Could Marcus Rashford be heading to Barcelona? Latest updates on the transfer saga

Manchester United outcast Marcus Rashford is closing in on a move to Barcelona, reports said on Saturday.
The 27-year-old has not played for his boyhood club since December 12, and joined Aston Villa on loan in early February.
The Spanish champions have reportedly been his preferred destination since he was dropped by United manager Ruben Amorim.
Britain's Press Association said talks were progressing on a deal to take Rashford to Barcelona, with a season-long loan including an option to buy being worked on.

Rashford is among five players to have informed United they wish to explore a future away from Old Trafford, where he came through the academy and scored 138 goals in 426 first-team appearances.
The England international admitted he was "ready for a new challenge" in December and last month revealed he would like to play alongside Barcelona's teenage prodigy Lamine Yamal.
Rashford has trained away from Amorim's first-team squad since pre-season began.
Barcelona sporting director Deco said in May that he liked Rashford and head coach Hansi Flick described the forward as a "fantastic player".
Rashford does not have a squad number at United having lost the 10 shirt to Brazil forward Matheus Cunha, who arrived at Old Trafford during the current transfer window along with left-back Diego Leon.
Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo is expected to join them after United finally struck a deal with Brentford worth an initial £65 million ($87 million).
United will likely have to fund any further deals through departures.
Even if Rashford were to leave initially on loan, the savings on the wage bill would be significant.
Barcelona had looked set to sign Spain winger Nico Williams but the 23-year-old recently signed a new 10-year contract at Athletic Bilbao.
The Catalan giants won a league and cup double last season -- Flick's first campaign at the club.

Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal lead South Africa in cash-in-transit robberies

Image: KwaZulu Private Ambulance Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal are currently the provinces with the highest risk for cash-in-transit (CIT) robberies. In the first six months of the year, almost 100 CITs have been recorded in South Africa, according to the Cash-in-Transit Association of South Africa (Citasa). A provincial breakdown of these robberies revealed the following: Gauteng (34%), KwaZulu-Natal (33%), North West (9%), Eastern Cape (8%), Western Cape (6%), Mpumalanga (5%), Limpopo (3%) and Free State (2%). 'It is possible that the current trend may continue, but CIT robbers also commit robberies in other provinces, such as the Free State, during July 2025.' Clark said the decline in CIT robberies can be attributed to several factors stemming from the collaboration among various role players. 'One security guard sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was later conveyed to a nearby hospital for medical attention. The suspects also reportedly robbed two firearms and ammunition before fleeing from the scene,' Netshiunda said. Mi7 National Group reported that a CIT robbery occurred on Murray Road, leaving one guard shot and another traumatised. 'One security officer was found on site, disoriented and visibly traumatised, but without physical injury. A second officer was discovered nearby with gunshot wounds and in a serious condition. Mi7 ALS (advanced life support) medics initiated treatment on scene, stabilised the patient with the help of another service provider, and transported him under ALS care to a nearby hospital for further treatment,' Mi7 said. Mi7 added that unconfirmed reports from the scene suggest around 12 suspects using three or four vehicles were involved in the incident. Moreover, the suspects were armed with high-calibre rifles, including AK-47s, and the armoured vehicle was bombed during the incident. KwaZulu Private Ambulance (KZPA) service also responded to the CIT. KZPA spokesperson Craig Botha said it was the second CIT the service responded to this week, following a similar incident on the R34 in Vryheid on Saturday night, which had no injuries.

The allure of such a grand occasion — coupled with the chance to showcase his skills on a monumental stage — likely played a major role in his decision to accept the fight. However, the challenge posed by British heavyweight Lawrence Okolie, who boasts an impressive record of 21 wins and just one defeat, proved to be a daunting one. Many questioned the wisdom of Lerena's camp in taking the bout, especially given Okolie's proven pedigree in the ring. As the contest unfolded, it became evident that Lerena faced an uphill battle.
