Ed Gale, known for playing frightful doll Chucky and 'Howard the Duck,' dies at 61
Ed Gale, an actor and stuntman best known for frightening audiences as the possessed doll Chucky, has died. He was 61.
Gale's rep, Angela Strange, confirmed his death to USA TODAY May 28, but did not specify a cause. Born with dwarfism, Gale stood at 3 feet 4 inches tall, a fact that was often played up for his starring roles. Whether as the affable, ultraintelligent duck from a far-off planet in "Howard the Duck," or the iconic horror doll Chucky, Gale was known for delivering a full-body performance.
Cementing his place in Hollywood in the 1980s, Gale appeared in 1988's "Child's Play," returning for the 1990 sequel "Child's Play 2" and later "Bride of Chucky." His turn about Tinseltown reached its height before the year 2000, with roles in "Mom and Dad Save the World," "The Little Rascals" and "New Nightmare."
No stranger to a guest spot, Gale appeared on popular shows like "Weird Science" and "Family Matters," later stretching his fame into the 2010s with roles in "The Amateur Monster Movie" and "Mikeyboy."
"It is with a heavy heart and a surprisingly light coffin (see what I did there?) that we announce the sudden passing of our uncle," his niece, Kayse Gale, wrote in a Facebook post May 27. "Ed Gale has taken his final bow and is now headlining in the afterlife.
"Ed hitched a ride to California when he was twenty years old, with $41 and a dream, and he never looked back," she wrote. "He lit up the silver screens in cult classic films like 'Howard the Duck' and 'Chopper Chicks in Zombie Town', earning himself some serious street cred… Which he never stopped bragging about. Ever."
Gale "appeared in over 130 movies, TV shows, and commercials," his niece wrote. "With this wide-ranging body of work, he leaves behind (a) legacy full of questionable lighting and amazing one-liners," she continued, adding that throughout all the fame his favorite role remained 'fun uncle' and he loved to share the "magic of Hollywood" with his nieces.
"Ed loved 7-Eleven hot dogs with disgusting amounts of ketchup. He enjoyed reminiscing about his glory days, DJing at the Plainwell roller rink. He hated Bill Maher for no good reason. He delighted in the slow build-up of telling a good story, and cheating at cribbage. He had one hell of a laugh, and he will be missed," the statement finished.

Justin Bieber's son Jack makes adorable cameo in new music video

Justin and Hailey Bieber's son is making his creative debut. In the black-and-white music video for "Yukon," which Justin Bieber released on Instagram Aug. 5, the family of three – which includes the nearly 1-year-old Jack Blues Bieber – frolic on a yacht and in the sea. A diapered Jack plays in the water and gets his toes kissed by his heavily tattooed dad. In another scene, the three are cuddled up on the boat as Justin holds his son with one arm and Hailey kisses his left shoulder. Later, Hailey embraces Jack in the water as droplets streaming down the lens strategically cover the toddler's face, with Jack pointing at the camera. Watch Justin Bieber's 'Yukon' music video: At one point in the music video, Justin and Hailey share a close embrace. In between shots of his family time, Justin dances across the edge of the boat, sings straight at director Cole Bennett's camera and moodily croons while gazing at the floor. "We shot this a couple weeks back over the course of a few days in Spain & Italy," wrote Bennett on Instagram. "Shot on FX3 & GoPro, printed on 16mm film. I'll remember these memories for the rest of my life. Thank you for everything @lilbieber @haileybieber 🤍" A post shared by Cole Bennett (@colebennett) 'Swag' is out: How Justin Bieber rolled out his surprise drop "Yukon" is the third track off Bieber's latest album, "Swag," and the first song to get the music video treatment. The 31-year-old has interspersed references to his wife and son throughout the surprise release project and featured them in some of the imagery for the record. The YouTube sensation-turned-popstar also appears to comment on the status of his seven-year marriage with the Rhode founder in some of his lyrics. In "Walking Away," he pushes back on the rumor mill with thinly-veiled messages: "Baby, I ain't walking away/ You are my diamond, gave you a ring/ I made you a promise; I told you I'd change/ It's just human nature, these growing pains/ And baby, I ain't walking away." Then in "Go Baby," he sings: "When sunlight turns to shadow and it gets hard to face/ Like water to a flower, babe, I know you need the rain/ Nothing needs to work out and nothing needs to break/ Don't need to pretend that you're OK." Charlie Sheen donates to Cincinnati brawl victim: 'Justice will reign supreme'

Charlie Sheen is supporting one of the victims of the Cincinnati brawl that went viral. Sheen, 59, responded to an X post from conservative YouTuber Benny Johnson, revealing that he was the anonymous $1,000 donor to an online fundraiser Johnson created for a woman named Holly, who was reportedly knocked unconscious during the violent brawl on July 26. "My Ohio connections run deep, and what happened to you will NOT be tolerated by the 'true' Ohioans (Like yourself), as justice will reign supreme," the note on the donation read, signed with Sheen's initials. "Heal well, young lady, and know that we are all rooting for you!" The "Two and a Half Men" alum's parents, actors Martin Sheen and Janet Sheen, were both born in Dayton, Ohio, although Janet Sheen grew up in Cincinnati. The couple met in school in New York City, where Charlie Sheen was born. Charlie Sheen's daughter says she hasn't talked to actor in months Johnson told Sheen he was "saving a life" with his donation. Sheen replied on X: "I was merely following your gracious lead." "The speed at which you and Sen (Bernie) Moreno hatched the donation plan, was stunning and compassionate and as patriotic as it gets," he continued. "You both reminded all of us of the America we remain proud to call home. Keep up the great work, and to Holly, 'we' have your six.'" Sheen said, referencing that they had her back, signing off the note with "xox. cs," his initials. Denise Richards' daughter Sami says she was bullied for looking like dad Charlie Sheen USA TODAY has reached out to Sheen's reps for further comment. A social media clip from the fight shows a man punching Holly, who has requested her last name be withheld due to threats she has been receiving, leaving her lying motionless on the ground until someone comes and helps her back up. Holly told The Cincinnati Enquirer, part of the USA TODAY Network, that she has been in and out of the hospital over the past 10 days and has suffered severe head trauma and a concussion. A video taken by a bystander shows that the fight involved separate disputes in different locations, with several people trying to end them. In one of the videos, a man who police say was a victim can be heard shouting racial slurs. Detectives have said that two of the six suspects coordinated the attack together. The specific timeline of how the fight began remains unclear. Within hours of the videos surfacing online, the images became part of a broader national argument about politics, crime and race.
