DJI announces the Osmo 360, the company's first 360° action camera

GSM Arena4 days ago
DJI has announced its first 360° action camera, the Osmo 360. The Osmo 360 promises several firsts for the segment, including being the first 360° camera to record in 8K 50fps and being able to shoot continuously in 8K 30fps for 100 minutes.
The Osmo 360 uses two 1/1.1-inch CMOS sensors, which DJI says is equivalent to a single 1-inch type sensor when recording in 360°. DJI uses bespoke industry-first square HDR sensors, which have been designed for 360° from the ground up. The sensors have a dynamic range of 13.5 stops and f1.9 aperture, with an ISO range of 100-51200.
The two cameras combined can natively capture up to 8K 360° video at up to 30fps or up to 50fps using upscaling. It can also record up to 100fps when shooting in 4K. Alternatively, you can also record single-lens video up to 5K resolution at up to 60fps or single-lens ultra-wide video at up to 4K resolution at up to 120fps.
The Osmo 360 has impressively long recording times. It can record up to 100 minutes of continuous 8K 30fps panaromic video, and up to 190 minutes of 6K 24fps panaromic video. The camera can also record up to 1.5 hours in in sub-zero temperatures as low as -20° C
The Osmo 360 includes features such as HorizonSteady to ensure the footage remains level even if the camera is rotated, and RockSteady 3.0 for image stabilization.
For those looking to capture still shots, the Osmo 360 can capture up to 30.72MP 4:3 image from a single lens or a 120MP 2:1 panaromic photo from both lenses.
The Osmo 360 has a 2-inch display with a resolution of 314x556. It has integrated 128GB of storage, of which 105GB is available, along with microSD expansion up to 1TB. There's also built-in Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth connectivity. The recording can be triggered using palm gestures as well as voice commands.
The DJI Osmo 360 is priced at €480/£410 for the Standard Combo that includes the camera, a protective pouch, and a rubber lens protector, or €630/£540 for the Adventure Combo, which also adds a 1.2m Invisible Selfie Stick, two Extreme Battery Plus, and a Multifunctional Battery case.

Here's when the familiar-looking Poco M7 Plus is coming

Vlad, 04 August 2025 The Redmi 15, Redmi 15 5G, and Redmi 15C became official at the beginning of this month, and now Poco is almost ready to launch its own version of the Redmi 15 5G. According to a new report, this will be sold as the Poco M7 Plus, joining the already available M7 and M7 Pro 5G. Over in India, Flipkart has a microsite up for an upcoming Poco device, and today's rumor claims it's all about the M7 Plus, even though the microsite itself doesn't mention the name yet. The Poco M7 Plus will allegedly be unveiled in India on August 13. It will be priced at under INR 15,000, reportedly. Since it's going to be a rebranded Redmi 15 5G, we expect it to come with the exact same specs: a 6.9-inch 1080x2340 LCD screen with 144 Hz refresh rate, the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 SoC, 4GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, a 50 MP main camera, an 8 MP selfie snapper, and a 7,000 mAh battery with support for 33W wired charging. iPhone 17 Pro might sweat against Xiaomi 16 Pro Max's killer new sensor

An iPhone 17 Pro dummy next to a real iPhone. | Image credit – PhoneArena A brand-new camera sensor for a brand-new phone: this time around, the Xiaomi 16 Pro flagship will probably have two different-sized versions: Xiaomi 16 Pro Xiaomi 16 Pro Max (or XL?) Until there's confirmation from Xiaomi itself, it's best to take all moniker-related news with a pinch of salt. However, the wind from Rumorsville has it that this phone – whatever it's called – will likely pack an advanced camera sensor, called SmartSens 590. The Xiaomi 15 Pro. | Image by Xiaomi Reports have it that it will be a 50 MP sensor, which (to me, at least) is a pretty respectable megapixel count. Maybe one day we'll all rock 500 MP cameras in our handsets, but the results one can get with a 50 MP sensor today are outstanding, compared to what phones were able to do back in the day. The SmartSens 590 will allegedly be sized at a substantial 1/1.28 inches, which will significantly improve light intake, allowing the phone to deliver outstanding image quality across a wide range of lighting conditions, including nighttime and low-light scenarios. Speaking of 1/1.28" camera sensors, that's how large the sensor for the main camera in the iPhone 16 Pro duo is. There are rumors that Apple will pack a larger, custom 1/1.14" sensor on the iPhone 17 Pro, but nothing is written in stone yet. The SmartSens 590 is built using an advanced 22-nanometer process and integrates LOFIC 2.0 and Quad Pixel Detection (QPD) technologies, placing it among the most sophisticated sensors currently available in smartphones. LOFIC 2.0, or Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor, is a crucial feature that improves dynamic range by preserving detail in both bright and dark areas of an image. Its ability to balance exposure levels enhances image clarity and richness, especially when shooting in environments with mixed or Quad Pixel Detection, supports high-speed, highly accurate autofocus. This technology allows the camera to quickly lock onto subjects, making it ideal for fast-moving scenes or spontaneous key advancement is the sensor's manufacturing process. The 22nm architecture contributes to better power efficiency and thermal control, which ensures the camera performs reliably even during extended use or in demanding conditions. This should result in sharper, more consistent images regardless of environmental challenges.A sensor's physical size is not the end of the story – optics matter, software optimizations matter – but I'm sure that the iPhone 17 Pro will gulp nervously if the Xiaomi 16 Pro Max materializes and is released in the US. On top of all, the Xiaomi 16 Pro Max might come with a 7,500 mAh capacity battery cell. The Xiaomi 16 Ultra (the maxed-out flagship of the same family) is also shaping out to be great photography, as we reported earlier: it might offer something truly exceptional in terms of camera.
