Fahadh Faasil, Arjun Das thriller Torpedo to roll from year-end, says Thudarum's Tharun Moorthy
Talking about his new film, the Saudi Vellakka director said, 'My next project is with Fahadh Faasil and Arjun Das. We just announced the project in fact. It's titled Torpedo and is a kind of thriller that has been written by my colleague Binu Pappu, who is an actor and associate director. We have a great working relationship. The music is by Sushin Shyam, Vivek Harshan is the editor and the cinematographer is Jimshi Khalid. Ashiq Usman is the producer. We will start shooting the film at the end of the year.'
Torpedo also features actors Naslen and Ganapathi. The film's production design is being done by Gokul Das, while Mashar Hamsa is handling costume design. There will be some stunning action sequences that will be choreographed by Supreme Sundar.
Writer Binu Pappu has worked with Moorthy on his first film Operation Java as an actor and as an associate director and actor in Moorthy's second film, Saudi Vellakka. In 2022, Binu Pappu had told media that he was working on a screenplay that will be directed by Moorthy and it has come to fruition now.
Given that Thudarum has grossed more than ₹130 crore in nine days worldwide, there is a lot of excitement about his next film with Fahadh Faasil. Fahadh had a good 2024 where he delivered numerous hits including Aavesham and Pushpa 2. Right now, the Tamil audience is looking forward to his Maareesan which also stars Vadivelu and is set to release in July. His Malayalam film Odum Kuthira Chadum Kuthira, also produced by Ashiq Usman, is likely to release in September.

Reexploring verses of Gita
In commemoration of Guru Aradhana Day and the 75th anniversary of Chinmaya Mission, the Chennai chapter of the organisation presented a distinctive musical and visual interpretation of 'Versification of the Bhagavad Gita in Tamil'. Held at the Chinmaya Heritage Centre in Chetpet, this Sunday evening was a blend of sacred ritual, artistic innovation, and spiritual homage to Swami Chinmayananda's legacy. The programme opened with a traditional puja and the chanting of Sanskrit shlokas, setting a reverent tone. Among the audience were devotees, artists, dignitaries, and members of the Chinmaya Vidyalaya community — including faculty, students, and parents — all gathered to witness the felicitation of the team behind the initiative. Politician Ram Mahadev was also present at the event. Spearheaded by Swami Mitrananda, the Tamil versification was released a week earlier by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Gangaikonda Cholapuram. The project was undertaken by a team of seven to eight Tamil language teachers from various branches of Chinmaya Vidyalaya. 'Even I used to chant all the verses earlier during pujas and whenever Swami would recite them,' said Gayathri, one of the Tamil teachers who was part of the team. 'But I didn't fully grasp the meaning or retain them. This Tamil versification brought us closer to the essence of the Gita. That connection is what kept us going even after more than a year, without stepping back. One of the contestants on the reality TV show, Gizele Thakral, spoke to Hindustan Times right before she entered the house. Interestingly, Gizele was also a wildcard contestant on Season 9 of the Salman Khan-hosted show Bigg Boss in 2015. She talks about returning to the show a decade later, her fondness for Mohanlal, why she's better prepared to win the show this time around and more. Ask her if the diktat to speak in Malayalam on the show wouldn't be a language barrier, and she says, 'Not at all! Not many people know it, but I'm half Malayali. My mom has always wanted me to do something in the language. This felt like the perfect opportunity to honour that wish. I'm really looking forward to connecting with my Keralite roots on the show.' In fact, Gizele even grew up watching Mohanlal's films and has watched the previous season of Bigg Boss Malayalam for him. 'I've grown up watching Mohanlal's films. He's truly a legendary actor, and his screen presence has always been inspiring. I watched the last season as well, and I feel he brings a wonderful sense of calm and wisdom to the show. He's a patient and supportive host who genuinely guides the contestants rather than just presenting the show. I'm really looking forward to experiencing his energy and mentorship this season, too,' she rounds off.
