West Coast Suns? Gold Coast's surprising guernsey choice
Ahead of their 'Expansion Cup' clash against GWS on Sunday, the Suns will be ditching their traditional red and gold and instead adopting colours eerily similar to the Eagles.
A release from the club states that the yellow and gold strip is the latest piece to their 'Fearless' puzzle, drawing inspiration from their surroundings.

'The gold and blue combination portrays the versatility of the Gold Coast, paying homage to the sun-bleached sand that lines the region's beaches and the deep blue tones of the Pacific Ocean,' the statement read.
'The design reflects the club's fearless approach at every level.'
While the Suns have previously worn yellow and blue clash guernseys, they have retained the red sun logo, which has now been ditched.
The striking resemblance to Eagles colours has not been lost on fans with some joking if it's a sign of a future merger between the clubs.
'Excuse me those colours are taken,' one West Coast fan wrote while another labelled it the 'Gold Coast Eagles fit.'
'Are they unable to find a colour combo that isn't already used by another team,' another wrote.

It's not the first time this season the Suns have moved away from their traditional colours, having worn a striking all-pink strip for the Gather Round clash.

LIVE UPDATES: West Coast Eagles hunt second win as Greater Western Sydney come to Perth
West Coast has made steady progress across the last two months but it's time the young Eagles learnt how to win as Greater Western Sydney come to town. Malakai Champion becomes the eighth debutant as he takes the sub vest while the Eagles will shape up the same as against Collingwood across the ground. The Giants are without Coleman medallist Jesse Hogan and star midfielder Lachie Whitfield, meaning there are no All-Australians on the field tonight. Follow all the action in our live blog. The Giants claimed an 81-point victory in round four when Jesse Hogan peeled off an equal career-high nine goals. However, Hogan will miss tonight's clash alongside Lachie Whitfield who is injured. West Coast look the same across the field tonight with debutant Malakai Champion set to fly from the bench. The Eagles have been able to avoid big smashings lately but they still have just one win. It's a chilly Friday night in Perth but things are about to heat up at Optus Stadium when West Coast host Greater Western Sydney. The Eagles have named an eighth debutant this season with NGA product Malakai Champion to play as the sub after veteran wingman Jayden Hunt was dropped. Now the big question is will the Eagles be able to ride the Orange Tsumani to success or will they wipe out in another defeat? We'll soon find out with bouncedown at 6.20pm.

Suns urged to channel Rowell in big AFL milestone
Gold Coast coach Damien Hardwick has urged the Suns to play a Matt Rowell "type of game" in the star midfielder's 100th match. The Suns will meet Essendon for the first time since Mac Andrew's memorable matchwinning goal after the siren last August. It will be the first of two matches the teams will play in the final eight weeks of the season, ahead of the game rescheduled because of Cyclone Alfred. Both outings against the injury-hit Bombers are non-negotiables if Gold Coast want to finally end their long wait to play finals. Currently sitting eighth, albeit having played one less game than other finals contenders, the Suns have various reasons to win at Marvel Stadium this Saturday. Rowell, who recently turned his back on monster offers from several Victorian clubs to re-sign with the Suns for another two years, will celebrate a big milestone. "He's decided to stay and more importantly it's his 100th game this week," Hardwick said. "We've just got to make sure we play a Rowell type of game. "The way he plays the game is exactly what we need to bring this week." The Bombers' match will be followed by a three-week stretch that will define their season. Gold Coast will have six days to prepare to host Collingwood in a rare Friday night game at People First Stadium, before an away assignment against Adelaide and a home QClash against the Brisbane Lions. Essendon (6-8) will be boosted by the return of star pair Sam Durham and Jordan Ridley, while veteran ruck Todd Goldstein has also been recalled. But midfielder Darcy Parish's troubled season continued when he injured his calf during the Bombers' bye. The biggest injury blow came at training on Wednesday when talented but injury-prone defender Zach Reid suffered another hamstring injury. Set to return after missing five weeks, Reid will now consult a surgeon to determine if surgery is required.
