Emirates NBD and Visa partner to launch Visa Commercial Pay – Mobile in the UAE

Emirates NBD, a leading banking group in the Middle East, North Africa and Türkiye (MENAT) region, is set to be the first bank in the UAE to introduce the Visa Commercial Pay-Mobile Module for its SME and Corporate clients, in collaboration with Visa. This initiative aligns with the UAE Government's vision of digitalising payments while at the same time providing a distinctive and unique proposition to Emirates NBD's clients to enhance payment efficiencies enabling security, automation and reconciliation through tokenized credentials.Visa Commercial Pay Mobile is tailored for Corporates and SMEs providing an easy and secure way to manage expenses and enables employees to make payments using Visa virtual cards on their mobile devices through digital wallets like Apple Pay or Google Pay. The solution extends the current Virtual Card capability of deploying tokenized virtual credentials providing enhanced security, real-time controls and expense management to the digital wallets, enabling the use of Virtual Cards to make POS machine (card present) payments.Commenting on this partnership, Deepak Chandran, Group Head of Retail Products at Emirates NBD, said: "We are proud to partner with Visa to launch the Visa Commercial Pay–Mobile solution, extending our suite of innovative payment solutions for our SME and Corporate clients. With the payments landscape more dynamic and competitive than ever, stablecoins are emerging as one of the most promising tools for faster and more accessible digital payments. Modernizing Settlement Infrastructure Visa is expanding its stablecoin settlement solution to select issuers and acquirers in CEMEA, enabling USD cross-border transactions through blockchain technology. This initiative helps reduce settlement costs, enhances liquidity management, and can support 365-day settlements, including weekends and holidays. In 2023, Visa became one of the first major payments networks to settle transactions in stablecoin when it piloted enabling clients to fulfill their settlement obligations in USDC. To date, over $225 million in stablecoin volume has been settled through Visa across participating clients. Enhancing Cross-Border Money Movement Visa is partnering with Yellow Card, a leading pan-African fintech, to explore stablecoin use cases and opportunities across markets where Yellow Card is licensed to operate to help streamline treasury operations and enhance liquidity management. The partnership is intended to test integration opportunities with Visa Direct to further investigate and expand cross-border payment options. As one of the world's largest digital payments networks, Visa Direct enables secure and seamless funds delivery across more than 190 countries and territories. Visa appoints Tareq Muhmood as Regional President for Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa

Visa (NYSE: V) today announced the appointment of Tareq Muhmood as Regional President for Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (CEMEA). In his new role, the established Visa leader will be responsible for leading operations across more than 86 innovative and fast-growing markets. Visa's CEMEA operations today serve more than 1,800 clients from 23 local offices across the Muhmood brings more than 30 years of banking and payments experience to the role. He most recently served as head of Value-Added Services for Visa's Europe region, based in London, and originally joined Visa in 2019 as Group Country Manager for Southeast Asia, based in Singapore. Prior to joining Visa, Mr. Muhmood held senior leadership positions with Ahli United Bank, ANZ and HSBC. Mr. Muhmood will be based in Dubai, and will take on the role effective immediately, reporting to Oliver Jenkyn, Group President, Global Markets, Muhmood succeeds Andrew Torre, who was recently appointed as President of Visa's Value-Added Services business, which has rapidly grown into a $9B global business and has delivered annualized revenue growth of 20% since 2021.'We are delighted to appoint a leader with Tareq's deep experience at the intersection of financial services, technology and high growth markets to lead Visa's fastest growing region and continue our journey to advance the future of digital payments across CEMEA,' said Mr. Jenkyn.
