WEATHER AWARE for Multiple Rounds of Storms Through Monday!
NEXT WEEK:Monday, look for multiple rounds of storms to impact the Chattahoochee Valley. The first round looks to come through early afternoon, then another round early evening. How much the first round stirs up the atmosphere could determine the strength of the second round. Highs on on Monday will be in the upper 80s. The rest of the week, a stalled out front will help isolated storms fire up each afternoon. Not everybody will see rain everyday, but you'll ne to keep the umbrellas close by just in case. Highs through the rest of the week will be in the upper 80s to low 90s. Overnight lows will be near 70.
NEXT WEEKEND:We'll continue to stay pretty active with isolated to scattered storms possible both days and highs near 90. Overnight lows will be near 70.

National Hurricane Center Tracking Dexter, 2 Areas To Watch
The National Hurricane Center is busy tracking Tropical Storm Dexter and two areas to watch in the Atlantic Ocean. Tropical Storm Dexter appears to be weakening and should dissipate over the Northern Atlantic by the end of the week. A tropical wave near Africa could develop into a tropical depression later this week. Closer to home, we are expecting an area of low pressure to form off the Southeast coast. There is a chance for development, and a tropical depression could form by the end of the week or into the weekend. Regardless, tropical downpours could lead to flooding with an increased chance of rip currents at the beaches this week.

Wildfire smoke maps show improving air quality forecast for eastern Massachusetts
The sky continues to have a very hazy look to it Tuesday morning in the Boston area as Canadian wildfire smoke affects the air quality in parts of Massachusetts. There are some differences today compared to yesterday. On Monday, there were very few clouds in the area so, any haziness was completely due to the wildfires. Today, we have an abundance of high, cirrus clouds streaming in from the west and southwest. Looking at visible satellite imagery, you can clearly see the brighter white (clouds) mixed with the dimmer, more gray smoke. The National Weather Service has issued an Air Quality Alert for areas north and west of Boston and Worcester for Tuesday. Eastern Massachusetts is no longer included in the alert. Why the change today from yesterday? The predominant airflow at upper levels of the atmosphere remains about the same ... the smoke from the fires in Saskatchewan and Alberta is still largely being directed into the New England. However, at the surface (ground) level, we have easterly winds, off the ocean. That will help to do two things: First, it will mix and dilute the smoky air with some marine air. Second, it will push a lot of the smoke westward, into western New England and New York State (hence why the NWS issued Air Quality Alerts out that way). Therefore, we do not expect these current air quality readings (moderate) to get any worse throughout the day today across eastern Mass. If anything, they may improve slightly. It's the same deal for Wednesday. While the smoke won't completely disperse, an onshore wind will help to keep the airmass in central and eastern Mass. fairly mixed and "clean." The highest concentrations of smoke will remain in western Massachusetts and New York State.

Heat continues to build across Dallas-Fort Worth with plenty of sunshine
Tuesday had a much quieter start with no storms, just a few high clouds and temperatures in the 70s. Yesterday morning, Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport experienced its strongest wind gust on record when a microburst produced an 89 mph wind gust. No significant rain chances are in the forecast for the next several days as high pressure strengthens and shifts back into the area. Today begins a warming trend with highs in the mid-90s, which are still below average for this time of year. Light winds, sunny skies and hot temperatures are all a recipe for another air quality alert today. It will be unhealthy outside for sensitive groups; those with asthma and upper respiratory issues should minimize their time outdoors. As temperatures climb back to near 100 degrees this week, so do "feels-like" temperatures. Heat advisories are likely Thursday into Friday as heat index values climb to 107 degrees.
