MSDF to launch its National Strategy 2025-2030 on Sunday
DOHA: Under the auspices of Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, the Ministry of Social Development and Family (MSDF) will launch on Sunday, its new National Strategy for the period 2025-2030, under the theme: 'From Care to Empowerment'.
This strategy reflects the Ministry's commitment to enhancing the quality of life in Qatari society by establishing a comprehensive, sustainable social services system that aligns with the State's aspirations and Qatar National Vision 2030.
The strategy will introduce a series of key initiatives aimed at improving social services, developing the necessary infrastructure, and supporting target groups. It also seeks to strengthen partnerships between the public and private sectors to drive development projects forward.
At its core, the strategy focuses on reinforcing family cohesion, promoting social justice, and raising living standards across society. It will offer a variety of programs, including family counseling and support services, parental education and awareness campaigns, and initiatives to promote mental health—contributing to the creation of a stable, adaptable family environment.
A central pillar of the strategy is the empowerment of Qatari women, supporting their active participation in economic and social spheres, and encouraging their leadership and decision-making roles. It will also prioritize supporting vulnerable groups, particularly persons with disabilities, by enhancing social integration initiatives and expanding service offerings in a manner that upholds dignity, justice, and equity.
The strategy places strong emphasis on fostering community engagement by empowering civil society organizations, promoting a culture of volunteerism, and encouraging sustainable charitable efforts. Additionally, it seeks to elevate citizens' living standards through economic empowerment programs, supporting productive families, and improving their overall quality of life.
The launch of this strategy underscores the State of Qatar's steadfast commitment to sustainable social development and the creation of a prosperous society grounded in empowerment, participation, and social justice.

Protecting children's right to education is important: Qatar
QNA New York Qatar has emphasised the importance of promoting and protecting children's right to education, especially in countries affected by conflict, highlighting its leading efforts in this field, which have received international recognition. This came in Qatar's statement delivered by Permanent Representative of Qatar to the United Nations HE Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al Thani, during the UN Security Council's open debate on effective strategies to end and prevent grave violations against children in armed conflict, held at UN headquarters in New York. She referred to Qatar's key partnerships with the United Nations, which reflect the country's commitment to supporting international efforts to protect children affected by armed conflicts. She pointed to Qatar's hosting and support of the Analysis and Outreach Hub of the Office of the Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict, noting that the centre continues to play a vital role in advancing child protection efforts in conflict areas. She also noted that this year marks the 20th anniversary of Security Council Resolution 1612 (2005), which was a landmark step and solid framework for improving the protection of children affected by armed conflict. It led to the creation of a monitoring and reporting mechanism focused on children and armed conflict. She stressed that all commitments must now be translated into concrete actions. Sheikha Alya expressed Qatar's deep concern over the increasing number of grave violations against children, citing the UN Secretary-General's report that said violence against children in armed conflict reached its highest level in 2024, and added that children have borne the brunt of relentless hostilities and indiscriminate attacks. She also strongly condemned the grave violations of international humanitarian law committed by the Israeli occupation against children in the Gaza Strip, calling on the international community to urgently act to compel Israel to comply with international laws, end its brutal war on Gaza immediately, and address the resulting catastrophic humanitarian conditions. She said that it was extremely alarming what the report documented regarding the scale of grave violations against children in the occupied Palestinian territories, particularly the widespread use of explosive weapons in densely populated areas, the sharp increase in violations in Gaza, and the escalation of violence in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem. The Qatari emphasised that it is absolutely unacceptable for children to remain victims of grave violations in ongoing conflicts, and underscored the importance of ensuring their protection in such areas. Sh expressed her appreciation for Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations for Children and Armed Conflict Virginia Gamba, praising her tireless efforts and extensive expertise.

QNA Doha The Behavioural Healthcare Centre (Daam), member of the Qatar Social Work Foundation, has concluded its awareness campaign at a shopping mall in Doha, drawing significant engagement from diverse segments of the community. The campaign aimed to introduce the public to the centre's services and diverse programs, while promoting greater societal awareness about the importance of mental and behavioural health. The initiative adopted an inclusive approach, targeting all age groups. The campaign featured several specialized booths, including an interactive children's corner offering educational games, guided colouring sessions, and the distribution of educational storybooks produced by the centre. Pakistani community bids farewell to outgoing Bangladesh envoy
Tribune News Network Doha The outgoing Ambassador of Bangladesh to Qatar, HE Nazrul Islam, acknowledged that farewells remain emotionally difficult even after 31 years of diplomatic service. He spoke candidly about the personal connections he formed in Qatar, crediting the country's warmth and the vibrant camaraderie of the South Asian diaspora for making him feel at home, despite being away from his own family. The ambassador's spouse currently serves as the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Canada, while their children also live overseas — allowing him to dedicate himself fully to his responsibilities in Qatar. Ambassador Nazrul Islam was speaking at a farewell breakfast reception hosted by the Pakistani community as part of its Culinary Diplomacy Forum Series at Sarhad Premium Restaurant. The event brought together diplomats, dignitaries and leaders from the Pakistani and Bangladeshi communities to celebrate his tenure and bid him farewell, as he prepares to assume his new post as Bangladesh's Ambassador to Russia. Coordinated by veteran journalist Ashraf Siddiqui with the support of Pakistani community leaders, the gathering featured tributes and expressions of appreciation. Ambassador Islam thanked Siddiqui and the organising team for their hospitality, describing such events as important opportunities to strengthen goodwill and cross-community friendship.
