Ava DuVernay's Array Sets Live Streaming Event With 9 Commissioned Artists On 5th Anniversary Of Its Law Enforcement Accountability Project
LEAP was launched in 2020 as a response to the murder of George Floyd by Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, a moment that catalyzed a global movement demanding justice and transparency in law enforcement. Rather than respond with a film or documentary, DuVernay activated a collective of artists across multiple disciplines to tell the truth about the police abuse of Black people through storytelling and creativity.

For the first time, all LEAP artists will come together in a virtual artist forum to reflect on their creative process, their work and the continuing need for art as a force for justice.
Moderated by Mercedes Cooper, LEAP curator and Array's EVP of Public Programming, the event will reflect on the legacy of LEAP's work over the past five years, and the ongoing importance of uplifting activist voices through artistic expression.
'LEAP was built on the belief that art can be a powerful tool to hold specific officers accountable,' said DuVernay. 'In marking this milestone, we honor the artists who dared to tell the truth, and the communities that empowered them to do so.'

Unreleased Beyoncé music stolen during 'Cowboy Carter' tour
Unreleased music by Beyoncé along with footage, show plans and concert set lists were stolen from a car in Atlanta rented by the singer's choreographer and one of her dancers, according to a police incident report. The theft of the materials, stored on five thumb drives, happened on July 8, two days before Beyoncé began a four-day residency at Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Beyoncé was set to take the stage Monday evening for her last night in the city. The Atlanta Police Department said in a news release Monday it has secured an arrest warrant for a suspect whose identity was withheld. Two MacBook laptops, Apple headphones, as well as luxury clothing and accessories were also reported stolen, according to the incident report. Beyoncé's choreographer, Christopher Grant, and dancer Diandre Blue told police they parked their rental car, a 2024 Jeep Wagoneer, at a food hall in the city at about 8:09 p.m. The pair returned to the car just after 9 p.m. to discover the trunk window had been damaged and two suitcases had been taken. Grant told officers that 'he was also carrying some personal sensitive information for the musician Beyonce,' the police incident report stated. The report identifies a possible suspect vehicle as a 2025 red Hyundai Elantra. Responding officers were able to identify 'light prints' at the scene, and security cameras in the parking lot captured the incident, according to the report. Officers canvassed an area where the stolen laptop and headphones were tracked by using the devices' location services, the report stated. Beyoncé kicked off her highly-anticipated tour in late April, taking her Grammy-winning album, 'Cowboy Carter,' to stadiums in the U.S. and Europe. The singer will end her tour with two Las Vegas nights in late July.

Unreleased Beyoncé Music Stolen in ATL Before Show Kickoff
Source: Shutterstock / Shutterstock In a startling incident, unreleased music and sensitive materials belonging to global superstar Beyoncé were stolen in Atlanta just days before the kickoff of her highly anticipated Cowboy Carter shows at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The theft occurred on the evening of July 8, inside a parking deck at Krog Street Market, where members of Beyoncé's team had parked their rental SUV. According to an incident report obtained by WSB-TV, the vehicle, a black Jeep Wagoneer, was broken into through the back lift gate. Two suitcases were stolen, containing not only personal belongings but also highly sensitive professional materials. Among the stolen items were watermarked unreleased music tracks, plans for upcoming show performances, and set lists for both past and future concerts. These materials are considered critical to the production of Beyoncé's tour, making the theft a significant blow to her team. The victims of the theft, identified as Christopher Grant, Beyoncé's choreographer, and Diandre Blue, one of her dancers, reported the incident to Atlanta police. In addition to the unreleased music and show plans, the thieves also made off with laptops, designer sunglasses, clothing, and a pair of AirPods Max headphones. The loss of these items has raised concerns about the potential for leaks or misuse of the stolen materials. RELATED: Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter Tour Has Social Media In A Chokehold Atlanta police have launched an active investigation into the theft and are following multiple leads. Using Apple's 'Find My' feature, investigators were able to track the stolen headphones to an undisclosed location. Officers conducted a suspicious stop in the area, where several vehicles were identified as potentially connected to the crime. One of the vehicles, a red 2025 Hyundai Elantra with a Georgia license plate, is now a key focus of the investigation. Surveillance footage from the parking deck has also been obtained, and detectives are working to identify the suspect or suspects involved. An arrest warrant has been issued, but police have not yet released the name of the individual under investigation. WSB-TV has chosen not to disclose the name of the person questioned until formal charges are filed. Detectives have also dusted the vehicle for fingerprints, though it remains unclear whether any positive identifications have been made. The investigation is ongoing, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward. The theft comes at a critical time for Beyoncé, who is in the midst of her Cowboy Carter tour. The Grammy-winning artist is scheduled to close out her fourth Atlanta show tonight at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. While Beyoncé's team has not yet commented on the incident, the loss of unreleased music and show plans could pose challenges for the production of her performances. Fans and industry insiders alike are expressing concern over the potential implications of the theft. Unreleased music is often closely guarded by artists and their teams, as leaks can undermine promotional strategies and impact the commercial success of future projects. The stolen materials also include plans for Beyoncé's live performances, which are known for their intricate choreography and high production value. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of securing personal and professional belongings, particularly during high-profile events. Atlanta police are using the opportunity to promote their 'Clean Car Campaign,' which encourages residents and visitors to remove valuables from their vehicles to prevent theft. As the investigation continues, Beyoncé's fans are rallying behind the artist, hoping for a swift resolution to the case. The theft has cast a shadow over what was meant to be a celebratory moment in her career, but many are confident that Beyoncé and her team will overcome this setback. For now, the focus remains on recovering the stolen items and ensuring that the Cowboy Carter tour continues to deliver the unforgettable performances that Beyoncé is known for. ‘Simpsons' voice actor Hank Azaria bringing Springsteen show to Elgin's Hemmens Center
Emmy Award-winning actor Hank Azaria, who voices Police Chief Wiggum, barkeep Mo Szylak and snobby nerd Comic Book Guy on 'The Simpsons,' is bringing his tribute to Bruce Springsteen to Elgin. 'Hank Azaria and the EZ Street Band — A Springsteen Celebration' will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 28, at The Hemmens Cultural Center. Tickets go on sale online this week. 'We're really excited about Hank coming to Elgin,' said Tony Lentino, cultural arts and special events programming manager for the Hemmens. 'The show should appeal to a large breadth of people who know him from his large body of work and to Springsteen fans. He has Springsteen's voice and mannerisms down pat.' In addition to his work on 'The Simpsons,' Azaria has appeared in numerous movies and television shows. Those include starring in the TV comedy 'Brockmire' and guest starring on 'The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,' 'Ray Donovan,' 'Friends' and 'Mad About You.' Movie credits include roles or voicework in 'The Birdcage,' 'Godzilla,' 'The Smurfs,' 'Night at the Museum: Battle for the Smithsonian' and 'Along Came Polly.' A big Springsteen fan, Azaria first put together a band to cover some Springsteen songs with him at his 60th birthday party. He became 'obsessed with singing as exactly like Bruce as he could. He practiced every day for about six months,' according to a news release about the act. 'I've never worked harder preparing for any role than I did in perfecting a singing vocal impression of Bruce,' Azaria said in the release. 'I think of it as a theatrical performance. I'm staying in character as Bruce even though I'm telling stories about myself. It's a performance piece, but I'm not a Bruce impersonator.' The band's first public performance was a sold out show on Aug. 1, 2024, at Le Poisson Rouge, a 700-seat venue in Lower Manhattan. The performance features Azaria channeling many familiar components of a Springsteen concert. However, while Springsteen is known for putting on marathon shows that can last three or four hours, Lentino said he was fairly sure Azaria's concert will be shorter. Lentino said as of Tuesday, the Elgin show was the only one booked in the Chicago area. Lentino said he and his staff had been eyeing Azaria's act for a while and initially though it might be better suited for one of the city's outdoor festivals. After watching online videos of his performances, however, led them to believe the show would be better suited to the 1,200-seat indoor venue, he said. Net proceeds from the show will benefit The Four Through Nine Foundation, which was founded by Azaria and is committed to social justice, education and recovery causes. 'I can't think of a better way to spend my time and use my passion for voices than playing these songs for a crowd that loves them and to lovingly pay tribute to Bruce, while raising money for folks who need it,' Azaria said in the release.
