such, the Galaxy S26 could feature the chip without increasing the retail price of the phone. However, there are indications that Samsung could be launching certain models with the Exynos 2600 chip instead.
Samsung keeping the same battery would be disappointing for sure, but we have to take rumors like this with a pinch of salt. We won't know anything for certain until Samsung officially unveils the device, which is likely to happen in early 2026, if Samsung keeps to its usual schedule.

Our favorite flip phone for first-time buyers just got a sweet discount
Ryan Haines / Android Authority Foldable phones aren't cheap, but the Motorola Razr (2025) already stood out as the best-value flip phone of the year, especially if you're dipping your toe into the foldable world for the first time. It's a more accessible entry point than ever today, with Amazon slashing $100 off the price. Motorola Razr (2025) for $599.99 ($100 off) We said back in May that this was the one foldable we'd recommend to a first-time buyer. It's easy to get into thanks to Motorola's Hello UX interface, which makes excellent use of the outer display without overcomplicating things. You get a full app drawer, optional widget panels, and the ability to waste time with cover-screen games. Motorola Razr 2025 Motorola Razr 2025 The most affordable 2025 Razr A good looking 6.9-inch folding display is paired with a 3.6-inch external display to make up a compact folded phone, with few compromises at full-size. The Motorola Razr 2025 is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7300X and 8GB of RAM, a 50MP camera, and a 4,500mAh battery. See price at Amazon Save $100.00 The Razr also comes with a solid camera setup, sporting a 50MP primary and 13MP ultrawide sensor. Performance is solid for everyday use, and while it can't quite match the Galaxy Z Flip 7's raw power or Samsung's lengthy update commitment, it also doesn't cost $1,100. You also get faster charging, more storage, and a shallower display crease. Samsung's latest flip phone may be sleeker and more refined than ever, but if you're testing the waters of foldables for the first time, you don't need to blow four figures. The Razr (2025) hits a sweet spot of fun, practicality, and affordability. Amazon deals come and go without even the courtesy of a countdown clock, so don't sleep on the deal if you're interested. Apple's iPhone 17 Air faces a new threat — Samsung's latest leak hints at a super thin phone with epic battery
Apple is expected to launch its ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air in about a month, but new rumors about battery life could place the unreleased phone even further behind rival Samsung's own super-skinny Galaxy S25 Edge and next year's Galaxy S26 Edge. Regular Samsung tipster Ice Universe posted that the S26 Edge might have a significantly bigger battery than the S25 Edge. "The battery information I got for the S26 Edge is 4,400 mAh," they wrote on X. However, they also added a caveat that the there is "some conflict," and they are double checking the information. If the rumor is true, that would be a major boost over the 3,900mAh battery featured in the current Galaxy S25 Edge. A previous rumor had suggested the battery would only go up to 4,200mAh, an improvement though not as much as what Ice Universe is now talking about. In our Galaxy S25 Edge review, we found that the phone lasted 12 hours and 24 minutes in battery testing. That's two hours longer than the average phone but at least four hours shorter than what other Samsung models like the the Galaxy S25 Plus and Galaxy S25 Ultra can last. We also found that the S25 Edge's battery seemed to drain faster than other phones. The iPhone 17 Air may already find itself at a disadvantage if rumors about the battery on Apple's unreleased phone prove accurate. Reportedly, the phone is set to use a 2,800 mAh battery. Even with Apple having a history of featuring smaller batteries than its competition, that's a noticeably petite power pack. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has reported that iPhone 17 Air battery life will be "on par" with other iPhone models, which is encouraging. Apparently, Apple is counting on power savings from a new A19 processor plus the Apple-built C1 modem to help the phone last long enough in spite of its smaller battery. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. Both Apple and Samsung have been rumored to mulling a switch to silicon carbon batteries from lithium ion ones in future phones. Silicon carbon is supposed to have higher density enabling more charge in smaller cell sizes. Presumably, switching to the silicon carbon anode would enable the companies to slot in thinner batteries with similar capacity to lithium ion batteries they already use. But that move is further down the road. For now, phone makers have to grapple with the challenge of fitting enough battery into increasingly slender models. And it's a challenge that Samsung appears to be meeting if this latest Galaxy S26 Edge rumor pans out.

Samsung's Galaxy S25 FE is coming into focus, and here's what to expect
TL;DR A new leak has revealed a more complete spec sheet for the Galaxy S25 FE. The phone is expected to feature a 6.7-inch AMOLED display, Exynos 2400 chip, and 45W charging. It looks like the selfie camera will be bumped to 12MP, and the device will weigh around 190g. We've already got a pretty solid idea of what to expect from the Samsung Galaxy S25 FE, but the same leaker behind last week's RAM and storage leak is back with a more substantial spec dump. Let's look at what you'll be getting for your money. In a new post on X, leaker Arsène Lupin shared a comprehensive hardware rundown for Samsung's next Fan Edition phone. A few of the details had already been rumored, such as the 6.7-inch AMOLED display at 120Hz and the Exynos 2400 chip. Still, we've now got reliable indications of things like 45W wired charging, 15W wireless charging, and a 4,500mAh battery. The camera hardware looks largely unchanged, though the selfie cam has been bumped to 12MP. We'll have to wait and see if any actual photo quality improvements are in store. The same goes for the design — no sign yet of any big shake-up. Other newly mentioned details include IP68 water resistance, Gorilla Glass Victus, and a 190g weight, which seems reasonable given the screen size. None of this is mind-blowing, but it does help paint a more complete picture of the phone, which is also expected to ship with One UI 8 out of the box. The Galaxy S25 FE is expected to land sometime between late Q3 and early Q4, likely around early October if past launches are anything to go by. Unless Samsung has a few surprises left, this might be more of a refinement than a full refresh. Follow
