Cierra Ortega's Shocking Love Island Exit Revealed

Cierra Ortega's Shocking Love Island Exit Revealed

Buzz Feeda day ago
Love Island has a knack for slipping islanders in and out without causing commotion within the villa. And the latest person to get the axe is Love Island USA contestant Cierra Ortega.
During Sunday's episode of the popular dating series, the show's narrator revealed, "Cierra has left the villa due to a personal situation." No other information was given to viewers, and the rest of the islanders kept any and all conversations about her abrupt departure to a minimum.
This announcement came just one week before the Season 7 finale (July 13). Cierra was happily coupled up with Nic Vansteenberghe.
If your social media timelines aren't filled with Love Island chatter, then her exit might be a complete surprise to you, so let me fill you in on what's been going on behind the scenes:
Fans unearthed multiple posts of Cierra, who is of Puerto Rican and Mexican descent, allegedly using a racial slur that's been used to reference the appearance of a Chinese person's eyes or a generalization of an Asian person's physical appearance.
In one social media post from Jan. 2015, Cierra used the derogatory term to describe her face, and in a Feb. 2023 post, she used the same term to detail what her eyes looked like after getting Botox.
The posts eventually went viral, and she reportedly lost over 200K followers on Instagram because of them. A petition was later started to have her removed from the villa, and it has amassed over 17K signatures.
"Asian Americans have been in the United States since the 1800s," the petition creator wrote. "Since their arrival, Asians have been the victims of violent hate crimes, racism, and exclusion. Cierra's use of a slur against Asians is disgusting and inexcusable, especially the fact that she used it to describe her eyes."
"That slur has been used to demean and intimidate East Asians in America for hundreds of years. Even recently, during the COVID-19 pandemic, anti-Asian racism had many Asians fearing that they would be the next victim of a hate crime. Racism is racism, no matter who it is towards."
The comment section was filled with people sharing why they found her use of the word so harmful:
Well, Love Island seemingly heard the concern of viewers and acted accordingly. After Cierra was removed, her family shared a statement on her Instagram Story on Sunday, admitting that this has been "one of the most painful weeks" of their lives.
Some fans on X (better known as Twitter) even joked about how quickly producers got her out of the villa:
But this isn't the first time this season a contestant was forced to exit due to past usage of racial slurs. In fact, when this season first aired in June, a contestant named Yulissa Escobar was quietly removed from the show after two days of being in the villa, when viewers found social media posts of her using the N-word. She was one of the original cast members and one of the first women to enter the villa.
Fans have hinted at another current member of the show allegedly using a racial slur in the past, so this might not be the last time we see someone get the axe.
Love Island USA airs daily (except Wednesdays) at 9 p.m. on Peacock.

Love Island USA's Cierra Ortega Used Code Word for Sex

So the latest season of Love Island USA has been pretty wild. In more ways than one. And apparently there is a code word for the more intimate moments. And Cierra Ortega used that code word to talk about her sex life with Nic Vansteenberghe. Did you catch that? In case you missed it, Season 7 of Love Island has seen some of the wildest behavior ever. More than one couple have had sex in the villa and they've even talked about it on national TV. Wonder how that went over with their families? Perhaps that's why they decided to use a code word for intimacy. Although is a code word still a code word if everyone knows what it means? Cierra used the code word on the latest episode when talking to Iris Kendall. The two were having a chat following the re-coupling post Casa Amor. 'Did you hear me taking my journey?' Cierra asked Iris who is currently paired with TJ Palma. 'Well the journey was much longer this time than the first time.' And by longer she means 40 seconds instead of 30. Cierra teased more about her encounter with Nic adding, 'And we stopped for food on the way. Hotdogs and hamburgers were ordered. We both had a full course meal. Once we finished eating, we ended at a waterfall. It was beautiful.' In case you missed it, 'journey' is the code word for intimacy among the islanders. We learned this thanks to Hannah Fields. She was dumped earlier this season and recently revealed to US Weekly the sneaky way they talk about sex. 'We had a code name for intimacy,' Hannah shared. 'We would say, 'how was your journey? What was the journey like?' Huda (Mustafa) started it when she said something like, 'Oh, I had a journey. My journey went all the way.'' Hannah had her own 'journey' with Pepe Garcia. Which means that she, Cierra, and Huda have all taken a journey or two. In fact, the producers have been pretty overwhelmed by the cast they have asked them to tone down the 'journeys' for the camera. The other couples have yet to admit if they took any journeys ahead of the finale later this month. Love Island USA is available to stream on Peacock, with new episodes airing every day except Wednesdays. TELL US – WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE CAST AND THEIR 'JOURNEYS'? Love Island USA's Chris Seeley and Huda Mustafa Have Sex in the Villa

If you thought that it couldn't possibly get spicier on Season 7 Love Island USA, you would be wrong. Amaya Espinal and Bryan Arenales were chosen by their fellow Islanders to go to the Hideaway for some private time. Meanwhile, Chris Seeley and Huda Mustafa had sex in the villa. Several couples have done the deed in the villa, in close proximity to their co-stars, with cameras filming. The contestants have been so sexually adventurous this season that production reportedly asked the Islanders to calm their hormones. As if! During a recent episode of the series, Chris told Bryan that he and Huda had a 'hiccup' during the baby challenge. 'I truly appreciate her being vulnerable. I really do like her,' Chris said, before adding that he 'folded' the previous night. 'I wasn't going to tell anybody. [But] I couldn't do it anymore. I really tried [to hold out],' he explained. 'I just didn't want to tell the other boys.' In his confessional, Chris said, 'I feel like that was just a great step into our physical connection that we probably don't show in front of everyone else. It definitely made us feel stronger in our physical connection.' He added, 'That is really all I can say about that.' However, as you may recall, Huda previously had sex with her first connection, Jeremiah Brown. Plus, Pepe Garcia and Hannah Fields also enjoyed some sexy time in the villa before her exit. Do these people forget that they are on camera? Meanwhile, Cierra Ortega and her connection, Nic Vansteenberghe, also had sex in the communal villa. She even mentioned a term, 'journey,' that Huda coined as a code word for sex. I'm sure viewers will be hearing about more 'journeys' as the season winds to a close. Love Island USA is available to stream on Peacock, with new episodes airing every day except Wednesdays. TELL US – ARE YOU SURPRISED THAT CHRIS AND HUDA HAD SEX? Google drops a little treat if you search for 'Love Island USA' favorite 'Amaya Papaya'

A positive affirmation made by "Love Island USA" contestant Amaya Espina to herself has not only manifested into reality, but also onto the internet. The 25-year-old cardiac nurse better known as "Amaya Papaya" has been a fan favorite throughout "Love Island" Season 7. However, a specific self-affirming song she performed in front of the mirror has transcended the show. "I never said I was perfect. I never said I didn't have any flaws, But at least I'm pretty. And at least I'm a little funny. And at least I'm my own best friend," Espina sang on the show. The first portion of the quote now appears as a ticker tape pop-up message anytime someone Google searches "Amaya Papaya," followed by an emoji of the papaya fruit. "We love to celebrate fun moments in pop culture by creating delightful surprises when people come to Search looking for information about iconic TV shows, films and more," a Google spokesperson said in a statement to USA TODAY. Her moment has gone viral on social media, with one TikTok user saying the summer tune cemented her status as "the REAL peoples princess." Espina made the affirmation song after being unsuccessfully coupled with Ace Greene, Zak Srakaew and Austin Shepard. She is currently coupled up with Bryan Arenales, with many fans hoping the two can win the whole competition. Who is 'Amaya Papaya?' Amaya Espina, nicknamed "Amaya Papaya," is a 25-year-old New York City native and cardiac nurse. She has become a fan favorite on Season 7 of "Love Island USA" since entering the villa as a bombshell. On the show, where contestants must be in a couple or risk getting "dumped," she has coupled up with Ace Greene, Zak Srakaew, Austin Shepard and now, Bryan Arenales. While her fellow islanders have criticized her for being emotional and sensitive, much of the internet has nothing but love for her after resonating with her unapologetic self. On the show, Espina has emphasized the importance of her Dominican culture as the daughter of immigrants. "Both of my parents were actually born in the Dominican Republic and I'm the first generation to be born here," she said on the show. "I'm heavy, heavy on culture. Even when I have my kids, let's say my husband isn't Dominican, they're still going to know Spanish, they're still going to know the culture."
