MyAxis Group eyes LEAP Market listing to raise RM5.3m for expansion

FROZEN meat and processed meat producer MyAxis Group Bhd is set to list on the LEAP Market of Bursa Malaysia, aiming to raise RM5.29 million through a private placement of 44.1 million new shares at 12 sen apiece, implying a market capitalisation of RM40.9 million upon listing.
The proceeds will be used to repay bank borrowings (RM3 million), purchase new machinery, support working capital, enhance branding and marketing, and cover listing expenses.
MyAxis, through its wholly owned subsidiary KK Fresh Frozen Sdn Bhd, supplies frozen and processed poultry and red meat products, primarily to F&B operators and retail markets.
It also plans to commence operations at a new halal-certified processing facility by August 2025, which will more than double its storage and processing capacity.
The group posted a strong rebound in earnings, with net profit rising to RM1.75 million in the six-month financial period ended March 2025, up from RM0.10 million a year earlier, driven by higher-margin processed meat sales.
Promoters Datuk Tan Hwa Sing and Khoo Lay Tatt will remain majority shareholders post-listing, with 90% and 10% stakes respectively.
Looking ahead, MyAxis intends to pursue industry certifications including Halal, MESTI, GMP, HACCP, and VHM, and expand its processed meat line to capture growing demand in Malaysia and the broader halal food segment.
ZICO Evolve Capital Sdn Bhd is the approved adviser for the IPO. –TMR

Angkasa boosts cooperative movement via digitalisation and expansion

KUALA LUMPUR: Angkatan Koperasi Kebangsaan Malaysia Berhad (ANGKASA) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the national cooperative movement through digitalisation, improved product quality and the expansion of business networks across key strategic sectors. ANGKASA president Datuk Seri Dr Abdul Fattah Abdullah said the empowerment of cooperatives is now being driven in line with the Malaysia Cooperative Policy (DAKoM) 2030, National Entrepreneurship Policy 2030 and Malaysia Cooperative Digitalisation Plan 2030 to enhance resilience in the digital era. 'ANGKASA continues to strengthen the cooperative sector guided by the core pillars of DAKoM 2030, the National Entrepreneurship Policy 2030, and the Malaysia Cooperative Digitalisation Plan 2030, aimed at building the capacity and competitiveness of cooperatives, especially in today's digital landscape,' he said during the 39th ANGKASA delegates' general meeting here today. The annual meeting was officiated by Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Dr Johari Abdul and attended by over 5,000 cooperative delegates nationwide in a hybrid format at WTC Kuala Lumpur. Abdul Fattah also highlighted the encouraging progress of the retail sector's digitalisation through the BA100 programme, which has registered 3,591 cooperative outlets as of May, surpassing the initial target of 3,000. He said ANGKASA is targeting RM375 million in sales by 2030 through digital initiatives such as the BA100 programme, as well as government support, including an RM6 million allocation announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim following the Third National Cooperative Congress. By 2030, ANGKASA aims to involve cooperatives in various strategic ventures, including 850 under ANGKASAMart, 4,295 producing OEM products, 15 under CoopFarmasi, and 100 through CoopUmrah. To date, 42 school cooperatives have recorded revenues exceeding RM1 million, with two surpassing RM2 million. As part of efforts to enhance product competitiveness, more than 112 Stock Keeping Units (SKUs) have undergone packaging redesigns, while 148 SKUs have either received or are in the process of obtaining Halal certification since 2020. 'From 2020 to 2024, a total of 30 Halal certification development programmes have been implemented, involving 30 cooperatives nationwide, with 148 product SKUs successfully certified or currently under review,' he said. Meanwhile, Johari highlighted the vast potential of the cooperative sector, especially with membership now exceeding 7.2 million nationwide. 'I stress that cooperatives can help ease the burden on the people, particularly by offering goods at lower prices. When cooperatives are present at all levels, including rural areas, they can play a vital role in controlling the cost of living,' he said. He also encouraged cooperatives to tap into the agricultural sector as a new income stream and a source of food security, while urging them to leverage Malaysia's current ASEAN Chairmanship to foster regional partnerships. Additionally, he called for better use of the country's 1,000-plus National Information Dissemination Centres (NADI) as tools for community development and knowledge sharing.- Bernama

Chicken rice chain hails Sabah government's poultry decision

Published on: Saturday, July 05, 2025 Published on: Sat, Jul 05, 2025 Text Size: Hon said if Sabah's poultry industry could develop in a large-scale, standardised, and Halal-compliant manner, it would not only meet the growing demands of local Muslim consumers but also position Sabah for Asean and Middle Eastern markets. Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Government's decision to position poultry farming as a core pillar of its agricultural revolution reflects both foresight and firm commitment to food security. This initiative also brings renewed hope and opportunities for local food industry players, said the Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce (MCCC) Sabah. MCCC has been actively promoting the development of the local agricultural value chain and food production sector. Advertisement Committee member and founder of the A1 Chicken Rice restaurant chain, Benny Hon Fook Peng, said the vision outlined by State Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industries Minister Datuk Seri Jeffrey Kitingan to make Sabah the largest poultry-producing State is a strategically significant move. It would not only enhance Sabah's food security but also offer broad and long-term development potential for local F&B operators and rural communities. 'As players in the F&B sector, we've long struggled with volatile costs, inconsistent supply and heavy reliance on external sources. 'This policy direction is expected to boost local poultry supply, encourage more stable pricing mechanisms, and build a more resilient supply chain,' Hon said. He noted that consistent supply and quality of chicken meat are critical factors for the sustainability of chicken rice businesses. 'As a local chicken rice operator in Sabah, if we can obtain a steady supply of high-quality poultry – especially meat that meets Halal certification standards – we'll be able to maintain food quality and pricing while better serving a diverse customer base. 'Chicken rice may seem like a humble dish, but behind it lies the livelihood of countless business owners and daily consumers. What we serve is not just a meal – it is job creation, community economic stimulation, Halal food culture promotion, and a reflection of Sabah's warm and hospitable spirit.' Hon said if Sabah's poultry industry could develop in a large-scale, standardised, and Halal-compliant manner, it would not only meet the growing demands of local Muslim consumers but also position Sabah for Asean and Middle Eastern markets. 'It will create a new economic ecosystem around poultry farming including processing, cold-chain logistics, feed production, packaging, veterinary services, and more. As a committee member of MCCC Sabah, he also urged the Government to maintain close dialogue with industry players and business chambers when rolling out policies. 'For policies to take root, they must be grounded in reality. 'We hope the government will address the operational challenges faced by small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and introduce support such as financing assistance, smallholder training, Halal certification guidance, market linkage platforms, and logistics subsidies ensuring benefits at all levels.' He said MCCC Sabah will continue to play its role as a bridge, helping member companies connect with government resources, training opportunities, and Halal compliance standards. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news?
