
Talks on national plan for women's advancement
The meeting highlighted the Council's commitment to national partnership in advancing women's development, in line with the long-term strategy launched in 2005 under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, with oversight by the Supreme Council for Women led by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of His Majesty the King and President of the Council.
It marked the beginning of a series of similar sessions the Council plans to hold with other national partners involved in implementing the plan, including institutions from the private sector and civil society. SCW Secretary- General Lulwa Al Awadhi outlined the structure and priorities of the new plan, which brings together initiatives that remain pending from previous phases, alongside programmes aligned with the current Government Action Plan.

The statements came during Bahrain's participation in a high-level meeting titled 'Upholding the UN Charter and International Law to Ensure Global Peace and Security', hosted by Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf on the sidelines of the 6th Conference of Speakers of Parliament, organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Geneva from July 29 to 31. Bahrain's delegation was led by First Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives, MP Abdulnabi Salman Ahmed, and Dr. Bassam Ismail Al Binmohammed, member of the Shura Council's Foreign Affairs, Defense and National Security Committee. The delegation stressed that Bahrain's legislative authority actively supports the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in reinforcing international law through national legislation. They added that Bahrain's upcoming membership in the UN Security Council for 2026–2027 reflects the Kingdom's growing global role and the international community's trust in its balanced and peace-driven approach. Finally, the delegation underlined that parliamentary partnerships play a crucial role in promoting human values and fostering international cooperation, reaffirming Bahrain's commitment to participating in global initiatives that strengthen parliamentary diplomacy and collective peace efforts.

Bahrain Celebrates Global Anti-Human Trafficking Day with Continued Commitments to Human Rights
Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani praised Bahrain's achievements in the fight against human trafficking and its strong commitment to protecting human rights, calling the Kingdom a leading regional and international model in this field. He highlighted that these efforts stem from the wise leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. Marking this year's World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, held under the slogan 'Human Trafficking is Organized Crime… Stop Exploitation', Dr. Al Zayani expressed pride in Bahrain's sustained progress. He noted that the country has built a robust legal and judicial system, including Law No. 1 of 2008 to Combat Human Trafficking, aligning with the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime and other international standards. The minister also celebrated the international recognition Bahrain has earned for its human rights record, particularly in protecting vulnerable groups such as women and children, including against online exploitation. Initiatives have included awareness campaigns, training programs, capacity-building efforts, and the establishment of the region's first specialized prosecution office and court for human trafficking cases, as well as a support center for migrant workers. Dr. Al Zayani extended his gratitude to the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking, as well as government ministries, labor market regulators, civil society organizations, and diplomatic missions, for their joint efforts in safeguarding human dignity. He reaffirmed Bahrain's ongoing commitment to strengthening its national response to human trafficking with modern legislation, flexible strategies, and a focus on justice, transparency, and fairness. These efforts, he said, reflect Bahrain's civil and rights-based identity and support the National Human Rights Plan (2022–2026), the Government Action Plan, and the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030, while meeting the highest international standards.

On the occasion of World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, Bahrain's Acting Minister of Labour and Minister of Legal Affairs, Yusuf bin Abdulhussain Khalaf, highlighted the Kingdom's ongoing efforts to combat all forms of human trafficking. He stressed that under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the guidance of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Bahrain has strengthened its position as a regional leader in this field. This comes through an integrated approach that focuses on robust legislation, preventive measures, and alignment with international labor and human rights standards. The minister noted that protecting human rights and fighting trafficking are core principles of Bahrain's governance, emphasizing values of justice, equality, and safeguarding freedoms. He explained that the country's national strategy includes legal action against violators, preventive initiatives in the labor market, and awareness campaigns targeting both workers and employers. Khalaf also highlighted the importance of enhancing guidance services and using modern technology to improve monitoring and response mechanisms. He praised the role of government agencies and civil society in supporting victims, providing them with protection and empowerment. He concluded by stating that combating human trafficking is a shared national responsibility, calling for continued cooperation to maintain Bahrain's position as a model in protecting human rights.
