In a heartwarming twist, the brothers played their 1994 hit Live Forever in honour of footballer Jota who tragically lost his life in a horror crash yesterday.
The song - their third single - was hailed as the "greatest song of all time" in 2006.
Two years after it was released, Oasis took to the stage in Manchester, in 1996.
During the gig, they played a slideshow of famous musicians who had passed away, of whom Oasis held close to the heart.

Their faces were displayed behind the band, and concluded with a picture of John Lennon.

It comes as deafening applause rang out across the Principality Stadium as a sell-out crowd of 74,500 fans watched the brothers blast out iconic hits on the tour's opening night.
The track F****n' in the Bushes played in the background as newspaper headlines and tweets flashed up on the big screens before the band walked onto the Principality Stadium stage.
Noel, 58, in a denim shirt, and Liam, 52, sporting his iconic parka jacket, then opened with their 1995 track Hello.
During an emotional rendition of Live Forever towards the end of the set, the band led a tribute to Liverpool player Diogo Jota, who tragically died yesterday.

Famous names including Eastenders star Danny Dyer, actress Vicky McClure and one direction star Louis Tomlinson were in attendance for the performance.
Liam shouted "it's good to be back" before going into the next song Acquiesce, striking a familiar pose with his hands behind his back.

At a number of points during the set, Noel and Liam were seen affectionately smiling and nodding at one another.
Before going into Cigarettes & Alcohol, Liam told fans to "jump up and down when the tune starts".
The frenzy literally caused the floor to shake as the band went into Fade Away, Supersonic and Roll With It.
Revellers sang along word-for-word as Noel took the mic to belt out hits Talk Tonight, Half The World Away and Little By Little.

As Liam took a three-song break, Noel made a jibe about rising ticket prices and joked "it's just gone up".
Swaggering back out on stage, Liam asked the crowd: "How we getting on then? You're all looking good."
He returned to be with his older sibling for Do You Know What I Mean.
Rounding off the mellow segment, the duo continued with Stand By Me and Cast No Shadow.

Joking again about ticket prices, before playing Slide Away, Liam asked: 'You're all having a good time yeah?
'Was it worth the £40,000 you paid for a ticket?'
The party was kickstarted in the streets of Cardiff long before the brothers took to the stage for the first time in 16 years tonight.
Gates officially opened at 5pm and tens of thousands of fans poured into the arena to bag a prime spot.

She's managed to bag one of the most enviable addresses in London's Notting Hill without shelling out for rent because she doesn't pay any. Shannon owns her boat outright after snapping it up for £24,000 with help from a bank loan, and now her only regular payments are the loan repayments and day-to-day essentials like gas. The boat is solar-powered so she also doesn't have to pay any electricity bills. Work anywhere – remote working has shot up with the Covid-19 pandemic and what could be better than working from a barge. Declutter your lifestyle – There's not a lot of space on a narrowboat but this can be an advantage as it forces your to get rid of things you don't actually really need. Decluttering your life can do wonders for your wellbeing. Life at a slower pace – anyone fed up of the 9-5 rat race and the pressure to earn money to pay for high-cost living can benefit from the easy-going life on a barge. More environmentally friendly – while not entirely carbon neutral, living on a narrowboat can help the environment as you use less electricity, gas and fuel. Improve fitness – living on a narrowboat doesn't suit a sedentary lifestyle. There are endless tasks that will keep you active, such as operating locks, carrying coal and gas canisters, toilets to empty, wood to chop and weed hatches to clear. Sense of community – many boaters feel a strong sense of community as they are with like-minded people to share tips and advice. Saving money – one big advantage is the amount of money you can save. Big savings can be made on monthly living costs not only from using less gas and electricity but you don't have any costly mortgage or rent payments to cover. The Cons Having to plan ahead – if you have a cruising licence you will need to move every 14 days, so you have to think about the future, where to next, do you have enough supplies to get there? Limited space – narrowboats are restricted in space and you may find you feel claustrophobic living in a confined space. Lack of security – criminals may see a narrowboat as an easy target and you may need to invest in some quality security to keep your things safe. Flavours of Fingal took place over the weekend, and despite being a free event, some attendees had to fork out a hefty sum for nearby parking. The event, now in its 13th year, took place at Newbridge House and Farm with plenty of music, entertainment, farming, food, sport and fun over the weekend. Amongst attendees was comic turned broadcaster PJ Gallagher who has hit out at the local county council for the 'rip off' parking prices. They explained: 'Entry to the event is FREE for those who walk, cycle, travel by public transport (bus and train).' Parking prices ranged from €25 to €40, with PJ hitting out that there was 'no warning about it until it's too late and you're in the queue.'
