During the 30-day activation, the route's stages will take in sites that have been thoughtfully curated for their historical and cultural significance, representing the rich heritage and history of the Abu Dhabi region. They serve as a testament to the cultural and architectural values that shape the community's identity, conveying historical narratives and preserving legacies that reflect the depth of the past. Environmental sites, such as the Baynounah Houbara Bird Sanctuary, emphasise the critical importance of biodiversity preservation and sustainable resource management, contributing to heightened environmental awareness. Technological sites like the Al Sadeem Observatory exemplify advancements in scientific research and innovation, aligning with the emirate's ambitious vision for the future.
There will also be opportunities for members of the public to participate in the walk, with details available soon on Active Abu Dhabi's social media channels. Individuals are invited to take on a 30-day walking challenge by clocking 6,000 steps a day on PureHealth's Pura app.
Commenting on the announcement, His Excellency Ahmed Taleb Al Shamsi, CEO of Emirates Foundation, said: 'We are delighted to collaborate with our valued partners and announce today the launch of this unique sports and health challenge, which embodies our goal of inspiring the community in the emirate—regardless of age or ability—to promote physical activity and maintain healthy habits.

In preparation for WALK 1000, a full calendar of weekly community-focused activations is being held at locations across Abu Dhabi to allow people to take part at their own level and improve their fitness. These include special ladies' only sessions as well as activities to encourage people of determination to get active.
Mansour Al Dhaheri, Founder of Active Abu Dhabi, added: 'I am very proud to be helping to create another opportunity for residents across Abu Dhabi to get outside and get active. Whatever your age or level of ability, the walk and range of community-focused events are ideal opportunities to make changes in your lifestyle and start your health and fitness journey. I am grateful to our sponsors, our partners, and special guests for their constant support, and look forward to starting this 1,000-kilometre walk with the whole of Abu Dhabi behind me.'

By encouraging everyone to take just a few more steps each day, we believe we can foster healthier lifestyles, strengthen our communities, and ultimately improve overall well-being.'

Al-Nassr Club Company Redefines Fan Engagement with Hewlett Packard Enterprise - Middle East Business News and Information

Al-Nassr Club Company Redefines Fan Engagement with Hewlett Packard Enterprise Being at the forefront of Saudi Arabia's footballing ambitions, Al-Nassr Club Company, one of the leading football clubs in the Kingdom, is working with Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) to transform its stadium, training, medical, media, and fan facilities – and thereby the way fans engage with football. Key to this experience is a comprehensive end-to-end solution, built on HPE Aruba Networking, that establishes a coherent, performance-focused and secure network infrastructure. Throughout the past few years, Al-Nassr has become the most-followed team by football fans outside Saudi Arabia. Aware that not everyone who watches an Al-Nassr match will be able to travel to Saudi Arabia to attend games, and that more than 60 million fans follow their games, Al-Nassr wants to redefine the fan experience with more content, more behind-the-scenes footage, and greater access to star players. To drive digital content, Al-Nassr is creating a digital sports campus, creating a wireless-first environment engaging both fans within and outside the stadium. 'We always have a minimum of 300–400 people connecting to the network on quiet days, however the number jumps to more than 10,000 on match days,' said Faisal Khan, director of IT at Al-Nassr. 'Simultaneously, we are filming throughout the week, across all parts of the organization. The fan engagement and content we provide goes beyond the match-day experience and with HPE Aruba Networking we are now able to scale and allocate different bandwidth, manage access rights for different user groups, and troubleshoot connectivity issues easily, all from the office.' The solution deployed at the sports campus combines the capabilities of HPE Aruba Networking Central, HPE Aruba Networking CX switches, HPE Aruba Networking EdgeConnect SD-WAN, and HPE Aruba Networking Wi-Fi 7 wireless access points. This allows the club's IT team to closely manage the various fan engagement points, keep sensitive biometric data of players secure, and quickly provide connectivity to new parts of the campus. The club manages connectivity for 20 buildings, including warehousing and retail outlets, with more stores and branch offices expected as the club expands its operations. By using HPE Aruba Networking EdgeConnect SD-WAN, the club can use multiple connections to provide high availability and resilience, even in times of high use. This increases performance by link-binding and maximizing the use of available bandwidth, making it particularly valuable to the football club for critical applications, such as video live streaming matches. 'As Al-Nassr continues to realise and enhance its vision for fan engagement and data commercialization, it needs a robust and performance-focused networking infrastructure', said Jamil Ahmad, Country Business lead for Saudi Arabia at HPE Aruba Networking. 'By building a smart sports campus upon HPE Aruba Networking, Al-Nassr has unified and streamlined its networking operations, maximizing opportunities for content generation and simplifying the deployment of game-changing IoT. This includes the club's media streaming capabilities, that allow fans to not only watch video streams of games and player interviews from different parts of the world but also stream exclusive content on their smartphone within the stadium – creating a one-of-a-kind experience.'

Saudi Arabia's Al-Hilal ‘had to climb Mount Everest without oxygen' in shock Club World Cup win over Manchester City

CNN — Simone Inzaghi has only been head coach of Al-Hilal for a matter of weeks, but already he has led the Saudi Arabian side to the quarterfinals of the Club World Cup. Al-Hilal secured a spot in the last eight of the tournament in sensational fashion with a dramatic 4-3 victory against Manchester City on Monday, scoring twice in extra-time to produce arguably the biggest shock of the Club World Cup so far. Brazilian forward Marcos Leonardo scored the decisive goal in the 112th minute – his second of the game after Phil Foden had equalized for Man City. Inzaghi, who only recently oversaw Inter Milan's Champions League final defeat against Paris Saint-Germain, showered his players with praise after the match. 'The key to this result was the players, and the heart they put on the pitch tonight,' he said, per Reuters. 'We had to do something extraordinary because we all know Manchester City, that team. 'We had to climb Mount Everest without oxygen and we made it. All the players were exceptional in everything, in the possession phase, the non-possession phase.' Bernardo Silva bundled in the first goal of the game at Orlando's Camping World Stadium inside 10 minutes, setting up what many expected to be a routine victory for the Premier League side. But Leonardo leveled the match at the start of the second half when he headed in Rúben Dias' block, before Malcom's breakaway goal moments later gave Al-Hilal a 2-1 lead. The advantage was short-lived with Erling Haaland scoring from a corner, and the game remained at 2-2 for the rest of the 90 minutes after Haaland had an attempt cleared off the line by Ali Lajami. Kalidou Koulibaly's header put Al-Hilal back into the lead in extra-time, but substitutes Rayan Cherki and Foden combined to send the match to a thrilling conclusion. And that came courtesy of Leonardo's winner when Sergej Milinković-Savić's header was saved by Ederson into his path. Al-Hilal will now face Brazilian side Fluminese in the Club World Cup quarterfinals having ended a 20-game winless run for Asian teams against European opponents in FIFA club competitions. 'We knew that it would be a difficult game against one of the best teams in the world and we wanted to show our ideas, our talents and our power,' said Koulibaly, per 'We made a very good game; we took our chances so we can be happy. We wanted to show that Al-Hilal have the power and the talent to be here and we showed a great mentality.'
