Bomb Threat on Gulf Air Flight Declared Hoax - No Disruption at Kuwait Airport
The DGCA earlier reported that the threat was received on Sunday, June 8, involving Gulf Air flight GF213 en route to Kuwait as part of its regular schedule. Authorities responded immediately per established security protocols.
In a statement, the DGCA noted that the aircraft landed safely, and all standard procedures for dealing with such incidents were executed in full coordination with the Ministry of Interior and other relevant agencies. Passengers were safely evacuated from the plane without incident. DGCA spokesperson Abdullah Al-Rajhi confirmed that all passengers were moved to an isolated lounge as a precautionary measure and are in good health. He assured the public that no negative impact resulted from the incident.
'All passengers are currently undergoing routine security checks in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior and airport authorities,' Al-Rajhi said. 'These steps are in place to ensure the safety of passengers, crew members, and airport personnel, as well as to verify that the aircraft poses no further risk.' Scheduled flights at the airport remain unaffected, and operations are proceeding as normal.
The DGCA, in partnership with security agencies, continues to monitor the situation closely and is following all applicable regulations and safety procedures. Authorities have detained the individual responsible for the false report and have initiated appropriate legal actions. He was found to have used these companies to illegally register expat workers and sell visas. A total of 56 workers were registered under these firms, including three violators of residency laws and three who had breached the terms of their visas. Investigators also discovered that some workers were employed by entities other than those sponsoring their residency. Upon being summoned and confronted with the evidence, the accused confessed to facilitating the issuance of residency permits in exchange for payments ranging from KD 350 to KD 1,200. He admitted receiving these sums through two intermediaries (one Syrian and one Indian) without the workers actually being employed. All individuals involved have been referred to the appropriate legal authorities for further action. The General Department of Residence Affairs Investigations emphasized its continued commitment to intensifying crackdowns on human trafficking. Improper storage, labeling land Kuwait cooperatives in trouble
KUWAIT CITY, July 20: The committee tasked to follow up on the implementation of Ministerial Resolution No. 31/2025 conducted a field inspection tour with the participation of representatives from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. In a press statement, Committee Chairman and Cooperative Supervisor Yousef Al-Jafour revealed that the inspection of cooperatives in Farwaniya and Hawally governorates resulted in the issuance of several judicial seizure orders against cooperatives proven to have violated the resolution, particularly Article Eight, which is related to cleanliness and quality. He said the violations include poor storage of agricultural products that led to spoilage and the formation of molds, in addition to improper display methods and the failure to replenish goods regularly. He affirmed that the confiscated items will be referred to the Investigations Department at the Ministry of Interior, and then to the Misdemeanor Judge, indicating the fine may reach KD500. He stressed the need to put labels showing the country of origin, weight, and price to avoid violations. He explained that Law No. 24/1979, amended by Law No. 118/2013, grants the Ministry of Social Affairs the authority to monitor the work of cooperatives. He stated that 'Ministerial Resolution No. 46T/2021 stipulates gradual progression of penalties, ranging from a warning to the suspension of transactions and the labor file at the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM).' He also disclosed that intensive monitoring, since the issuance of Administrative Resolution No. 1650/2025 on supporting the promotion of local products, resulted in a decline in violations and an increase in the percentage of local vegetable purchases from 46 percent in June 2024 to more than 70 percent at present. He added the ministry is studying a new mechanism to enhance the prioritization of local products in cooperatives, as per the directive of Assistant Undersecretary for Financial, Administrative and Cooperative Affairs Dr. Sayed Issa.

Gunmen kill 2 Indians and abduct third in Niger
NIAMEY, Niger, July 20, (AP): Gunmen killed at least two Indians and abducted a third during an attack in Niger's southwest Dosso region, according to Indian authorities, the latest such violence targeting foreigners in Niger's conflict-battered territories. The Indian Embassy in Niger said in a statement on X on Friday that the attack occurred on Tuesday, and that it was in touch with local authorities to repatriate the bodies of the victims and ensure the safe release of the kidnapped individual. Local media in Niger identified the victims as workers at a construction site in Dosso, located 140 kilometers (87 miles) from the country's capital of Niamey. Foreigners are increasingly becoming targets of armed groups in Niger. Several of them have been kidnapped this year, including an Austrian woman who has lived in Niger as an aid worker for more than 20 years, a Swiss woman seized from her home in April and five Indian workers, also in April.
