Indian Navy participates in Passage Exercise with UK Carrier Strike Group in the North Arabian Sea

Earlier the Indian Navy delegation, led by Rear Admiral Shantanu Jha, NM, participated in the 10th Navy-to-Navy Staff Talks with the Royal Malaysian Navy held in Kuala Lumpur on June 10.
The Royal Malaysian Navy delegation was led by First Admiral Harisundar Rajoo, Senior Director, Operations and Training. During the talks, both sides discussed ongoing bilateral naval engagements and outlined plans for future collaborative activities.

In parallel to the naval dialogue in Kuala Lumpur, India also expanded its diplomatic outreach in the region. Secretary (East) P Kumaran met Permanent Secretary, Brunei Darussalam's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hajah Johariah Binti Abdul Wahab, on the sidelines of East Asia Summit Senior Officials' Meeting (EAS SOM) in Malaysia's Penang on Tuesday. According to The Balochistan Post, Junaid Hameed was allegedly abducted on October 8, 2024, near the Bhawani Shah Pump in Hub Chowki by Pakistani security forces. Merely three days later, on October 11, his elder brother Yasir Hameed was reportedly picked up from Khil, Kalat. Since then, both have remained missing, with no legal acknowledgement or explanation provided by the authorities. In a statement issued this week, their sister Yasmeen Hameed described the past nine months as a 'relentless nightmare' marked by fear, uncertainty, and psychological torment. 'These nine months have been like living through a horror story,' she said. 'Every moment is filled with restlessness, fear, and hopelessness. The silence of the state institutions only deepens our despair.' The Balochistan Post reported that Yasmeen has taken all legal avenues available to her. She has filed numerous petitions, taken part in protest demonstrations, and met with officials who repeatedly assured her of progress. Despite these efforts, no meaningful information has been shared, and no developments have occurred. 'Despite being promised by officials that our loved ones would be surfaced, nothing has changed. My brothers have disappeared,' Yasmeen told The Balochistan Post. Their case highlights a wider pattern of enforced disappearances in Balochistan, where families often face silence, fear, and harassment. Human rights organisations have long raised concerns over the state's failure to ensure justice and accountability in such cases. Yasmeen has now become the public face of her family's struggle. "EC has become Dhritarashtra": Pappu Yadav accuses poll body of "not respecting" constitution amid voter list revision in Bihar
New Delhi [India], July 14 (ANI): Independent MP from Purnea, Pappu Yadav, on Monday criticised the Election Commission of India, calling it 'Dhritrashtra' over their decision to revise electoral rolls in Bihar, and accused them of 'not respecting' the constitution or following Supreme Court advice. Pappu Yadav's remark comes after the Supreme Court allowed the EC to continue Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls while advising them to consider allowing Aadhaar, ration cards, and electoral photo identity cards as admissible documents to prove voter identity. Speaking with ANI, Pappu Yadav said, 'The Election Commission has already become 'Dhritarashtra'. They are neither following the Supreme Court's advice nor respecting the Constitution. The Supreme Court advised them and clearly stated that under no circumstances can you decide who is Indian and who is not. Work under the Constitution and include Aadhaar card along with other documents.' Earlier in the day, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Yogender Chandolia supported the SC's move, and said that names of foreign nationals like those from Nepal, Myanmar, and Bangladesh must be removed. He also said that such individuals should be sent back to their countries and added that this exercise should be carried out in other states as well. Speaking to ANI on Sunday, Yogender Chandolia said, 'Since the Election Commission has started this work in Bihar, it will continue this in other states as well. If the people of Nepal, Myanmar, and Bangladesh are our voters, then what is the point of giving the right to vote to the local residents? Such votes must be deleted, and not only that, these people should be sent back to wherever they are from.' A bench of Justices Sudhanshu Dhulia and Joymalya Bagchi in SC did not stay the SIR process but asked the ECI to consider allowing Aadhaar, ration cards, and electoral photo identity cards as admissible documents to prove voter identity during the SIR of electoral rolls being undertaken in Bihar. Bihar will have Assembly polls later in the year. ECI sources said that after a proper enquiry is conducted from 1 Aug to 30 Aug, if found true, such names shall not be included in the final list to be published on 30 September 2025. The Election Commission of India (ECI) said that till Saturday evening, 80.11 per cent of electors in Bihar submitted their forms, adding that the commission is moving ahead to complete the collection of Enumeration Forms (EFs) before the stipulated time of July 25. India participates in Australia's largest bilateral military exercise, Talisman Sabre, for first time
Adelaide [Australia], July 14 (ANI): India has made its debut in Australia's largest bilateral military exercise, Exercise Talisman Sabre, marking a significant milestone in the deepening defence and security cooperation between the two nations in the Indo-Pacific region. India's participation in the exercise was confirmed by Australia's High Commissioner to India, Philip Green, in a post on X. 'A significant step forward in deepening India-Australia cooperation on defence and security in the Indo-Pacific,' Green stated in the post on Wednesday. According to a post by Talisman Sabre on X, a total of 19 nations will be joining the exercise, including the US and 16 other partner nations and two observer nations. As per Australia's Department of Defence, Exercise Talisman Sabre, the country's largest bilateral military exercise, officially commenced on Sunday, following an opening ceremony on board HMAS Adelaide. Chief of Joint Operations, Vice Admiral Justin Jones, joined US Deputy Commanding General of US Army Pacific, Lieutenant General Joel B Vowell, for the official opening at Garden Island in Sydney. Talisman Sabre 2025 is the 11th iteration of the largest and most sophisticated warfighting exercise ever conducted in Australia. As per the country's Department of Defence, over the next three weeks, as part of the exercise, more than 35,000 military personnel from Australia and partnering nations will deploy across Queensland, Northern Territory, Western Australia, New South Wales and Christmas Island, with activities conducted outside of Australia in Papua New Guinea for the first time. In addition to the US, forces from Canada, Fiji, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Tonga, and the UK will join as partners. Malaysia and Vietnam will also attend as observers. This year's exercise will consist of live-fire exercises and field training activities, incorporating force preparation activities, amphibious landings, ground force manoeuvres, and air combat and maritime operations. It will also feature a range of new Australian Defence Force capabilities, including UH-60M Black Hawks and the Precision Strike Missile. (ANI)
