Priyanka Chopra's Third-Wheel Moment With John Cena & Idris Elba

Priyanka Chopra's Third-Wheel Moment With John Cena & Idris Elba

Buzz Feed15 hours ago
Idris Elba, John Cena and Priyanka Chopra have teamed up for a silly action flick with a side of romance — or rather...bromance. Give the trailer a watch:
Heads Of State follows US President Will Derringer (played by John) and UK Prime Minister Sam Clarke (Idris) after a covert operation goes sideways. The result? Their private Air Force One plane goes down in a hijacking before a critical NATO summit.
Despite their hatred for one another, the pair must work together to keep the world's alliances intact.
Alongside them is Priyanka's undercover agent character, Noel Bisset. And honestly, she's a certified UNIT.
The film is the perfect Friday/weekend night watch (with some takeaway ordered and a bathrobe on). If you love dry jokes, unlikely friendships and "stylistic" fight sequences that'll either make you giggle or make you say "Woah" — add this to your list.
There's plenty of chemistry between all three stars and it might make you wonder whose really falling for whom. Don't worry just strap in and keep an open mind. It's seriously just a bit of fun.
Ahead of its drop on Prime Video, the trio let BuzzFeed Australia into some action star secrets, what they learned from each other and who was the third wheel on set. Here's what Priyanka, Idris and John had to say about Heads of State.
BFOZ: Heads of State was a mix of action and silliness. So, we need to know — who was the biggest goofball on set and who was most likely to mess up a take?
BFOZ: Priyanka — John and Idris share what feels like an enemies-to-lovers type of bromance in the film — did you ever feel like a third wheel working with these two unlikely best friends?
Idris: That's really kind but, the truth is when Priyanka walked on stage...we became the sidemen. We did. John: [Idris and I] had weeks to warm up, we were shooting with each other for weeks, we had a camera dynamic. We got each other's social profile. [Priyanka] walks on in one day and it's like — alright this is a power trio.
BFOZ: And finally, you've all had your fair share of action roles, but was there anything that you learnt from each other about playing big, cool action stars?
Priyanka: We were thrown a lot of things and retakes many, many times but working with pros is so amazing because everyone knows their job and how to do it safely and do it well. So you're never nervous when you're doing action, that someone's going to get hurt. I never felt that on set and that only comes from that kind of experience.
John: A lot of the action in this movie is stylistic, but it's also action comedy. You get notes on how to do the action and I love watching professionals adjust to feedback and not be able to just fight but because it is action comedy, there had to be a lot of emotion with the action. Watching [Priyanka and Idris] take notes and apply feedback because...there were notes and there was a lot of feedback, seeing the choices they make when given the direction — sometimes an ambiguous direction — is interesting.
You can watch this power trio in Prime Video's new movie Heads of State — streaming from 5PM AEST on July 2.

Donald Trump Suffers Double Legal Deportation Setback Within Hours

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The Trump administration suffered two deportation-related legal defeats in New York and Virginia on Tuesday. A New York judge blocked a proposal to strip thousands of Haitian migrants of legal protections, and judges in Virginia rejected a bid to place Georgetown University academic Badar Khan Suri into immigration detention for a second time. Why It Matters President Donald Trump has made cracking down on immigration a policy priority for his second administration, deporting migrants living in the U.S. illegally and revoking the temporary protected status of migrants residing in the U.S. legally. The president recently said there were no illegal crossings into the U.S. via its southern border in May. As Republicans control the White House, Senate and House of Representatives, the courts have become one of the main impediments to the Trump administration's decisions. What To Know On Tuesday, a court blocked an attempt by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem to remove temporary protected status, which allows eligible nationals to live and work in the U.S., from hundreds of thousands of Haitian migrants. The Eastern District of New York's Judge Brian Cogan ruled that Noem did "not have statutory or inherent authority" to remove the protections, which the Biden administration extended to February 2026. Cogan said Noem would have to wait on the "statutorily prescribed procedures Congress has enacted," preventing her from ending the protections before February. The Obama administration first issued temporary protected status for Haitian migrants in 2010 and repeatedly extended the protections. The first Trump administration attempted to end the designation in 2017, but court delays meant nothing happened until Biden took office in 2021 and continued the status. ANDREW CABALLERO-REYNOLDS/AFP/GETTY Haiti descended into anarchy following the assassination of its president in 2021, and large swaths of the country are controlled by feuding criminal gangs. During a presidential election debate in September, Trump repeated the false claim that Haitian migrants were stealing and eating cats and dogs in Springfield, Ohio, which local authorities denied. In a 2-1 ruling on Tuesday, judges on the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Virginia also rejected the Trump administration's attempt to take Khan Suri into immigration custody for a second time, following his initial arrest by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers in March. Khan Suri was held at a Texas detention facility, but U.S. District Judge Patricia Tolliver Giles ordered his release in May. In their majority decision, Judges James Wynn and DeAndrea Gist Benjamin said taking Khan Suri into detention again would be a violation of habeas corpus, which prevents arrests without due legal process. The Department of Homeland Security said that while at Georgetown, Khan Suri was involved in "spreading Hamas propaganda and promoting antisemitism on social media." Khan Suri has strongly denied these claims. What People Are Saying Tricia McLaughlin, the assistant secretary for public affairs at the Department of Homeland Security, told Newsweek: "This ruling delays justice and seeks to kneecap the President's constitutionally vested powers under Article II [of the Constitution]. Haiti's TPS was granted following an earthquake that took place over 15 years ago, it was never intended to be a de facto asylum program, yet that's how previous administrations have used it for decades. The Trump administration is restoring integrity to our immigration system to keep our homeland and its people safe, and we expect a higher court to vindicate us in this. We have the law, the facts, and common sense on our side." Judges James Wynn and DeAndrea Gist Benjamin wrote in their majority opinion in Badar Khan Suri's case: "The government chose to move Suri without informing his wife or attorney of his location or custodian. If not for our conclusion that jurisdiction lies in the Eastern District of Virginia, that deliberate choice would have deprived the petitioner of any meaningful opportunity to contest his detention prior to removal to a distant jurisdiction." Judge J. Harvie Wilkinson III wrote in dissent: "The district court found that he presents neither a danger to the community nor a risk of flight, which are both important considerations in rulings on pretrial release and bond pending appeal. Yet the government's jurisdictional arguments with regard to the INA [Immigration and Nationality Act] are not without considerable force." What Happens Next It remains to be seen whether the Trump administration will appeal either or both of Tuesday's rulings. On June 27, the Supreme Court issued a 6-3 ruling curbing the power of lower courts to obstruct the Trump administration's policy in response to a birthright citizenship case.

'Heads of State' movie review: John Cena, Idris Elba fuel fizzy action flick

Action movies have long strained the limits of credulity. Take 'Heads of State,' for example. Idris Elba has charisma and gravitas for days, so being prime minister of England doesn't seem like that much of a stretch. John Cena as president of the United States, though? Can't see him, honestly. As mismatched frenemy world leaders, Elba and Cena actually work well together in that 1980s buddy sense in the action comedy 'Heads of State' (★★½ out of four; rated PG-13; streaming now on Prime Video). Everything around them is far-fetched nonsense, but they're at least fun together, bantering and trying to out-macho each other through a series of explosive misadventures. President Will Derringer (Cena), the former star of the 'Water Cobra' movie franchise, is enjoying the honeymoon phase a few months into his first term. British Prime Minister Sam Clarke (Elba), an ex-soldier, is suffering from slumping approval ratings and bad PR after a botched spy mission. Join our Watch Party! Sign up to receive USA TODAY's movie and TV recommendations right in your inbox But the 'special relationship' is kind of a hot mess as the two dudes do not like each other. Sam thinks POTUS is a 'gym strong' idiot. Will is still spicy that Sam endorsed his opponent (apparently there was fish and chips involved). Yet they kind of need each other, which is why Sam hitches a ride to an important NATO meeting in Italy on Air Force One. But there's also a global conspiracy to take down NATO, and Air Force One is hijacked. Will and Sam parachute to safety yet the plane crashes. With the world thinking they're dead, the two guys get all their macho bickering out and work together to make the big meeting and keep the bad guys from killing them before they get there. The reluctant pals get some help from a couple of strong supporting characters. Priyanka Chopra Jonas is a joy here as Sam's ex, top MI6 agent Noel Bisset, who finds them and is way better than either of the two at action-hero stuff. And Jack Quaid has a small role as an excitable weapons specialist they run into at a CIA safe house. Cena and Elba showed strong chemistry in 'The Suicide Squad' and that carries over, though 'Heads of State' ends up being a better showcase for Elba, since he's grumpily hilarious even as the straight man to a likably goofy Cena. And the two don't go overtly political either, which they easily could have, given Will's celebrity background and America's current standing in the world. The movie is mostly quippy in that sense, like when Sam pushes pretending they're Canadian in the European wilderness. But the comedy overall isn't as strong as the action sequences: Director Ilya Naishuller ('Nobody') crafts some intricate and slightly amazing stuff – including one well-choreographed fiery bit involving the president's 'Beast' limo. While humorous enough, the movie begs to be in the same silly vein as 'Tropic Thunder' and just can't make the most of its funny bone. 'Heads of State' is a bomb pop of a summer movie. It works as a fizzy, somewhat kid-friendly throwback to action-packed '80s partnerships – think 'Tango & Cash' or 'Lethal Weapon' – that doesn't take itself too seriously and, for a starry streaming action flick, thankfully isn't a lame duck. Where can I watch 'Heads of State'? The John Cena/Idris Elba action comedy "Heads of State" is streaming now on Amazon's Prime Video and is rated PG-13 by the Motion Picture Association "for sequences of strong violence/action, language and some smoking."

Prime Video teases brutal origin story in first trailer for 'The Terminal List' prequel series — here's what you should know

The world of 'The Terminal List' is expanding, and if the first Prime Video trailer for 'Dark Wolf' is anything to go by, things are about to get even darker. The upcoming prequel series dives deep into the past of Ben Edwards (Taylor Kitsch), offering fans a gritty look at the events that shaped one of the franchise's most complicated characters. Set years before the events of the original series led by Chris Pratt's James Reece, 'Dark Wolf' trades covert operations for explosive chaos, showing the moral compromises and haunting choices that turned Edwards into the man viewers met in 'The Terminal List.' In the trailer, a voiceover says, 'I need two shooters for a time sensitive op. I'm offering you a chance to finish what you started, and to keep your brothers from danger.' It all builds to a chilling final line: 'The only way out is right through it.' From intense shootouts to hand-to-hand combat, the trailer shows just how brutal this origin story really is, and it doesn't look like it holds back when it comes to the emotional toll of war. While Pratt doesn't take center stage this time, his presence is still made obvious in the teaser, reminding fans that these stories are deeply connected. Whether you're a fan of the original series or just love a military thriller, 'Dark Wolf' looks like it could be another hit for the streaming service. Here's everything you need to know before it lands on Prime Video on August 27, 2025. A few weeks ago, Prime Video released a batch of first-look images, and while this press release kept most of the plot under wraps, the photos did give us a glimpse at the core cast. Now, with this new trailer, it seems like more of the narrative has been revealed. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. The series dives into Edwards' backstory, tracing his journey from a disciplined Navy SEAL to a covert CIA operative, and uncovering the path that led him deep into the web of corruption central to 'The Terminal List.' It also shows his early connection with James Reece (a bond rooted in loyalty and shared experience) while revealing the choices and circumstances that hardened him into the conflicted man fans came to know. As his moral compass begins to falter, the story underscores a key theme of the franchise: that even the most principled soldiers can be broken by grief, ambition, and the seduction of power. The plot synopsis reads: 'Co-created by The New York Times bestselling author of The Terminal List, Jack Carr, and season One creator-showrunner David DiGilio, The Terminal List: Dark Wolf is a prequel series with an origin story that follows Ben Edwards (Taylor Kitsch) throughout his journey from the Navy SEALs to the clandestine side of CIA Special Operations. 'The series is an espionage thriller that explores the darker side of warfare and the human cost that comes with it. It also features Chris Pratt reprising his role as James Reece.' Kitsch said in an interview with USA Today: 'This is the origin story. This is the story that gets us to that point. There was so much heat around Edwards with that twist and all these questions about how. You're going to learn a heck of a lot more about who Ben really is and these twists and turns that led to that decision.' The prequel series brings together an impressive supporting cast, with Tom Hopper stepping into the role of Raife Hastings, Robert Wisdom playing Jed Haverford, and Luke Hemsworth appearing as Jules Landry. Joining them are Dar Salim as Mohammed Farooq, Rona-Lee Shimon as Eliza Perash, Shiraz Tzarfati as Tal Varon, and Jared Shaw as Ernest 'Boozer' Vickers, along with a number of other familiar faces filling out the ensemble. Following the breakout success of 'The Terminal List,' season 2 is officially in production, with Chris Pratt set to return as Reece. So it seems like this prequel series is arriving at the perfect time. With 'Dark Wolf' expanding the unflinching universe of 'The Terminal List,' Prime Video is doubling down on the franchise's intense action and fan-favorite characters. If the first trailer is any indication, viewers should brace themselves for what could be another brutal ride. 'The Terminal List: Dark Wolf' premieres with three episodes on August 27 on Prime Video, with new episodes dropping every Wednesday after that.
