Jay-Z rape accuser files to dismiss his case against her
Jay-Z's accuser - who says the Empire State Of Mind artist and Sean ' Diddy ' Combs sexually assaulted her when she was 13 - identifies herself as Jane Doe in court documents.
The case was ultimately dropped in February in what the 99 Problems rapper characterized as a 'victory.'
In the latest legal docs, Jane Doe said Jay-Z 'fails to state a claim upon which relief can be granted' in his lawsuit against her in Alabama, where he is also suing her lawyer Tony Buzbee, People reported after reviewing court docs.
Jane Doe told the court that the 24-time Grammy-winner is trying to sue her over 'privileged' claims made expressly to the court, TMZ reported Tuesday. She noted in her new legal filing that a December interview she did with NBC News was protected based on the aforementioned claims of 'privileged' claims.
Dailymail.com has reached out to Buzbee and reps for Jay-Z for comment on the story.

Jay-Z earlier this month filed the lawsuit against sued the Alabama woman who accused him of a 2000 sexual assault with Combs saying the 'lies' and 'extortionate threats' made by them led him to a $20 million loss.
Jane Doe this week requested that the case brought by the Big Pimpin' artist be dismissed with prejudice, the outlet reported.
The Empire State Of Mind artist accused the defendants in the case, in addition to attorney David Fortney, of 'malicious prosecution, abuse of process, civil conspiracy and defamation,' according to legal documents filed in Alabama and reviewed by Dailymail.com.
In the legal complaint reviewed by the outlet, the 99 Problems rapper, who is wed to fellow music superstar Beyoncé, 43, says the defendants 'were soullessly motivated by greed, in abject disregard of the truth and the most fundamental precepts of human decency.'
Buzbee represented the woman claiming the 24-time Grammy-winner and Combs sexually assaulted her when she was 13.
She claims the incident took place at an MTV Music Awards afterparty in September of 2000 - accusations which Jay-Z and Diddy have denied.
The case was dismissed in February, with the Hard Knock Life rapper saying at the time, 'Today is a victory. The frivolous, fictitious and appalling allegations have been dismissed. This civil suit was without merit and never going anywhere.'
Buzbee told Dailymail.com exclusively at the time, 'This new case alleges the same claims as the other one they pieced together and filed in Los Angeles.
'Like the one in LA, this new case in Alabama also has no legal merit.
He continued: 'Shawn Carter's investigators have repeatedly harassed, threatened and harangued this poor woman for weeks trying to intimidate her and make her recant her story.
'She hasn't, and won't. Instead she has stated repeatedly she stands by her claims. These same group of investigators have been caught on tape offering to pay people to sue me and my firm.'
Buzbee told Dailymail.com that he spoke 'with Jane Doe today' and 'it appears that the quotes attributed to her in the lawsuit are completely made up, or they spoke to someone who isn't Jane Doe.'
The attorney added: 'This is just another attempt to intimidate and bully this poor woman that we will deal with in due course.'
Buzbee wrapped up his statement to Dailymail.com, 'We won't be bullied or intimidated by frivolous cases.'
In January, lawyers for Jay-Z asked the court to sanction sanction Buzbee, alleging he did not personally meet with the woman ahead of filing the legal complaint, TMZ reported after reviewing legal docs in the case.
The legal team for the 24-time Grammy-winner, led by attorney Alex Spiro, said Buzbee admitted to not personally speaking with the woman ahead of filing the case, which is a major ethical lapse, TMZ reported.
Buzbee told Dailymail.com in response that 'what Spiro has filed, like everything else he has filed thus far, is utterly frivolous and meritless.'
Buzbee previously told TMZ that 'he did, in fact, personally interview the plaintiff, as did four other lawyers,' the outlet reported, noting that he said that 'anyone who says otherwise has their own agenda.'
Buzbee told Dailymail.com that 'with every frantic filing the defense in this case grows more desperate.'
He added of his case against the rapper, whose name is Shawn Carter: 'The rules apply equally to everyone, even those who wrongly think they are above the law. No one is above the law.'
Lawyers for Jay-Z said that Buzbee - whose Texas-based firm is in charge of more than 150 people suing Combs - didn't properly vet the woman accusing Jay-Z ahead of a December interview she conducted with NBC News in which she acknowledged inconsistencies in her story.
Jane Doe said in her legal filing she was living in Rochester in 2000 when she made her way to New York City and befriended a limousine driver who drove her to the party in a trek that took about 20 minutes.
Buzbee has said his firm is representing more than 150 people, both male and female, who claims Combs sexual abused and exploited them.
Many of Buzbee's legal filing include allegations of spiked drinks at lavish parties in locales such as New York, California and Florida.
Combs' lawyers have characterized Buzbee's lawsuits as 'shameless publicity stunts, designed to extract payments from celebrities who fear having lies spread about them, just as lies have been spread about Mr. Combs.'
Jay-Z and Combs gained fame in the 2000s, emerging as successful rappers and business magnates, with Forbes last year estimating Jay-Z's net worth to be $2.5 billion.
The artists have collaborated over the years, with Jay-Z appearing on Combs' debut album, No Way Out and Combs performing on Jay-Z´s sophomore album, In My Lifetime, Vol. 1.
Combs has pleaded not guilty to sex trafficking charges after his September arrest. He has remained incarcerated at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn awaiting a May 5 trial, after he was refused bail on multiple occasions.
Prosecutors in Combs' federal case say the music mogul used blackmail and violence in his efforts to silence victims.
Among the claims made against the entertainer is that he persuaded women to participate against their will in group sexual exhibitions referred to as 'Freak Offs.'
The Can't Nobody Hold Me Down performer remains in federal custody nearly five months after his September 16 arrest in Manhattan in connection with sex trafficking and racketeering charges.
Combs, who is also charged with transportation to engage in prostitution, has made a trio of attempts in vain to be granted bail, amid concerns from the court he would attempt to flee or tamper with his case.
Prior to his arrest he was in the headlines for much of 2024 year after raids on multiple properties in March; and video of him assaulting Cassie surfacing on CNN in May.
Lawyers for Combs - who has denied all of the claims against him - issued Dailymail.com a statement last month in response to the litigation their client is involved in.
'No matter how many lawsuits are filed - especially by individuals who refuse to put their own names behind their claims - it won't change the fact that Mr. Combs has never sexually assaulted or sex trafficked anyone - man or woman, adult or minor,' attorneys for Combs said.

Love Island host takes brutal swipe at Harry and says he ‘held Shakira back' from winning show
A LOVE Island host has taken a swipe at Harry and says he 'held Shakira back' from winning the show. Last night viewers watched as Toni Laites and Cach Mercer won the latest series of the ITV2 reality show. 5 5 After weeks of drama in the villa, the series came to a close yesterday with a battle between Toni & Cach, Shakira Khan & Harry Cooksley, Angel Swift & Ty Isherwood and Yasmin Pettet & Jamie Rhodes. Many fans thought Shakira had it in the bag, but after Harry's villa antics some viewers speculated that the pair wouldn't win because of him. This is a sentiment that Aftersun host Sam Thompson appeared to agree with. 'Shakira was slightly held back by Harry yeah, but do you know what he had a bit of a personality transplant at the end. 'Now, I think he's madly in love with her and that won't change. They'll come out and he'll see how well she's doing and probably even more in love with her.' Sam, who spoke to The Sun on behalf of M&Ms Couch Confessions, added: 'I think they'll go strong for a while. 'She could've won it, but I think Toni and Cach are amazing.' The 33-year-old threw his full support behind winners Toni and Cach, adding: 'I loved his tears. I know it sounds weird but I love that he showed that emotion. 'He also would never look at her when talking to her, which I found so interesting. I think he's really shy, but I think that's really endearing and you can tell he's just a nice guy. 'It's good to see nice guys do well who don't start as the OG's. He doesn't have to be the life of the party, and he wasn't the most entertaining person in the world, but he was just a lovely guy.' Sam, who listed Love Island as his favourite TV show ever, also spoke about the divide between the girls in the villa. Millions of viewers watched the likes of Toni Laites and Shakira Khan clash with Helena and Meg Moore. Things got especially heated when Harry Cooksley's head was turned back to Shakira after he made his partnership with Helena 'exclusive'. Sharing his thoughts on the matter, Sam told us: 'You're going to get all of that happening. 'I went into the house a few days ago and it's small. You're on top of each other and you know how it is, they'll get out and all be best of pals. 'They'll have a WhatsApp group, someone will leave it first, but they're all pals.' The Aftersun star wasn't too sure which couple will be the first to split, but was adamant that Yasmin was his favourite Islander of the series. He continued: 'Do you think it'll be Meg and Dejon? I do think they've got something to prove now. I don't think they'll break up any time soon. 'And I think we've got some really strong couples. Yas had an amazing story arc, at the start she was risque and I love now that we've seen a little bit of warmth and heart. 'She was my favourite Islander.' On the topic of TV, Sam was chatting to The Sun about all things telly while enjoying some M&M'S, to launch Couch Confessions, a playful new pop-up experience coming to Battersea on 5th August, built around Britain's funniest (and most relatable) TV-watching habits. He opened up on his own TV watching habits, saying: 'I'm a pauser, I'm a talker, I'm a sub-titler, I'm a tea maker, I'm a fiddler.' The 33-year-old also said he was keen to buy a slanket, which boasts the unique features arm holes, foot pockets, and areas for snacks, so he could share it with his cats. Asked if his best mate Pete Wicks would be accompanying him in the slanket, Sam was quick to say: 'I'm not sharing it with anyone at the moment, it'll just be me and my cats in the slanket.' M&Ms Couch Confessions, it's more fun together. 5 5 5

Freakier Friday review: Finally, a true comeback for Lindsay Lohan and Disney sequels
It's also a victory lap for Oscar-winner Jamie Lee Curtis, who is at the top of her slapstick game. Having been shunned from Hollywood's serious side for getting her start as a scream queen, she had her own renaissance with Everything Everywhere All At Once. Watching Curtis, 66, play a pouting teenager obsessed with getting her cleavage out won the biggest laughs from me. The scene where she does a supermarket sweep of the old people's aisle in the pharmacy had me in stitches, even though home enema kits and adult nappies aren't usually comedy fodder.
