Iranian Embassy Flags Fake Social Media Accounts Undermining India-Iran Relations

NDTV6 days ago
The Iranian Embassy in New Delhi has issued a stern warning about a series of fake social media accounts impersonating official Iranian entities, allegedly aiming to disrupt the diplomatic relationship between Iran and India.
In a post on X, the embassy highlighted that these fraudulent accounts are disseminating misinformation, including false claims about Iran reconsidering the Chabahar port agreement with India due to alleged US military activities.
Some fake channels, under the name of Iran, are attempting to damage Iran-India relations.
These accounts do not belong to Iran.

The embassy shared screenshots of several such deceptive profiles, some bearing blue verification ticks, which could mislead users into believing their authenticity. Among the false narratives propagated is the assertion that Iran is reevaluating its strategic partnership with India, particularly concerning the Chabahar port project. These claims have been identified as baseless and are seen as attempts to sow discord between the two nations.
Investigations suggest that many of these fake accounts originate from Pakistan, indicating a coordinated effort to manipulate public perception and strain India-Iran relations.
This development is particularly concerning given India's unique diplomatic stance during recent regional tensions, where it maintained open channels with both Israel and Iran. Notably, during the 12-day conflict between Israel and Iran, India's balanced approach was evident.
Further emphasising the strength of India-Iran ties, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian was present in New Delhi during India's Operation Sindoor, an evacuation mission amid the Israel-Iran conflict. During his visit, he expressed Iran's willingness to mediate between India and Pakistan, showcasing Tehran's commitment to regional stability.

The Pakistan Aviation Authority (PAA) on Friday issued a Notam (notice to airmen) that the Rahim Yar Khan airbase will remain out of operations till August 5. This is the sixth Notam that Pakistan has issued since May 10 when India struck the airbase along with several other military sites. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD As with previous Notams, the latest notice has also said that the runway is not available for operations due to work in progress — an apparent reference to reconstruction after Indian strikes. Pakistan's Rahim Yar Khan airbase is a dual-purpose facility. While the Pakistani Air Force has stationed fighter planes and drones at the base and uses it as a forward bases for operations against India, civilian flights operates from a full-fledged civilian airport called Shaikh Zayed International Airport. Both the air force and civilian planes use the same runway. During Operation Sindoor that India launched on the night of May 6-7, India struck several Pakistani military sites, including airbases, air defence units, and radar sites. India targeted military installations after Pakistan attacked India after India's initial strikes on May 6-7 night on terrorist sites in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (POJK). The battering over four days forced Pakistan to request a ceasefire on May 10 — a request that India granted. Understanding Pakistan's Notam for Rahim Yar Khan airbase Without going into the specifics, the Notam has said in its technical language that the airport's runway will remain out of operations till August 5. See the notification below. The Notam (notice to airmen) issued by Pakistan for the Rahim Yar Khan airbase on July 18, 2025. (Photo: Pakistan Aviation Authority) The 'OPRK' is the code for the Rahim Yar Khan Airport and 'QMRLC' refers to Notam's subject and status: 'QMR' meaning runway and 'LC' meaning it is closed. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD The '2507170540' refers to the start time of the Notam at July 17, 2025, at 05:40 am and '2508052359' refers to the estimated end time of the Notam at August 5, 2025 at 11:59 pm. The 'RWY NOT AVBL FOR FLT OPS DUE WIP' means that the runway is not available for flight operations due to work in progress. Therefore, in plain language, the technical notice reads as: The Rahim Khan Yar Airport is not available for flight operations from 5:40 am on July 17, 2025, to 11:59 pm on August 5 because the runway is not available as work is in progress at the runway.

Iran will not enter new negotiations with the US under the previous framework or agenda, according to a senior official. The official said that Iran has learnt lessons and therefore demands any negotiations must be consistent with the security realities of the region.'For now, we think the purpose of the negotiations is to disarm Iran to make up for Israel's weakness in the next war,' the official said, as per Press TV. The official added that any new round of talks must include 'serious and practical guarantees' to ensure the process is not a cover for security The Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces has warned that any renewed US-Israeli 'aggression would be met with an even more devastating response.' The remarks come a day after Iran's top military commanders warned they 'are fully prepared to resume combat from exactly where it stopped.' n18oc_world n18oc_crux0:00 INTRODUCTION2:22 IRAN WARNS EU ON SNAPBACK SANCTIONS3:28 IRAN'S FORCES 'FULLY PREPARED TO RESUME COMBAT' IF…4:26 ISRAEL'S HAIFA REFINERY SUSTAINS $200 MN DAMAGE IN IRANIAN ATTACK6:02 IRAN BOASTS OF 'INTEL PENETRATION INTO ZIONIST REGIME'8:00 IRAN SLAMS ISRAEL'S 'DANGEROUS AGGRESSION' AGAINST SYRIA

India hails listing of TRF by US as affirmation of counter-terror cooperation

New Delhi: India on Friday hailed the designation of The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy for Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba responsible for the Pahalgam attack, as a global terrorist organisation by the US as a 'strong affirmation' of bilateral counter-terrorism cooperation. External affairs minister S Jaishankar conveyed his appreciation to his American counterpart Marco Rubio and the US state department for designating TRF as a global terrorist organisation. (@DrSJaishankar) External affairs minister S Jaishankar conveyed his appreciation to his American counterpart Marco Rubio and the US state department for designating TRF as a Foreign Terrorist Organisation (FTO) and Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT), while the external affairs ministry described the move as a 'timely and important' step reflecting the deep counter-terror cooperation between the two sides. 'A strong affirmation of India-US counter-terrorism cooperation,' Jaishankar said on social media. 'It [TRF] claimed responsibility for the April 22 Pahalgam attack. Zero tolerance for Terrorism.' India's reaction came hours after the US state department announced the listing of the TRF as a terrorist organisation, citing its claim of responsibility for the Pahalgam attack on April 22 that killed 26 civilians. 'This was the deadliest attack on civilians in India since the 2008 Mumbai attacks conducted by LeT,' Rubio said in a statement. A readout from the external affairs ministry acknowledged Rubio's leadership in this regard and emphasised India's call for global cooperation in the fight against terror and for dismantling terror infrastructure. 'The designation of TRF is a timely and important step reflecting the deep cooperation between India and the United States on counter-terrorism,' the readout said. 'India remains committed to a policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism and will continue to work closely with its international partners to ensure that terrorist organisations and their proxies are held accountable.' Both India and the US noted that TRF has been involved in numerous terror-related activities, besides the Pahalgam attack, for which it twice claimed responsibility. The US state department noted that TRF had also claimed responsibility for several attacks on Indian security forces, including most recently in 2024. Also read: US declares Pahalgam attack's 'The Resistance Front' as terrorists Rubio noted that the actions taken by the US state department demonstrate the Trump administration's commitment to 'protecting our national security interests, countering terrorism, and enforcing President Trump's call for justice for the Pahalgam attack'. TRF and other aliases of the group – Kashmir Resistance Front and Kashmir Resistance – were added to designation of the LeT as a foreign terrorist organisation under the provisions of the Immigration and Nationality Act and Executive Order 13224. The US state department also reviewed and maintained the designation of the LeT. Also Read: 'Pahalgam attack was...': What Marco Rubio said as US designates The Resistance Front as terrorist group Days after the Pahalgam attack, Pakistan's foreign minister Ishaq Dar had spoken in the Senate or upper house of Parliament about Islamabad removing a reference to TRF in a press statement issued by the UN Security Council to condemn the incident. The statement, issued on April 25, had condemned the Pahalgam attack and underlined the need to hold its perpetrators, organisers, financiers and sponsors accountable and bring them to justice. However, Dar claimed in Parliament on April 30 that Pakistan, currently a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, had objected to a reference to TRF in the original statement proposed by the US. He claimed TRF was formed in Jammu and Kashmir as a response to the scrapping of the region's special status by the Indian government in August 2019. Dar said this was 'not acceptable' to Pakistan and had sought evidence of TRF's involvement in the attack. He added that he told the members of the security council that they have to 'delete this TRF' from the statement.
