Billionaire businessman Elon Musk announced he has returned to a grueling schedule of working seven days a week and sleeping in the office. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Musk on Sunday described himself as being in 'wartime mode," a term he uses to signal periods of intense focus and nonstop effort during critical phases at his companies.
Known for his extreme work ethic, the Tesla boss shared an old video reflecting on the toll such a work life has taken on him. Admitting the routine is painful and harmful, Musk said, 'No one should put these many hours into work. This is not good. This is very painful. It hurts my brain and my heart."
Notably, this is not the first time Musk has adopted such a demanding work schedule. In several interviews, the billionaire has admitted that he works relentlessly whenever required.
In 2018 interview with CBS' 60 Minutes, Musk had revealed he adopted a challenging task of working for 120 hours in a week during Tesla's Model 3 production crisis. During that period also, he slept on the factory floor to lead by example, he said.
Musk's current return to this intense lifestyle comes amid mounting pressures at several ventures, including Tesla, SpaceX, X, and new projects in AI and government reform. He recently claimed that his team at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) also followed a 120-hours workweek, far outpacing 'bureaucratic opponents" who work only 40 hours.
Musk's relentless work style is not only restricted to him but to his employees as well. After acquiring Twitter in 2022, he demanded staff commit to 'long hours at high intensity" or face consequences. Reports surfaced that Twitter's San Francisco office was converted into makeshift dormitories—dubbed the 'Twitter Hotel"—prompting an investigation by the city's Department of Building Inspection. Responding to the scrutiny, Musk had criticized the city authorities for their actions. 'So the city of SF attacks companies providing beds for tired employees instead of making sure kids are safe from fentanyl, he had tweeted in response.
Throughout his career, Musk's extreme dedication has been both praised and criticized, reflecting the high stakes and personal sacrifices behind his ambitious ventures.

Following up on this announcement, one of the recipients of the Neuralink implant has now shared that she is able to write her name and play games on a computer for the first time in 20 of the recipients of the Neualink implant, Audrey Crews, who has identified herself as 'P9', is now sharing her progress publicly. 'I would like to announce that I am P9. I am the first woman in the world with a Neuralink BCI. I can't wait for the world to meet me and follow me on my journey,' she wrote on revealed that she has been paralysed for 20 years and underwent the surgery in the hope of regaining some abilities. Now after the surgery, she reveals that she is now able to write her name for the first time since her injury. 'I tried writing my name for the first time in 20 years. I'm working on it,' she posted. In a follow-up post, Crews revealed that she underwent brain surgery to receive the Neuralink implant at the University of Miami Health Centre. The procedure involved drilling a small hole in her skull and meticulously placing 128 threads into her motor cortex. Notably, doctors use robotic assistance during the procedure to ensure greater precision. The chip itself is roughly the size of a 10p then shared that the surgery had been a success and that everything was progressing 'amazingly'. 'The BCI lets me control my computer using my mind. I'll be able to control more electronic devices in the near future. I also want to clarify that this implant will not allow me to walk again or regain movement. From this implant, thin, flexible threads are positioned into specific regions of the brain, particularly the motor cortex, which is involved in movement threads contain electrodes designed to detect and record the electrical signals generated by neurons. Musk says Samsung will produce Tesla's AI6 chip at US plant
Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, has said Samsung Electronics will manufacture the US electric vehicle maker's next-generation AI6 chip at its semiconductor plant in the state of Texas. Musk made the announcement on Sunday (U.S. time) on his social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, stating, "The strategic importance of this is hard to overstate." He added that Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), which has just completed its design phase, will initially produce the AI5 chip in Taiwan, reports Yonhap news agency. Musk also said Samsung, which currently manufactures the AI4 chip, has agreed to allow Tesla to collaborate in efforts to maximise manufacturing efficiency. Tesla's AI6 chip is designed to be scalable -- small enough for use in humanoid robots and self-driving cars but powerful enough for artificial intelligence (AI) data centre. Samsung Electronics said on Monday it has secured a 22.8 trillion-won (US$16.4 billion) order to supply semiconductors to a major undisclosed customer. In a regulatory filing, the South Korean tech giant said it signed a foundry contract set to be completed by December 31, 2033. The contract accounts for 7.6 percent of the company's total revenue of 300.9 trillion won last year and marks the largest chip order ever won by Samsung Electronics. The deal is expected to give a much-needed boost to its foundry division, which has long struggled to catch up with global industry leader Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC). In its earnings guideline released earlier this month, Samsung Electronics estimated an operating profit of 4.59 trillion won and sales of 74 trillion won for the second quarter.
