
UAE President receives Syrian President
ABU DHABI (WAM) President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Monday received His Excellency Ahmad Al-Sharaa, President of the Syrian Arab Republic, who is on a working visit to the country.During the meeting, which took place at Qasr Al Shati in Abu Dhabi, His Highness and the Syrian President discussed the fraternal relations between the two countries and explored ways to enhance cooperation, particularly in the areas of development and the economy, in a manner that serves mutual interests and supports progress and prosperity for their peoples.The two sides also exchanged views on regional issues of mutual concern, emphasising the importance of strengthening the foundations of peace, security, and stability in the Middle East to benefit all its nations and advance the development and prosperity of their peoples.His Highness reaffirmed the country's steadfast position in support of the Syrian people and all efforts aimed at achieving their aspirations for development, stability, and a prosperous future.For his part, the Syrian President expressed his appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the UAE's continued support for Syria and its people, as well as His Highness' commitment to fostering fraternal ties between the two nations. He also wished the UAE continued progress and prosperity.The meeting was attended by His Highness Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs; His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes' Affairs; His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs; Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence; Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Chairman of the UAE Football Association; Ali bin Hammad Al Shamsi, Secretary-General of Supreme Council for National Security; Dr. Anwar Gargash, Diplomatic Adviser to the UAE President; Dr. Ahmed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the President's Office for Strategic Affairs and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Office; Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority; several Sheikhs, and senior officials.It was attended by members of the delegation accompanying the Syrian President, including Asaad Al-Shaibani, Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, and several senior officials.
His Excellency President Al-Sharaa arrived in Abu Dhabi earlier on Monday, where he was received at Al Bateen Airport by His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, along with a number of senior officials.

UAE delegation visits Netherlands, Belgium to explore cooperation in R&D, advanced technologies
11 July 2025 23:30 The HAGUE, NETHERLANDS (WAM)A UAE delegation led by Omran Sharaf, Assistant Foreign Minister for Advanced Science and Technology, concluded a successful visit to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and to imec's headquarters in Brussels, initial part of the visit, to the Netherlands, focused on exploring bilateral relations in critical, emerging and advanced technologies, while spearheading strategic collaboration in mutual priority areas such as R&D, innovation, and advanced technologies, as part of the UAE's unwavering commitment to strengthening partnerships with the AlHefeiti, UAE Ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, accompanied the delegation throughout a series of engagements with high-level officials and Dutch the two-day visit, Sharaf met with Dutch officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including Michiel Sweers, Vice Minister for Foreign Economic Relations, Ernst Noorman, Ambassador-at-Large for Cyber Affairs; as well as Erwin Nijsse, Director-General of Business Policy and Innovation at the Ministry of Economic Affairs; and Harm van de Wetering, Director of the Netherlands Space delegation also participated in a technology and innovation roundtable session with leading Dutch entities, focusing on emerging and advanced technologies, artificial intelligence, space tech, health tech, and scientific delegation visited several leading Dutch institutions during the trip, including TNO, Deltares, ASML, and the Eindhoven University of Technology, to explore potential cooperation on the latest innovations in applied research, water research and technology, semiconductor technology, and academic-industrial collaboration. Israeli air strikes kill, injure dozens of Palestinians in Gaza
11 July 2025 23:46 GAZA (WAM)Israeli forces launched another deadly strike on Friday evening, resulting in the killing and wounding of dozens of civilians throughout the Gaza to the Palestinian News & Information Agency (WAFA), Israeli warplanes targeted a group of civilians near Al-Hurriya School in the Zeitoun neighbourhood, south of Gaza City, killing five civilians and injuring dozens of civilians were also killed and others were wounded in an Israeli airstrike that struck a gathering of civilians, including children, east of Al-Shawwa Square on Salah al-Din Street in eastern Gaza confirmed that at least two more civilians were killed in Israeli shelling targeting two residential buildings in the Zeitoun neighbourhood southeast of Gaza a young girl was killed following an Israeli artillery shelling in the Al-Tuffah neighbourhood, also in eastern Gaza. Meanwhile, a child succumbed to injuries he sustained days earlier after an Israeli strike hit his family's tent in the Al-Mawasi area of Khan Yunis, in southern Gaza. Medical sources in Gaza hospitals reported that at least 24 civilians had been killed by Israeli forces since dawn today, including 10 people who were waiting to receive humanitarian aid.
