A viral video taken from the tracks of the East-West Line has gotten the attention of SMRT and the police.
Stomper Jasper alerted Stomp to the video posted on June 10 by @singapura.legends on Instagram.
Also posted on other social media platforms like Facebook, the video showed an MRT train in operation at night, right in front of the trespassing video-taker, who approached the moving train just an arm's length away.
One comment read: "It's all fun and games until you touch the third rail."
In response to a Stomp query, SMRT Trains president Lam Sheau Kai said SMRT is aware of the incident.
"The video footage was captured between Simei and Tanah Merah stations where nearby construction works are ongoing for new viaducts connecting to the future East Coast Integrated Depot (ECID)," said Mr Lam.
"We take a serious view of this incident, as track trespassing poses severe safety risks.
"Such reckless actions not only endanger the individual but can also cause service disruptions, affecting many commuters.
"When emergency brakes are applied, there is also a risk of causing injury to commuters onboard the train.
"We have reported the incident to the police and are co-operating with their investigation."
When contacted by Stomp, police confirmed that a report was lodged, adding that investigations are ongoing.

Jealous Indiana Boyfriend Killed Girlfriend's New Beau After Finding Them in Bed Together

An Indiana man was arrested months after fatally shooting another man, and the woman believed to be in the middle of it all said the motive behind the alleged killing was jealousy. Jeremy Jett, 19, was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday after he was charged with murdering 26-year-old Darius Timberlake in April. Jett Opened Fire on Timberlake After Finding Him in Bed with His Girlfriend According to court documents, Jett allegedly opened fire on Timberlake after finding him in bed with Jett's girlfriend. In the court record, police said that Jett's girlfriend told them that he was "jealous." Police responded to reports of a shooting at a home in Lawrence, Indiana, at around 3:30 a.m. on April 23. When officers arrived at the scene, they found Timberlake dead at the scene with gunshot wounds. Local news reports stated at the time that a person of interest was detained for questioning but did not reveal the individual's identity or whether that person was a suspect. Just over two months later, Jett was arrested and charged with Timberlake's murder. Prosecutors said that Jett showed up at the home of his girlfriend to find her in bed with another man. That man was Timberlake, and Jett allegedly pulled a gun on him. The two men reportedly fought over the gun before Jett fired the fatal shots. Jett Claimed the Shooting was an Accident, Told a Friend He was Going to Claim Self-Defense Court documents stated that Jett waited more than half an hour before calling 911 and then claimed the shooting was an accident. When police spoke to Jett's girlfriend, she had a different telling of the apparent altercation. According to the probable cause affidavit, she told police that she did not believe the shooting was an accident. She stated that Jett was "jealous and accused her of cheating." When he found her in bed with Timberlake, he repeatedly asked her, "Why are you laid up next to him?" An investigation into Jett's social media activity also raised suspicion. According to the probable cause affidavit, Jett allegedly told a friend on Instagram before he was arrested on Monday that he was going to claim that he shot Timberlake in self-defense. Jett was charged with one count of murder and is being held at the Marion County Jail without bond. He was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.

Musang King durians for $1.99? Beware of such scams where victims have lost $48,000

Advertisements promoting cheap food items on social media might be phishing scams, according to the police. PHOTO: SINGAPORE POLICE FORCE Musang King durians for $1.99? Beware of such scams where victims have lost $48,000 Beware of advertisements promoting cheap food items on social media as they might be phishing scams, warned the police. Unsuspecting victims would be lured by these ads offering heavily discounted prices on popular goods like Musang King durian for prices as low as $1.99. They would click on URL links in the ads to purchase the goods, only to be redirected to phishing websites requesting their personal information and banking details. Some would even receive SMS requests to key in their YouTrip login code, before being notified of a 'new' login to their YouTrip account. At least $48,000 has been lost to phishing scams from food-related advertisements since June 15, with over 77 cases reported. Victims would realise that they have been scammed when they discovered: (a) Unauthorised transactions with merchants in their bank accounts or credit cards; (b) Unauthorised transactions and a takeover of their YouTrip accounts; (c) Unauthorised top-ups to YouTrip wallets from unknown parties, with some transactions made in foreign currencies. Members of the public are also advised to adopt the following measures to avoid falling for scams: ADD - Add the ScamShield app and set security features (e.g. set up transaction limits for internet banking transactions, enable two-factor authentication (2FA), multifactor authentication for banks and e-wallets, use the money lock feature of your bank to "lock up" a portion of your money so that it cannot be transferred out digitally by anyone, further protecting your savings from scams). Do not disclose your personal information, bank/card details and one-time passwords (OTPs) to anyone. CHECK - Check for scam signs with official sources such as the ScamShield app. Call and check with the 24/7 ScamShield helpline at 1799. Look out for tell-tale signs of a phishing website. Do not click on dubious URL links provided in social media advertisements. Be cautious of attractive deals that seem too good to be true. Always check the transaction amount and merchant details before keying in the One-Time Password (OTP). TELL - Tell the authorities, family, and friends about scams. Report any fraudulent transactions to your bank immediately and report any suspicious advertisements to the company or platform.
