Vermont's State Treasurer joins finance class at Winooski High School
Vermont State Treasurer Mike Pieciak attended a personal finance class at Winooski High School taught by Courtney Poquette, as he did in 2023 and 2024. He was first elected in November 2022.
Pieciak wrote in a Facebook post, 'Too many Vermonters grow up without learning how to manage their money. At Winooski High School, Ms. Poquette's personal finance course is filling that gap – helping her students make better decisions that will pay dividends in the future.
'It's proof of the impact a great teacher can have, especially for those who don't learn these skills at home or in their community.'

Courtney Poquette's personal finance course has been previously covered by ABC22/FOX44. The class, which is required for students in Winooski but not in most of Vermont, helps students learn about making good purchasing decisions and common business practices among other things.
Pieciak was born in Brattleboro and now lives in Winooski with his partner. For more information about money management and financial literacy, visit Vermont's official website at mymoney.vermont.gov.

How much is UNC's football program valued at?
How much does the UNC football program cost? Thanks to the invention of NIL money and the transfer portal, college football continues to become increasingly professional by the day. UNC's 2025 offseason is a perfect illustration of the changing CFB landscape. Needing a starting quarterback for the fall, North Carolina paid $4 million to land South Alabama transfer quarterback Gio Lopez. The Tar Heels replaced their entire starting defensive line through the portal, plus added Marshall kicker Rece Verhoff. With college football now essentially a "mini-NFL," the question of selling teams comes into play. In The Athletic's recent "valuation rankings", UNC would sell for $572 million, making it the 26th-most valuable college football franchise. North Carolina is one spot behind Ole Miss, which has a $591 million price tag, plus a spot ahead of South Carolina ($563 million.) The Tar Heels generate an average $63.6 million in annual football revenue, a figure that is lowest amongst the Top 30. The portal is a great addition to college sports, particularly for senior-heavy teams needing to replace a plethora of starters, but the portal is also essentially free agency. Think about professional sports: you have franchise cornerstones, who remain on the same rosters for extended periods of time, but trades and free agency create a sense of unknown. UNC has high expectations heading into its 2025 season, thanks to hiring 8-time Super Bowl champion Bill Belichick as its next head coach. If North Carolina somehow wins the ACC and makes the College Football Playoff, its program value will shoot up closer towards SEC numbers. If the Tar Heels struggle again this fall, their value will stay the same – or even decrease. People are less likely to pay and see a losing product, which UNC proved to be again in 2024. Many Ecwid merchants focus on product titles, descriptions & tags, but often forget one of the most important elements for accessibility and search visibility: image alt text. Alt text (alternate text) is what screen readers use to describe images to visually impaired users. It is also a critical component of ADA compliance & WCAG accessibility guidelines. More importantly, alt text helps search engines understand what your images are about, making your store more discoverable on Google. However, writing alt text for hundreds (or thousands) of product images manually? That is where most merchants drop off. AltTextify is the first and only AI-powered alt text generator for Ecwid's App Market. With just one click, you can automatically generate SEO optimized, ADA compliant alt text for all your product images, saving time, boosting SEO & enhancing accessibility. How it works: AI-Powered Descriptions: AltTextify uses advanced image recognition and product data to generate natural, keyword-friendly alt text. AltTextify takes what is typically a tedious, manual task & turns it into an efficient, one-click solution. To maximize visibility for your AltTextify plugin on Ecwid, here are 3 SEO-rich places to include it naturally: 1. Ecwid Help Center or Community Forums Many Ecwid merchants ask how to improve their SEO or make their stores accessible. You can answer relevant threads with advice and include a link to AltTextify as a solution: 'Looking for an easier way to generate image alt text for your store? Try Alt Text plugin for Ecwid, an AI-based plugin that helps boost both accessibility and SEO.' 2. Guest Blog Posts or Partner Sites Consider writing a guest article for a web design or digital marketing blog, targeting Ecwid users. For example: 'Tools like AltTextify can help store owners create inclusive, search-friendly stores without spending hours on manual tagging.' 3. Your Product Listing or Feature Page Ensure your own marketing pages, SEO snippets (or) paid ad landing pages include this anchor: 'Use AltTextify for Ecwid to automatically generate alt text and improve your image SEO today.' A great product image might catch a customers eye, but without descriptive alt text, it stays invisible to both search engines and users with screen readers. With Ecwid's streamlined commerce tools and AltTextify's smart automation, you get the best of both worlds: a high-performing, accessible, and SEO‑optimized store that reaches more customers. If you are ready to elevate your Ecwid store's image SEO and accessibility, AltTextify is just one click away. TIME BUSINESS NEWS

Threads adds improved content performance metrics for creators
Threads is introducing enhanced metrics to help users better understand how their posts are performing and where their content is getting discovered, the company announced on Tuesday. Users can now see more detailed information in the platform's 'Insights' dashboard. When they navigate to the 'Interactions' section, they will see engagement by likes, replies, quotes, and reposts. The 'Followers' section shows follower growth with geographic data, including top cities and countries, and demographic information like age range and gender. In addition, users can see how their post performance has changed through a new chart that's designed to showcase trends in their content for a seven- to 90-day period. Since eligible Threads posts can be recommended to people on Instagram and Facebook, Threads will now let users see the places where people encounter their content. They can see the percentage of views each app drove for their posts. The Meta-owned platform says the updates are focused on helping creators build audiences, grow their presence, and understand what sorts of content resonates with their followers. The move comes as Threads is growing fast. Recent data from market intelligence provider Similarweb revealed that the platform is catching up to top competitor X in terms of mobile app users. In June 2025, Threads' mobile app for iOS and Android saw 115.1 million daily active users, representing 127.8% year-over-year growth. On the other hand, X reached 132 million daily actives, with its year-over-year growth declining by 15.2%. It makes sense for Threads to equip creators on its platform with additional tools to build out their presence on the social network as it continues to take on X and other competitors.
