Police recover body of Pontiac man who drowned after attempting a rescue
MRC des Collines-de-l'Outaouais police announced they recovered the body of the man around 12:45 p.m. on Tuesday with the help of Sûreté du Québec divers.
Authorities did not release the man's identity but said he was a resident of Quyon, Que.
The man jumped from a pontoon to help a woman in the water on Sunday around 5:30 p.m., police said. He was not wearing a life jacket.
The woman was rescued by another person, police told Radio-Canada.
A search for the man continued into Sunday night, involving Ottawa police and boaters from Ottawa and the Pontiac, Que., area.
A coroner's inquest will be held, though police said signs indicate the man's death was accidental.
