Hisense's new M2 Pro projector is a 4K portable dream — and it can easily display a 200-inch picture
Hisense is launching a sleek new projector that's set to be the perfect display for those backyard summer kickbacks.
Called the Hisense M2 Pro, this portable projector can beam a 4K image at up 200-inch of screen size with a recorded brightness of 1,300 ANSI lumens. That should do adequately in mitigating any ambient light that might prevail during sunset.
4K portable projectors don't come around too often and you'd hard-pressed to find one that's competitively priced. Luckily, the Hisense M2 Pro is just $1,299 and it's set to debut later this summer.
The Hisense M2 Pro shines bright through a set of AI enhancements. These include upscaling and clarity algorithms that make content look much better (though not quite as good as one of the best OLED TVs). There's also an AI HDR Upscaler built into the projector that helps Dolby vision and other supported HDR features look phenomenal.
But AI is just the half of it, as the M2 Pro can even correct itself using an Auto Keystone and Seamless Auto Focus tools. This makes setup a breeze, ensuring you can dive right into your favorite shows and movies plastered at a 200-inch screen size against the side of your house without a worry.
Unlike other projectors by Hisense, such as the PX3-Pro or C2 Ultra, the M2 Pro won't be kitted with Google TV. Instead, it uses the VIDDA Smart TV platform, allowing it access to many of the best streaming services, including Netflix, Apple TV, and Disney Plus.
While midday watching in the backyard might not be advisable without a solid ALR screen, this portable projector should still work quite well in darker environments. It's rated at 1,300 lumens, which is adequate enough once the sun goes down.
Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips.
And a 65-inch to 200-inch screen size is perfect if you don't always have the space for that big-screen experience.
The M2 Pro Smart Mini Projector is going on sale later this summer and a pre-order page should be going up soon on Hisense's online storefront. It's a bit too early to tell, but it seemingly has all the trappings of one of the best projectors. We'll report back with more in-depth analysis and testing in a full review later this year.

Hasan Minhaj says he once kept his money in shoeboxes — and wonders why he shouldn't hoard cash like Warren Buffett
Hasan Minhaj spoke about keeping his savings in shoeboxes, why using money wisely is so hard, and Warren Buffett 's cash hoard on a recent episode of his podcast. The comedian, best known for his Netflix stand-up specials, laid bare his personal-finance anxieties and doubts about investing advice in a conversation with JL Collins, the author of "The Simple Path to Wealth," on "Hasan Minhaj Doesn't Know." "Money and finances have been something that were oftentimes fear-inducing and very painful for me growing up," he said. Minhaj, who rose to fame as a correspondent on "The Daily Show," recalled doing open-mic nights in Los Angeles as a young comic and being paid in cash or checks that he'd cash immediately. He kept the money in his room and wound up having $3,200 stashed in Nike shoeboxes. One day, he said his roommate walked in and asked, "Are you selling drugs?" Minhaj quickly dispelled him of that notion, but the friend then quizzed him on whether he had a checking account (he did, but only kept a small sum in there) or a 401(k) or Roth IRA to save for retirement (he didn't). That was a wake-up call for Minhaj, who realized he lacked a solid grounding in personal finance. The awakening led him to read Collins' book, and the author's three rules for money resonated with him: Spend less than you earn; invest your savings in an index fund; and avoid debt. Money problems On the podcast, Minhaj underscored to Collins how much temptation there is to "get rich quick" and squander cash. "My feed is a constant stream of financial grifters," he said. "I'm talking crypto bros, NFT scammers, affiliate link farmers, and pump-and-dump incels." Minhaj described the urge to spend money on nice things like iced coffees and vacations, and the YOLO mindset that the stock market could crash tomorrow and pinching pennies was pointless. He also lamented how his bitcoin buddies taunt him for missing out on the crypto boom, and how eking out a modest return from an index fund doesn't seem attractive when others have seen their wealth explode by owning tech stocks like Tesla or Nvidia. Collins responded that it's OK to splurge but be selective, and there have been many crises in past decades yet stocks have always recovered and reached new highs. He added that nobody has a "crystal ball" to see which bets will pay off and which will go to zero ahead of time. Minhaj also asked about Buffett choosing to hold more than $300 billion of cash in Berkshire Hathaway's coffers. Be more Buffett? "If Warren Buffett is sitting on cash and not VTSAX and holding, why are we?" he asked, referring to Collins' favorite holding, the Vanguard Total Stock Market Index Fund. "Why can't we be more like Buffett and just know that something bad is about to happen and maybe hold on to that bread?" Minhaj added. Collins responded by noting the legendary bargain hunter had been stockpiling cash not because he's predicting doomsday, but because he can't find enough compelling purchases to make. Minhaj added that as he approaches 40, he feels the competing forces of the "greed to make more money" and the "fear, holy shit, I could lose a lot of money," and asked how to reconcile them. Collins answered that staying the course and owning an index fund for the long term is the most surefire way to get rich and to avoid losing money. In short, he made it clear to Minhaj that the smart money isn't in crypto or shoeboxes, but in low-fee, long-term index funds that are the safest route to lasting wealth.

Thousands protest Bulgaria's euro adoption and call for a referendum
SOFIA, Bulgaria (AP) — Days before Bulgaria was expected to become the 21st member of the eurozone, opponents of the move geared up Saturday for a final battle to change the schedule. Thousands of protesters gathered on a central square in downtown Sofia to protest government plans to adopt the euro and to demand a referendum on the new currency. The European Union has given the green light for Bulgaria to adopt the euro starting Jan. 1. The protesters, led by civic groups, nationalist and pro-Russian parties known for their opposition to the euro, declared that after the rally they intended to set up a tent camp on the central square, dubbed 'Town of the lev,' after the name of the national currency. On a platform for speakers hung a huge banner that read 'The battle for the Bulgarian lev is the last battle for Bulgaria.' The leader of the pro-Russian Vazrazhdane party Kostadin Kostadinov told the protesters that the country will be stripped of its currency. 'Someone else will decide how we spend our money, the Bulgarian budget will be approved by the European Central Bank," he said. 'This is an anti-state coup, this is treason.' Kostadinov announced that lawmakers from Germany, Lithuania, Romania, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary have joined the event to support the protest. Ahead of the demonstration, Vazrazhdane submitted in Parliament a motion for a vote of no confidence in the current government, accusing it of failing to undertake necessary reforms to restore stability to public finances and working for the forceful adoption of the euro. Parliament will vote on the motion next week, but the pro-EU government coalition is expected to survive. The Balkan country joined the European Union in 2007 and is now on the final stretch of its accession to the eurozone. The last institutional hurdle is the approval from both the European Parliament in Strasbourg and the Economic and Financial Affairs Council in Brussels, scheduled for July 8. These steps come after the European Council gave its clear endorsement of Bulgaria joining the eurozone on Jan. 1, 2026. During its almost two decades-long EU membership, Bulgaria has been plagued by political instability and corruption that have fueled euroscepticism among its 6.4 million citizens. Economists say joining the euro will not bring massive change to Bulgaria's economy in the short run. That's because the government has pegged the currency to the euro by law, at a fixed rate of 1 lev for every 51 eurocents.
