This means the sea breezes will move farther inland & past I-95, enhancing storm coverage west of Jax

More storms expected across Maryland Wednesday
Quieter Tuesday Brings Brief Break from Storms After a more subdued weather day across Maryland on Tuesday, storm chances are set to return midweek, bringing the potential for heavy rain and isolated flash flooding. Only a few storms developed Tuesday afternoon, mainly in southern Maryland and on the Eastern Shore. Skies will turn partly cloudy overnight with patchy fog possible. It will remain humid, with lows in the mid-70s. Storms Return Wednesday with Flood Risk A more active pattern resumes Wednesday as scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop during the afternoon. With high temperatures near 90 degrees and elevated humidity, some storms could become strong, producing very heavy rainfall. Isolated flash flooding is possible where storms stall or repeatedly move over the same areas. Hot and Mostly Dry Thursday Thursday will bring drier conditions overall, but heat remains a concern. High temperatures will climb into the low to mid-90s, and heat index values may exceed 100 degrees. A stray afternoon or evening storm can't be ruled out. Storm Threat Grows Again Friday Friday brings renewed storm chances. Afternoon highs will reach around 90 degrees, and increasing instability could trigger stronger storms. Locally heavy rainfall may lead to flooding. Depending on how the threat develops, a WJZ First Alert Weather Day could be issued. Weekend Outlook: Dry Start, Wetter Finish Saturday is shaping up to be the driest day of the weekend, with a frontal boundary pushing south of the area during the morning. Most storms that do form will likely stay across Virginia and southern Maryland. By Sunday, the front will lift back north, increasing storm coverage again. Scattered to numerous storms are expected by Sunday afternoon and evening, with highs in the upper 80s. Unsettled Pattern Continues Into Next Week The same front is forecast to stall across the region early next week, keeping conditions unsettled. Scattered to widespread thunderstorms are possible each day through at least Tuesday. The timing and intensity of storms will depend on where the front settles and the arrival of upper-level disturbances. Slight Cooldown Possible Mid-Next Week While storm chances remain high, there is a bit of good news: Temperatures may ease slightly by the middle of next week. Highs in the low to mid-80s are expected to become more common, offering some relief from the persistent heat and humidity.

Steamy, but less stormy Tuesday across Maryland
Powerful storms from Monday have moved out to sea. In their wake we'll see a warm and muggy day ahead. Enjoy the break while it lasts, more storms are possible Wednesday. Steamy, but less stormy in Maryland Tuesday Humidity levels will remain at the top of the scale today, but we're looking at drier weather compared to Monday. Any storms this afternoon should be rather sparse and they won't have the momentum of Monday's storms. Most of us will see a partly sunny sky along with plenty of heat and humidity. High temperatures will reach in the middle to upper 80s, but feels like temperatures will top out in the middle to upper 90s. The UV index today will be a 10, so apply sunscreen generously and wear sun protection. Heavy thunderstorms return to Maryland Wednesday Wednesday will also feature a good deal of heat and humidity. High temperatures will climb close to 90°. Feels like temperatures will climb close to 100°. The weather looks quiet Wednesday morning, so if you have any outdoor work or activities, you'll want to get them done earlier in the day. Wednesday afternoon and evening could turn busy as clusters of showers and heavy thunderstorms form as a disturbance approaches from the west. Similar to Monday, multiple batches of storms may form along the Bay breeze boundary combined with the disturbance approaching from the west. Since the air will be so muggy, any storm could bring torrential downpours and pockets of flooding. Right now the WJZ First Alert Weather Team has not issued an Alert Day for Wednesday, but if new information trends stormier, we'll potentially need to issue one. Intense heat and humidity across Maryland Thursday Thursday will be the hottest day of the upcoming week with high temperatures climbing into the middle 90s. Factor in the very high levels of humidity and heat index values will climb to values between 100° and 105°. The city of Baltimore will likely need to open some cooling centers due to this extreme heat. Unlike Wednesday, thunderstorms will be the exception and not the rule. Thursday looks mainly dry. Heat then strong storms Friday afternoon and evening Friday will be another hot day with high temperatures climbing close to 90°. A slow-moving cold front will approach Friday afternoon and evening sparking off clusters of strong to possibly severe storms. The weather team has tagged Friday as a possible First Alert Weather Day for the potential of severe storms with damaging winds and flooding downpours. The timeline of the strongest storms looks like 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. Sun and storms this weekend across Maryland Saturday will be the better outdoor weather day this weekend across Maryland. Humidity levels will be slightly lower with dry weather expected. Most of the state should see partly to mostly sunny skies with highs in the upper 80s. The only exception may be southern Maryland with a few isolated storms. Sunday will also be hot and muggy, but thunderstorms become a concern later in the day into the evening. Given the tropical humidity, we'll need to monitor these storms for the threat of torrential downpours, lightning, and gusty winds.

Today will be a great day to take a dip in the pool for people in the Pittsburgh area
If you live in the Pittsburgh area and are wondering when the best days to jump into the pool are, today and Saturday are your best opportunities this week. Any Alert Days Ahead? There are some potential First Alert Weather Days over the next 7 days. I can't rule out Wednesday due to downpours leading to potential flash flooding. Next Monday also looks like a severe weather set-up Aware: Fueled by warm mornings, our average temperature for the first two weeks of the month are running above normal by 3.5°. Both today and Saturday will see little to no rain. Highs today should hit the upper 80s with sunny skies through the early afternoon and then high clouds leading to filtered sunshine for the rest of the day. Even with the clouds in place, you're going to want to apply sunblock. I have our noon temperature in the mid-80s. Morning temperatures dipped to the upper 60s in most places. There was some fairly thick fog around this morning too. Today's reprieve from the rain won't extend into Wednesday with rain arriving before noon, and the chance for rain and storms with some potential big rain totals sticking around for the rest of the day. As of 4a we are not included under the severe outlook for Wednesday, but I think that will change at some point today. Right now model data has jumped on a mid level low that is on the northern edge of a ridge of high pressure entrenched in the Northern Gulf of Mexico. This low will slide through here tomorrow, and with the heat and humidity in place should set off a series of storms through the late morning, afternoon and early evening. Frequent lightning along with windy conditions will be possible around any storms. Flash flooding will also be possible with any 'training' storms. Training just means one spot sees a series of storms in rapid succession. No one storm dumps enough rain in a spot to set off a flash flood warning, but the sum of all the storms is enough to hit the threshold. Right now, our flash flood criteria for tomorrow will be around 1.25" of rain in an hour or 1.5" of rain in a 3-6 hour time period. Rain chances will stick around on Thursday and Friday morning. Friday afternoon and Saturday are looking comfy and dry. I have Wednesday highs in the mid-80s. Expect upper 80s for highs ahead of the storms on Thursday before we get some relief from heat and humidity with highs in the low 80s on Friday and the mid 80s on Saturday. Another round of rain is expected Sunday through Tuesday of next week with a severe weather set-up appearing due to high wind speeds on Tuesday.
