Lko DM visits Malihabad, spotlights ‘Kavach' to boost mango exports
During his field visit, he reviewed the 'Kavach bagging technique' being implemented by farmers. The method, used to protect mangoes from pests and improve fruit quality, was noted as a step forward in modernising traditional practices.
Addressing a gathering of growers, the DM encouraged farmers to strengthen their participation in export-related activities by working closely with local mango pack houses. He also interacted with officials from the horticulture department to promote government-backed schemes for horticulture.
The visit coincided with the district receiving the geographical indication (GI-125) user certificate for the Malihabadi Dasheri mango. Congratulating the Awadh Mango Producer and Horticulture Committee, Vishak said the certificate would help in expanding the international footprint of this distinct variety of mango.
The DM was joined by deputy director DK Verma of the horticulture department and other officials. General secretary Upendra Singh of the committee, along with mango growers Mahendra Singh, Rohit Jaiswal, and Muslekhuddin, also took part in the event.

Over 2 lakh Indians gave up their citizenship in 2024, says govt data
Over two lakh Indians have surrendered their Indian citizenship in 2024, Minister of State for the external affairs ministry Kirti Vardhan Singh said on Thursday. While as many as 2,06,378 Indians renounced their citizenship last year, 2,16,219 gave it up in 2023. In 2022, the number stood at 2,25,620, in 2021, it was 1,63,370, in 2020, it was 85,256, and in 2019, the number of people to have given up their Indian citizenship was 1,44,017. For renouncing the Indian citizenship, an applicant has to apply online at the portal The concerned authority, the District Collector (in India) or Consular Officer (outside India) in Indian Mission/Post, as the case may be, verifies the original passport and other details. The concerned authority, after verifying all particulars mentioned in the declaration form submitted by the applicant, uploads all requisite documents for all stakeholder agencies/government departments to submit their inputs or remarks within 30 days. The concerned authority then approves the renunciation certificate in the online module after 30 days of acknowledgement after carrying out all necessary verifications of the documents. The process may take about 60 days from the date of uploading of signed hard copy of the declarant by the concerned Indian Mission/Post or concerned DM/DC office. The Indian Mission/Post or DM/DC office then uploads the signed hard copy after verification of the documents. After you have given up your Indian citizenship, you would also have to surrender all the documents which you had acquired on the basis of your Indian citizenship (voter id, Aadhaar card, driving license etc.) to the concerned authorities. If a person denounces their Indian citizenship, every minor child of that person also automatically denounce their citizenship. However, such children may, within one year after attaining full age, can make a declaration that they wish to resume their Indian citizenship. You could renounce your Indian citizenship but then you'd become stateless, which is not desirable.

Loudspeakers, drums banned at Naina Devi Temple during Shravan Ashtami fair in Himachal
A ban has been imposed on the use of loudspeakers, drums, and bands inside the Shri Naina Devi complex during the Shravan Ashtami fair , starting from July 25 till August 3, according to a statement issued on Sunday. According to the orders, District Magistrate Rahul Kumar has also banned the use of bamboo baskets for offering halwa, coconut, and prasad in the temple premises. Kumar said that adequate arrangements have been made by the district administration to control the crowd and maintain law and order. Home Guard, Fifth Corps, Bilaspur, has been directed to deploy 500 home guards (including female home guards) at the fair. Groundwater awareness week starts July 16 in dist
1 2 Kanpur: Like previous years, the district administration will observe this year too "Ground water Week" from July 16 to July 22 to increase public awareness towards ground water conservation. District magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh in a meeting with officials said that besides the active participation of all departments, local schools, colleges and educational institutions will also take part in the event. He said that integrated development and conservation of groundwater was among the top priorities of the state government. Construction/restoration of ponds for groundwater recharge, construction of check dams and water efficient technologies like drip and sprinkler were being promoted. At the same time, to control uncontrolled exploitation, Uttar Pradesh Groundwater (Management and Regulation) Act 2019 has been effectively implemented, under which the District Groundwater Management Council was constituted in every district, he added. The DM said that as a result of these joint efforts, in the last 7 years, 34 development blocks of the state have overcome water crisis and improvement in ground water level. This progress shows the success of the government's efforts towards ground water conservation. He informed that Jal Shakti Abhiyan-VI has been launched on March 22 with the theme "Water Conservation Public Participation--Towards Public Awareness". It aims to effectively promote works like construction of artificial structures for rainwater harvesting, revival of water bodies and rejuvenation of rivers. "If water is safe then tomorrow is safe" has been made the main theme of this year's Groundwater Week, Singh said. He directed all the departments concerned to effectively organize programs between July 16 to July 22.
