Pulling no punches, Ivanisevic said: "I told him not to play tennis right now.
"He needs to fix his back and get physically fit because physically he's a disaster.
"I can't understand how a player of his level can be so unfit. After that, he can think about playing tennis again."
Continuing his scathing assessment, Ivanisevic added: "I didn't expect him to do well.

"His situation is clear: if he changes certain things on the court, and above all off the court, he'll be fine.

Tennis 'cry baby' Tsitsipas sits down and refuses to play after umpire row as he's told 'it might help if you listen'
"To be honest, tennis is the least of his problems. The other stuff is much bigger. I'm sure Stefanos is a top 10 player. He's played two Slam finals, won Masters titles, the ATP Finals...he's a great player.
"The only question is how much he wants it. I believe in him being between fifth and 10th [in the rankings]. But if he keeps going like this, no chance."
Following his defeat to Royer, Tsitsipas revealed that he has been suffering with back issues since the 2023 ATP Finals.
The former two-time Grand Slam finalist has fallen to No26 in the world rankings, and no longer looks like a contender to win tournaments.

"I am very disappointed that I wasn't able to show my potential the way I deserve to play on the court. It's not easy. It's not easy.
"I feel like even if he gives me the most amount of confidence in the world, if I don't feel comfortable, if I don't feel good with myself and my body, then I can't really show anything."

Wimbledon line technology fails again as Taylor Fritz reaches semi-finals
WIMBLEDON'S UNDER-FIRE line technology system suffered another embarrassing malfunction during Taylor Fritz's quarter-final win over Karen Khachanov today. Swedish umpire Louise Azemar Engzell had to stop a point in the opening game of the fourth set on Court One when 'fault' was incorrectly called after a Fritz forehand landed well inside the baseline. The call of 'fault', rather than 'out', and positioning of the ball suggested the system was still tracking Fritz's serve as opposed to a rally and the point had to be replayed. Tournament organisers claimed the system had failed to reset because the ball from Fritz's first serve was still being retrieved when he started lining up his second. 'The player's service motion began while the BBG (ball boy or girl) was still crossing the net and therefore the system didn't recognise the start of the point,' an All England Club statement said. 'As such the chair umpire instructed the point be replayed.' Wimbledon chiefs said earlier this week that they were confident of avoiding further issues with the technology after a major error in Sonay Kartal's fourth-round defeat to Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the women's draw. On that occasion, the new system failed to call out when a shot by Kartal landed well behind the baseline. A fully automated system has replaced human line judges at Wimbledon for the first time this year, in line with the Australian Open and the US Open. Advertisement But there have been a number of glitches and concerns raised by other players about the technology, including British stars Emma Raducanu and Jack Draper. The controversy did not stop Fritz reaching his first Wimbledon semi-final as the American won 6-3, 6-4, 1-6, 7-6 (7/4). Khachanov was unhappy with the latest technological glitch and criticised the way the system has been used this year. 'Look, to be honest, I'm more for line umpires. Electronic line calls have to be very precise and no mistakes, but we've seen a couple. That's questionable why this is happening,' he said. 'Today I think there were a few calls. I don't know, very questionable if it's really touching the line or not. 'At the same time during one point, the machine call it just out during the rally. Sometimes it's scary to let machine do what they want, you know. 'What can I do? I can argue, and be angry on it or just continue playing. It's not in my power. It's already happened. I need to kind of accept it, and that's it.' Fritz will face the winner of defending champion Carlos Alcaraz's clash with Britain's Cameron Norrie in the last four. – © AFP 2025 Written by AFP and originally published on The 42 whose award-winning team produces original content that you won't find anywhere else: on GAA, League of Ireland, women's sport and boxing, as well as our game-changing rugby coverage, all with an Irish eye. Minted Matt, who loves to travel to the racetrack by helicopter, has landed tens of thousands of euro in prize money with his horses. In an exclusive interview with JP and Mullins teamed up to win the UK Topham Handicap Chase with Gentleman De Mee at But it was Matt's mount Lisnamult Lad who looked to have the race won when taking up the running after the last. Speaking to The Irish Sun, Matt opened up on how a loose horse derailed a dream triumph. He told us: 'I've eight horses now. It's my big interest. 'One (Lisnamult Lad) was second in a top chase in 'One of Mullins' horses beat him. He (Lisnamult Lad) had it won. You know when you come to the elbow? There was a loose horse. And he went across and brought him out that way. And when he came to the elbow, he brought him out the other way. 'And Mullins' horse just came up and took him under the line. He could have won by about three lengths. It was a tough one for Lisnamult Lad.' Massive Aintree Controversy As 20-Minute Stewards' Enquiry After Three-Way Photo Finish Sparks Outcry Gentleman De Mee, priced at 14/1, ensured the Mullins bandwagon rolled on in the Topham Handicap Chase at Aintree in April. Mullins' nine-year-old swooped late under jockey Mark Walsh to nick the win amid high drama in the closing stages of the race on the famous course. Lisnamult Lad's rider Johnny Burke touched down clear after the last and had victory in his sights — only for it to be snatched away from him by the riderless Ash Tree Meadow. CRUEL TWIST In a cruel twist for Matt's 21/1 shot Lisnamult Lad, the loose horse proved too tough to avoid for pilot Burke. He had to check his momentum, allowing rival rider Walsh to bridge the gap and emerge victorious by three-quarters of a length. But despite the bitter blow, Matt revealed he gets a buzz out of watching his horses in action. 'I've eight horses now. It's my big interest." Matt Rogers He told us: 'I go down the country and that. Jannik Sinner cancels Wimbledon training session amid injury fears
World number one Jannik Sinner has cancelled a practice session amid fears his Wimbledon bid could be scuppered by injury. The 23-year-old Italian hurt his elbow after slipping on the baseline in the first game of his fourth-round match with Grigor Dimitrov on Monday evening. Sinner reached the quarter-finals despite trailing 6-3 7-5 2-2 against the Bulgarian 19th seed, who had to retire after suffering an apparent pectoral injury. But Sinner, who needed a medical timeout during the second set, revealed afterwards he would need an MRI scan on his right elbow on Tuesday. He underwent the scan in the morning and a scheduled practice session at 4pm on Wimbledon's Aorangi Park was subsequently cancelled. "It was quite an unfortunate fall," he said on Monday night after his match. "I checked the videos a little bit, and it didn't seem a tough one, but I still felt it quite a lot, especially on serve and forehand. "I could feel it. So let's see. Tomorrow we are going to check to see how it is, and then we see. "Tomorrow we are going to check with MRI to see if there's something serious, and then we'll try to adjust it." Sinner, a three-time grand slam champion, is due to play American 10th seed Ben Shelton in the second match on Court One on Wednesday afternoon.
