Training held for 1.12L teachers across State
The initiative covered a total of 25,356 government, local body, TREIS, Model Schools, KGBVs, and URS institutions. To ensure optimal participation and coverage, the training was organised in three phases in a cascade mode, each spanning five days. A total of 1,12,882 teachers and Headmasters out of 1,16,084 completed the training.
According to officials, the training programme was spearheaded by 5,605 resource persons and focused on key areas such as: Enhancing student learning outcomes- Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) for primary classes (1-5) and Learning Improvement Program (LIP) for secondary classes (6-9) innovative teaching-learning methodologies, assessment practices, digital literacy (AI, ICT, IFPs) departmental initiatives, creating a drug-free school environment and adolescent safety and empowerment.

During the last one year, Rs 924 crore in financial assistance has been distributed to 10.83 lakh eligible female students from Classes 9 to 12 under the Namo Lakshmi Yojana, said Principal Secretary, Education Department, Mukesh Kumar. 'This scheme was launched with an aim to encourage education among girls studying in secondary and higher secondary schools. Under the guidance of our CM Bhupendra Patel, this scheme has met with huge success,' he noted. 'During the last one year, we have disbursed Rs 924 crore in assistance to nearly 10.83 lakh female students. Moreover, the enrolment ratio of girls in these standards have increased by 16 per cent, which proves that the scheme is successful in meeting its objectives,' said the bureaucrat. Akshara Diwan, a Class 11 student from Mehsana district, said the financial assistance provided by the government helped her in purchasing textbooks and other study materials. 'I want to study further because I want to become a police officer. I am using the fund received under the scheme for purchasing textbooks, stationery and other study materials,' said Diwan. Shailesh Prajapati, a beneficiary parent from Mehsana who works as a potter, thanked CM Patel for introducing this scheme. 'Financial crunch is the main issue poor people like me face everyday. Thanks to this scheme launched by our CM Bhupendra Patel, my daughter can study further and finish her school without worrying about money. State Food Commission chairman inspects schools, ration shops in Eluru
State Food Commission chairman Chitta Vijayapratap Reddy conducted surprise inspections across several schools, ration shops and MLS (Mandala Level Stock) points in Eluru, Bhimadole and Dwaraka Tirumala mandals on Wednesday (July 9). Mr. Vijayapratap Reddy, who examined the kitchen and store room at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Girls High School here, observed that some eggs weighed only 31 grams, far below the required 45–55 grams. He directed the supplier to replace underweight eggs, warning that such lapses should not recur and would attract strict action. Based on student feedback, the chairman suggested replacing upma with egg rice, instructing the principal accordingly. In Gundugolanu village of Bhimadole mandal, he visited the government ration shop, mandal parishad school and the zilla parishad high school. He found that fortified rice (with added vitamins) supplied by the government was being drained of starch, which goes against food safety regulations. He directed the Assistant Director of the Education Department to instruct all school headmasters in the district not to drain fortified rice while cooking. At Patthuru MLS point, he emphasised that ration rice should be distributed based on accurate weight, not by bag count, to ensure fairness for ration dealers. During his visit to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Gurukulam in Dwaraka Tirumala, he found that only four cooks were available for 682 students. The principal brought this to his attention, and he assured that he would take up the matter with the relevant authorities. He also dined with the students and expressed satisfaction with the food quality, lauding the cooks and school staff for their service. The inspection team included R.V. Nagarani (BC Welfare Department), Shivaramamurthy (District Manager, Civil Supplies Corporation), Williams (District Supply Officer), Assistant Director of the Education Department, officials from Legal Metrology, Food Safety and mandal-level officers.

Telangana's rank in National Achievement Survey 2024 improves; but it is not in top-10 high performing States
Jangaon is the only district in Telangana that featured in the '50 high performing districts' in the country in the assessment of grades 3, 6 and 9. Wanaparthy, Bhadradri Kothagudem, and Mulugu were in the 50 low performing districts. Telangana, however, showed an improvement compared to the last national survey conducted in 2021, for grades 3, 5 and 8. The results are part of PARAKH Rashtriya Sarvekshan, formerly National Achievement Survey (NAS), the national survey conducted by National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) to assess learning competencies of students in grades 3 (foundational), 6 (preparatory) and 9 (middle stage). The survey is conducted every three years. Across the country, 781 districts in 28 States and eight Union Territories, over 21 lakh students were assessed in the survey. In Telangana, the assessment was conducted on December 4, 2024, in 3,342 schools in 33 districts. As per the report, Telangana is not in the top-10 high performing States in the country, but it is also not in the 10 low performing States. As per an average, the State is ranked 26th in grade 3 and grade 6 assessment and 17th in grade 9. The State was 36th for grade 3 in the 2021 assessment. According to a statement from director, School Education E. Naveen Nicholas, 'This indicates that Telangana has exited the group of bottom-10 performing States for all classes.' Also, 'there is a clear 10% point improvement in language and Mathematics scores for class 3 students, and government schools, particularly those under State management, have performed better than private schools and Central government schools in core subjects in class 3,' he noted. Further, the performance of class 6 students has also shown encouraging signs of academic recovery, although continued efforts are necessary to sustain gains and further strengthen basic literacy and numeracy skills, the note observed. Decisions which contributed to better result Officials in the School Education Department are also of the view that decisions such as teacher promotions, transfers, which enabled appropriate teacher deployment, combined with capacity building of teachers and close monitoring contributed to the better result. Implementation of Foundational Literacy and Numeracy and academic support initiatives in the districts also helped the progress, they said.
