Chhattisgarh horror: Youth's body coated with cement & stuffed in trunk found dumped in Raipur; suspect couple held from Delhi airport while fleeing, accused tried to delay detection
RAIPUR: In a gruesome and coldly calculated murder that has shocked Chhattisgarh capital, the body of a young man was found plastered in cement, stuffed inside a suitcase, and sealed within a steel trunk, an apparent attempt to suppress the odour and delay detection.

The grisly find was made after residents in Raipur's DD Nagar area alerted authorities to a noxious stench emanating from an abandoned trunk near a roadside bush.
Following swift investigation, a couple, identified as the son and daughter-in-law of a retired assistant sub-inspector of state police, was arrested at Delhi airport while attempting to flee.
CCTV footage captured the suspects transporting the trunk in an Alto car with its rear hatch ajar, offering crucial leads that cracked the case wide open.
The capture shows two men in the car and the trunk loaded in the rear while a woman with her face covered, also following the vehicle on a two-wheeler.
Speaking to TOI, Raipur SSP Lal Umed Singh confirmed that the accused couple was arrested and the mastermind Ankit Upadhyay is a lawyer by profession, who took help from his wife to dispose off the body.
SSP Singh said that the victim Kishore Paikra was an elderly man who lived alone and prima facie it appears that he was killed by slitting throat on June 21-22.
He added that the police are yet to interrogate the prime accused couple and would divulge all details related to investigation soon. Police have found the shop from where the trunk was procured and CCTV footage shows they carried it in an e-rickshaw.
On Monday evening, residents in DD Nagar area's Indraprasth Colony, Phase 2, got suspicious spotting a new truck lying abandoned on roadside bushes and going close to it, they realized they couldn't stand the stench, following which, they raised an alarm.

A police team reached the spot and broke opened the trunk which had a heavy and concrete suitcase inside. Upon breaking the plaster, it was shocking to find a body of a man.
Preliminary investigation indicate that the body was stuffed in the suitcase first and then plastered in cement. The footage shows the car entered the colony around 9.50 am on Monday and the car's number plate was fiddled and changed with another, to mislead probe.
Former Congress MLA Vikas Upadhyay personally visited the crime scene. He stated that the crime graph in the state is continuously rising.

Hoax threat mail triggers panic;major search ops at city airport
Jaipur: A hoax email about explosives planted at Jaipur International Airport triggered a major security operation on Sunday, leading to a multi-agency response and a sweeping search that lasted for several hours. Officials said airport authorities received an email warning of imminent explosions at the airport complex, prompting security forces into action. Within minutes, bomb disposal squads (BDS), anti-sabotage teams (AST), and quick reaction teams (QRTs) were deployed to the site. All agencies coordinated under standard operating procedures and carried out a thorough search of the terminal and adjoining areas. Sniffer dogs assisted in the operation as personnel combed through every nook and corner of the facility. The search continued for several hours, leading to temporary disruptions in routine airport activities. Senior officers of Jaipur police said the airport premises were cleared after an exhaustive inspection, in coordination with the Central Industrial Security Force. "We followed all mandated safety protocols and found no suspicious object during the operation," a senior officer said. In addition to the physical search, police teams also reviewed CCTV footage from across the airport to check for any unusual activity. However, nothing out of the ordinary was detected. Fire at open plot in Najaf Colony raises alarm over unchecked garbage dumping
Nagpur: A major fire broke out at an open plot in Najaf Colony recently, exposing garbage dumping in the open and civic apathy. Once a clean land parcel, the plot has steadily turned into a dumping ground, primarily due to indiscriminate disposal of waste. The Times of India visited the spot to gauge the extent of the negligence. Pruned branches, plastic bags, construction debris, and dry waste were scattered across the plot. A man was seen throwing freshly cut branches from his lemon tree into the heap, while nearby, chunks of debris from an under-construction building were being dumped openly. A local resident who witnessed the fire said the flames quickly grew over 10 feet tall. Panicked residents rushed to the spot with water-filled buckets and garden hoses to douse the flames. A generator is installed at a spot close to where the fire started. "Had the flames reached the generator, the situation could have turned dangerous," the resident said. The fire brigade rushed to the spot on being informed and doused the blaze before it could spread further. No injuries were reported, but the incident served as a wake-up call about the dangers of unchecked littering and illegal dumping. The plot is located a short distance away from an NMC-designated garbage black spot, another area grappling with improper waste disposal issues. The proximity of two unmanaged garbage sites has raised concerns among citizens and civic activists, who now demand immediate action and stricter enforcement. Speaking to TOI, Gajendra Mahalle, chief sanitary officer of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), said, "I am not aware of a fire in Najaf Colony specifically, but there is regular door-to-door collection at Mankapur. Usually open plots turn filthy due to accumulation of dry leaves or illegal dumping." Mahale added that NMC issues notices to owners of open plots, granting them eight days to clear the waste. "If they fail to comply, we clean it ourselves and levy a fine. If the fine is not paid, we file an FIR," the official said. While the fire didn't cause major damage, residents said the fire has reignited discussions around the need for better waste management, stronger civic engagement, and stricter monitoring to prevent future disasters.
