Now in its seventh consecutive year, the Smart Investor Program continues to serve as a key national initiative aimed at strengthening financial literacy among young learners. Fintech Alaan raises $48 million to equip MENA finance teams with AI agents

Alaan, the Middle East's leading spend management platform for businesses, has raised $48 million - one of the largest Series A funding rounds in the history of the region. The round was led by Peak XV Partners (formerly Sequoia Capital India & SEA) with significant participation from the founders of 885 Capital, Sudeep Ramnani & Jai Mahtani, Y Combinator, 468 Capital, and Pioneer Fund. The round was heavily oversubscribed and includes both primary and secondary funding. The round also included support from leading regional operators Hosam Arab, founder of Tabby; Mudassir Sheikha, founder of Careem; Jeppe Rindom, founder of Pleo; Khalid Al Ameri, founder of KAM and one of the Middle East's well-known creators; Abdallah Abu-Sheikh, founder of Astra Tech; Yi Wei Ang, CPO of Talabat; Parth Garg, founder of Aspora and many others. The funds will accelerate Alaan's expansion in Saudi Arabia and power the next phase of its growth, focused on AI-driven finance automation. 'The category has demonstrated strong product-market fit in the MENA region, and Alaan stands out as the category leader, demonstrated by their impressive growth trajectory,' said GV Ravishankar, managing director at Peak XV. 'Parthi, Karun, and the team are a high-energy, execution-focused group. Their customer-centric and product-led mindset from day one has enabled them to build solutions tailored to the needs of modern finance teams. We're excited to partner with a company that is shaping the future of fintech in the region,' added Ravishankar. Since launching in 2022, Alaan has processed over 2.5 million transactions and is trusted by over 1500 finance teams at leading companies such as G42, Careem, Tabby, Lulu Group, Rivoli and more. The company launched in KSA earlier this year and has been doubling its transaction volumes MoM for 6 months straight. Sudeep Ramnani, founder and managing partner at 885 Capital, said: 'Alaan is pioneering a new era of finance for businesses in the Middle East, where automation, transparency, and intelligence power every transaction. We're proud to partner with a team that's setting a new standard for how modern companies manage spend.' 'This funding helps us go faster and deeper in KSA while helping us strengthen our roots in the UAE,' added Parthi Duraisamy, co-founder and CEO of Alaan. 'We plan to build a full-fledged finance ops platform for businesses in the region. While our existing AI agents are taking on tasks like receipt matching, manual reconciliation, and VAT extraction to save real time and money, we can now focus on expanding our product offerings to take more manual work off the plate for finance teams and give them full control.' The company's spend management platform has already saved finance teams more than 1.5 million hours of manual work, a number Alaan expects to multiply as it continues investing in automation. Alaan is ramping up hiring across sales, customer success, and compliance in Saudi Arabia with this raise and also its local partnerships to better serve the Kingdom's fast-growing business ecosystem.

Adjusted EBITDA rose 11 per cent to AED 718 million, maintaining a healthy margin of 75 per cent. Dubai Residential REIT posts strong H1 growth Portfolio occupancy reached 98 per cent, an improvement of two percentage points from H1 2024. The gross asset value stood at AED 23 billion as of 30 June 2025, up 7 per cent from December 2024, while the REIT maintained a conservative net loan-to-value ratio of 3 per cent and liquidity of AED 2.9 billion. Nabil Mohammad Ramadhan, Chairman of the Board of Directors, said: 'Dubai Residential REIT's strong first-half results mark a key milestone in our journey as a newly listed entity and reaffirm the strength of our long-term strategic vision, institutional governance, and value-driven approach. I am pleased to share that the Board has approved an interim cash dividend of AED 550 million for H1 2025 to be distributed in September 2025, reflecting our confidence in the REIT's financial resilience and long-term value proposition.' 'As one of Dubai's largest residential landlords, the REIT provides unitholders with access to a resilient, professionally managed platform that reflects the city's ongoing transformation and global appeal. Backed by a robust financial foundation and supportive macroeconomic fundamentals, the Board remains focused on ensuring disciplined stewardship, delivering stable income, and driving sustained long-term value for our unitholders — while contributing to Dubai's broader urban and economic development agenda,' he added. Ahmed Al Suwaidi, Managing Director of DHAM REIT Management, said: 'Dubai Residential REIT's strong first-half performance reflects disciplined execution across every aspect of our operations — from asset management and leasing to tenant retention and service delivery. The REIT follows a semi-annual dividend distribution policy, with payments scheduled in April and September. The Board approved an interim cash dividend of AED 550 million for H1 2025, to be distributed in September. Looking ahead, the outlook for Dubai's residential real estate market remains positive, supported by sustained population growth, rising per capita income, and ongoing government reforms attracting skilled professionals and affluent residents. Dubai Residential REIT's portfolio includes approximately 15,200 residential units spread across 28 communities, offering investors exposure to a diversified and income-generating asset base in Dubai's rapidly growing residential market.

Parkin to roll out 29,600 paid parking spaces across key Dubai Holding communities

Dubai's Parkin announced on Tuesday, August 5, that it will be rolling out paid parking spaces in key communities across the city as it partners up with Dubai Holding. Under the new agreement, Parkin will operate and manage 29,600 paid parking spaces. The initiative is a response to increasing pressure on parking availability across key destinations. The operational rollout is expected to proceed in phases. This expands the company's total developer-owned portfolio to 50,400 spaces, with a moderate impact on operational income from mid-Q3 2025. Through this agreement, it will oversee the end-to-end management of parking operations, by deploying its digital technologies, enforcement systems and real-time data analytics to enhance operational efficiency and optimise parking management across the designated areas. For those living in Dubai Holding communities, this will enhance space optimisation, accessibility, smart mobility and urban connectivity, while also improving traffic flow in general, reducing congestion and enhancing the day-to-day mobility experience for residents and visitors.
