Positive Points Oshkosh Corp (NYSE:OSK) delivered an adjusted operating margin of 11.5% on revenue of $2.7 billion, leading to an adjusted EPS of $3.41, a 2.1% increase over the prior year. The company signed a three-year sole source contract for the Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV) program with the Department of Defense, expected to yield favorable returns. Oshkosh Corp (NYSE:OSK) achieved a significant milestone with the Next Generation Delivery Vehicle (NGDV) program, surpassing 1.5 million cumulative miles driven by postal workers. The Vocational segment saw a 15% revenue increase and 20% growth in fire apparatus deliveries, contributing to strong segment performance. Oshkosh Corp (NYSE:OSK) increased its free cash flow outlook from $300 million-$400 million to $400 million-$500 million, reflecting improved tax management and operating performance. Negative Points Consolidated sales for the second quarter decreased by $115 million, or 4%, from the same quarter last year, primarily due to lower sales volume in the Access and Transport segments. The Access segment experienced an 11% revenue decline, impacted by the expiration of a production agreement and higher discounts. The Transport segment's revenue decreased by $93 million, with defense vehicle volume lower due to the wind down of the domestic JLTV program. The company faces ongoing tariff headwinds, although it has strategies in place to mitigate these impacts. Oshkosh Corp (NYSE:OSK) anticipates a slightly weaker Access adjusted operating income margin due to market dynamics and tariff impacts. Q & A Highlights Q: On the Access segment, can you provide more detail on the confidence in pricing given the incremental tariff cost pressure? Is the pricing already in the backlog, or is it related to expected orders for the rest of the year? A: Matthew Field, CFO: The second-half results are influenced by seasonality and the impact of tariffs, particularly in the fourth quarter. We've taken mitigation actions against tariffs, and we expect continued discounts and a weaker external environment similar to the first half. The pricing is partly in the backlog, but we also anticipate volume growth in the second half. Q: Can you clarify your tariff commentary? How do you plan to fully offset the headwind, and will this become more of an issue into 2026? A: John Pfeifer, CEO: We still face tariff headwinds, but the environment is slightly better than a quarter ago. We are executing a mitigation strategy, including local-for-local production and supplier negotiations. We believe we have the right strategies to offset tariffs, and business outperformance is helping us meet our $11 EPS guidance. Q: Regarding the Access equipment, can you comment on the competitive environment and customer demand for the second half? A: Matthew Field, CFO: The external environment is as expected, with discounts in the range of 2% to 3%. Book-to-bill has returned to normal levels. John Pfeifer, CEO: Utilization rates are good, with demand driven by infrastructure and data center projects. Private non-residential construction is on hold, but no project cancellations are noted. Q: For the Vocational segment, should we expect similar product mix and margin impact in the second half as in the first half? A: John Pfeifer, CEO: Yes, the strong performance in the fire segment is expected to continue. Pierce, our fire brand, is market-leading, and we are investing in capacity to meet demand. The market is stable, and we anticipate continued growth. Q: How are you thinking about capital allocation and share buybacks, especially with the stock at 52-week highs? A: Matthew Field, CFO: Our priorities remain maintaining a strong balance sheet, organic growth, and share repurchases. Despite the stock's high, we believe our multiples could be higher. We plan to double last year's buyback amount, reflecting increased free cash flow expectations. For the complete transcript of the earnings call, please refer to the full earnings call transcript.
