Are they having an affair or just shy? The couple caught on Coldplay's kiss cam
A camera at a Coldplay concert near Boston sweeps the audience and picks out a canoodling couple.
But as they see their image beamed on to the screen the man and woman do not kiss and wave. Instead, their eyes widen in horror and they break apart: she turns and buries her face in her hands, he ducks down to the ground, perhaps willing it to swallow him.
'Oh what,' Chris Martin, Coldplay's singer, said from the stage. 'Either they're having an affair or they're very shy.'
Within minutes of the incident on Wednesday at the Gillette stadium in Foxborough, outside Boston, online sleuths were investigating and soon ruled out the second theory.
The man was identified as Andy Byron, the married CEO of Astronomer, a software development company, and the woman was identified as Kristin Cabot, its head of human resources.
The status of their relationship has not been confirmed but glee does not do justice to the speed with which the clip went viral and the schadenfreude it elicited. 'Busted!' was a common refrain. '#zerosympathy,' was another.
Byron sits on the board and has been head of Astronomer, which is based in Cincinnati, since 2023. Cabot joined in November 2024 as chief people officer. In a press release that announced her hiring, Byron called her a proven leader. 'Kristin's exceptional leadership and deep expertise in talent management, employee engagement and scaling people strategies will be critical as we continue our rapid trajectory,' he said.
In the same press release Cabot lauded the company. 'I was energised in my conversations with Andy and the Astronomer leadership team about the opportunities that exist here,' she said.
In a purported statement from Byron on Thursday the CEO apologised to his family and colleagues. However, the news site TMZ.com cited a company representative who said the statement was fake.
During the concert Chris Martin appeared to reference the Kiss Cam couple, and to anticipate the fallout. 'Holy shit,' he told the crowd. 'I hope we didn't do something bad.'

17-year-old charged with murder in paddleboarder's killing at a pond in rural Maine
Authorities in Maine said Friday they have charged a 17-year-old with murder in the death of a paddleboarder who went missing on a rural pond. The body of Sunshine Stewart, 48, of Tenants Harbor, was found this month on Crawford Pond in Union, about 80 miles (130 kilometers) north of Portland. The killing shocked and scared the community, where trips to the pond and nearby campground are a summer staple. Maine State Police said a teenager was taken into custody without incident in Union on Wednesday night. Police did not say initially why he was arrested or if he was charged, and they declined to release any other information about him as the investigation is ongoing. A person reached by phone who identified herself as Stewart's sister declined to comment. Friends of Stewart have posted online testimonials remembering her as fiercely independent and always up for a challenge, including outdoor adventures and building projects. Over the years, she worked in many roles, including as a fisherman and bartender, friends said. She renovated her home in Tenants Harbor, a neighborhood in St. George, said Bruce Twyon, a friend who knew Stewart from her time living in the Virgin Islands. That spoke to her self-motivation and spirit of 'getting things done and enjoying life every day,' he said. 'She was such a sweet person and very strong and independent, and took care of a lot of people,' Twyon said. The pond, in the 2,400-resident town of Union, is about 600 acres (243 hectares) and does not have public access. It is available for a variety of uses, including boating and fishing. The 100 Acre Island preserve in the center of the pond is a wooded island reachable by canoe, kayak or paddleboard from a nearby campground. The pond has numerous nooks and narrow areas, so it's possible there were other boaters on the water at the time of the killing who were unaware someone was in danger. Police said in a statement the arrest was the 'result of relentless investigative work' and that the teen was taken to Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland. Loved ones of Stewart — who was known as 'Sunny' by her friends — launched a GoFundMe page to help celebrate her life. The page said memorial service dates were being determined.

A LinkedIn post has been removed in the wake of the viral video showing the Astronomer HR head in an embrace with CEO Andy Byron at a Coldplay concert A post by software firm Astronomer concerning its Head of HR Kristin Cabot has been taken down, following her being caught in a clinch with CEO Andy Byron on a kiss cam at a Coldplay gig. The viral video has swept the internet after Coldplay's frontman Chris Martin singled out the pair for their awkward response to being filmed. The clip originated from Coldplay's gig at Boston's Gillette Stadium, where Cabot and Byron were seen arm in arm as Chris started featuring audience members on the big screen. Upon their uneasy reaction to being spotlighted, Chris quipped: "Oh what? Either they're having an affair or they're just very shy. I'm not quite sure." Since the incident, Astronomer's post on Cabot seems to have been removed. As per Us Weekly, the LinkedIn update was titled 'An Exciting Day' and heralded Cabot's appointment as the firm's Chief People Officer. However, the post has since been erased, rendering the URL defunct. "This post cannot be displayed," is the current message on the page, reports the Mirror. Despite the company's most recent LinkedIn activity being yesterday, comments on all its posts have now been disabled. The Mirror has approached Astronomer for a statement. The original TikTok video has gone viral, racking up over 17 million views, with viewers quickly spotting Byron and Cabot in the footage. Cabot was welcomed to Astronomer last November, receiving high praise from Byron for her "exceptional leadership and deep expertise in talent management". He further commented: "She is a proven leader at multiple growth-stage companies and her passion for fostering diverse, collaborative workplaces makes her a perfect fit for Astronomer." Cabot herself expressed being "energised in my conversations with Andy and the Astronomer leadership team about the opportunities that exist here". Cabot also remarked: "I prefer to think of my role as people strategy versus traditional human resources, as the real magic happens when you align the people strategy with the business strategy." Parole officer shot and killed in his office in front of horrified colleagues
A California parole agent was fatally shot in the line of duty after an assailant stormed his office. Joshua Lemont Byrd, 40, died after the attacker stormed the Division of Adult Parole Operations office in Oakland at around 12:50 pm on Thursday. The suspect then fled from the building but was later detained by Oakland Police Department (OPD) officers. He was identified as Bryan Keith Hall, who was recently paroled from prison, according to Fox KTVU. Hall, 48, has a conviction for assault with a deadly weapon for stabbing a man in the neck on Lakeshore - a neighborhood in Oakland - in a case handled by the OPD and the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Father-of-three Byrd was transported to Highland Hospital, where he tragically died. On Thursday evening, law enforcement officers from the OPD, Alameda County Sheriff's Office, CHP and state patrol lined up outside the hospital as Byrd's body - shielded by an American flag - was carried out and placed into an Alameda County coroner's vehicle. 'This is a heartbreaking loss. Agent Byrd served with integrity and courage — and we're forever grateful,' California Governor Gavin Newsom and Acting Governor Eleni Kounalakis said in a statement on Thursday. 'We are keeping his family in our prayers and we join the men and women of CDCR in mourning this tragedy.' Byrd left behind a wife and three children. A GoFundMe has been set up to support his family members and other loved ones. 'Byrd was a great guy and officer. He was very dependable and cared for all. He was a Navy veteran before he joined CDCR and Parole.' Byrd's partner Hugh Soloman explained on the GoFundMe page. 'Byrd started at CMF and was with us for a good long while before he transferred over to Parole. 'The purpose of the donation is to help the family in the uncertain and tragic time. The honor box will show his family how much he was loved and honored.' Over 500 people have donated to the GoFundMe, raising over $50,000 in total, with a goal of $75,000. The motive of the shooting remains unclear and has not been released at this stage. The CHP said in a statement: 'We do not believe there is any ongoing danger to the public.' Byrd's death is the first line-of-duty loss for CDCR since 2018. Flags at the state Capitol and Capitol Annex Swing Space will be flown at half-staff in Byrd's honor, according to Newsom's office. Byrd served with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation for 11 years. Hall was paroled from prison a week and a half before the murder.
