Dow insists Red Roses aren't getting ahead of themselves
Backed by what will be a vociferous home crowd, the Red Roses are favourites to lift the trophy for a third time but Dow insists previous achievements will count for nothing when she and her teammates take to the field.
'A World Cup is a World Cup, every game is dictated by that final whistle,' said Dow.
'We have to go into every game putting a target on the back of everyone we're lining up against.
'It doesn't matter how good you are in the Six Nations or WXV. The games people remember are at the World Cup and we as a team need to learn how to handle that pressure.
'It's going to make for an exciting brand of rugby and I'm excited for it, the team is excited for it.
'That's the joy of competitive sport.'
Dow was speaking at the launch of a national RFU initiative inviting youngsters to get into rugby union and back the Red Roses by contributing to spectacular Red Rose yarn art city takeovers across the country, inspired by the Red Roses' love of crochet as a team bonding activity.
Fans wishing to get involved and contribute to displays across their local communities, clubs and cities can download crochet patterns via the England Rugby website. The patterns available are a red rose, bunting and a rugby ball square.
Supplied creations will then be stitched together by dedicated teams of volunteers including the Women's institute and Scouts ahead of a national unveiling of yarn art on Wednesday August 6.
Dow added: 'I'm really excited to be part of it. It's an opportunity to get diversity in hobbies and showing that anyone can support rugby and be part of the sport.
'It's a family event and an opportunity for people to pick up a hobby and combine it with sport to show off their personalities.
'Crochet has stereotypes but we deal with that in rugby as well in terms of who you have to be to be a rugby player. We're showing that it's not just a male space but a space where anyone can get involved.
'There are so many parts in life where that's true and crochet is a perfect example. Anyone can pick up a ball of yarn and a hook and start making whatever they want.
'It's the same in rugby, you can pick up a rugby ball and start playing and having fun the way you want.'

Spain's star player Aitana Bonmati is being treated in hospital for viral meningitis with less than a week to go before the start of Euro 2025. Bonmati, who has won the Ballon d'Or two years running, missed Spain's warm-up game with Japan on Friday night and manager Montse Tomé said there is no timeframe on her return. 'The doctors say that it is controlled, talking about meningitis can be scary but it is controlled,' Tomé said. 'Aitana will be admitted and there are no deadlines yet to know for how long [she will be absent for].' The Spanish Football Federation said Bonmati underwent testing after suffering from a fever, which failed to subside. She was then diagnosed with viral meningitis, which is an inflammation of the protective membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord. Viral meningitis is contagious but there has been no suggestion that any other of the Spanish players are also suffering from the illness. It is generally spread through contact with infected bodily fluids or respiratory droplets from someone who is infected, but the virus itself is not always likely to cause meningitis in those exposed. Common symptoms include fever, headache, stiff neck, sensitivity to light (photophobia), and sometimes nausea, vomiting and fatigue, and it is typically less severe than bacterial meningitis. Bonmati shared a photo of herself watching Spain's game from a hospital bed on social media and Tome indicated they will give the midfielder as long as possible to recover in time to play some part in the Euros. 'Aitana, for us, is a very important player, we will wait for her, yes, as long as we can,' Tomé said. 'The information I have told you is what I have and I am not going to explain more, if I said something more I would be wrong.' Analysis: Bonmati absence would be a huge blow This news will have sent shock-waves through the Spanish squad. Bonmati is arguably the most important player in their squad and if she is unable to return to fitness in time it will be a huge blow. There is a sense of deja vu in that Spain lost Alexia Putellas to an anterior cruciate ligament injury on the eve of the Euros. At the time, Putellas was the reigning Ballon d'Or winner and their best player. It is hard to replace Bonmati although Spain are at least lucky in that they have a wealth of talent. If Bonmati's absence is prolonged, it could allow Putellas to step back into the limelight. She had a fantastic season with Barcelona and now looks back to her best after initially struggling to regain her form following her ACL injury. During the 2023 World Cup there was a suggestion that Putellas and Bonmati were less effective when they played together and that Bonmati shone more when the former was not in the starting XI. By the end of the tournament, Putellas was starting on the bench and Bonmati was running the show as Spain were crowned champions. It is not just Spain who will be concerned about Bonmati. She is a player that people will have travelled to Switzerland to watch and tournament organisers will naturally want the biggest stars on show.

Liverpool close in on Marc Guehi transfer as sensational summer spree continues
The champions are in pole position to land the Crystal Palace and England defender, who has just one year left on his Selhurst Park deal and is keen on a move tnhis summer Liverpool's summer spending spree looks set to continue as they close in on a move for Marc Guehi. The Crystal Palace defender has been linked with several top clubs after it became clear he was not going to extend his contract at Selhurst Park, which has only a year left to run. But Liverpool are now in prime position and that talks between all parties will take place in the next 24 hours. It would be another stunning piece of business from Liverpool, who have followed their title triumph by forking out almost £200million on new, high-class recruits. The Premier League champions have signed Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen for a record £116million, Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth for £40million and Jeremie Frimpong from Leverkusen for £30million. It has been a serious statement of intent by Liverpool and their owners Fenway Sports Group and it would represent a coup to beat the likes of Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur to the signing of Guehi. There are still hurdles to get over. Crystal Palace value their England centre-half in the region of £70million but are realistic enough to know suitors will not go up that mark as Guehi only has 12 months of his contract to run. But they will still hold out for a fee in excess of £40million, particularly as Chelsea had a 20 percent sell-on clause when they sold Guehi to Palace for £18million in 2021. With plenty of options on the table for Guehi, Liverpool might also have to convince him that he will be a regular starter. Jarell Quansah is leaving for Bayer Leverkusen after struggling for game-time under Arne Slot, who has Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate as his first-choice pairing in central defence. Konate's contract also expires in a year's time and there is uncertainty about the prospects of him signing a new deal. Guehi, though, would be seen as a great long-term signing for Liverpool as he only turns 25 in a couple of weeks' time. He has 23 caps for England and is a certainty to make Thomas Tuchel's squad for next summer's World Cup. As well as the three headline signings, Liverpool have also signed goalkeepers Armin Pesci and Freddie Woodman, even though the deal made last summer for Valencia's Giorgi Mamardashvili will see the Georgian keeper join Slot's squad when they return for training on July 8. If Liverpool manage to seal a deal for Guehi, it is likely to be the end of their summer transfer business even though they continue to be linked with Newcastle United 's Alexander Isak. In the meantime, Palace are waiting to hear from UEFA if they can compete in the Europa League next season and are also preparing for offers for Eberechi Eze, who could be in the middle of a transfer battle between Arsenal and Spurs.
