'This is sick': Jewish advocacy group slams Zohran Mamdani for sharing video mocking Hanukkah

Zohran Mamdani has been accused of mocking Hannukah.
Stop Antisemitism, the Jewish advocacy group, blasted Democratic New York City mayoral nominee
Zohran Mamdani
for sharing a video mocking Hanukkah. The video was shared last year but it went viral as Mamdani is dominating headlines after his surprise victory in the primary.
Some false claims were made over the video saying Mamdani, who was a rapper before his plunge into politics, was featured in the video.
But he was not in the video and shared it on Hanukkah.
Mamdani had posted the video in December 2024, adding the caption, "Happy 3rd night of Hanukkah from Astoria and Long Island City."
The video originates from the 2015 parody album "Punjabi Christmas Album Hits" from the Geeta Brothers, a side project of Sikh-Canadian musician and comedian Jus Reign.
Mamdani posted another video from the same album on Christmas Eve, this one based on "Jingle Bells."
"Wishing you all a very merry Christmas from Astoria and Long Island City," he wrote at the time.

"Zohran Mamdani posts Indian men cosplaying Jews, spinning dreidels and lighting the menorah," Stop Antisemitism wrote in a statement on X. "Our holidays and traditions are sacred and not for your comedic pleasure, Zohran Mamdani – this is sick," the group added, tagging the mayoral candidate.

Mamdani has been accused of antisemitism during his campaign as well as he refused several times to recognize Israel's right to exist as a Jewish state. During a primary debate, he said he believed Israel has a right to exist. "As a Jewish state?" he was asked. "As a state with equal rights," Mamdani said.
"I'm not comfortable supporting any state that has a hierarchy of citizenship on the basis of religion or anything else," he explained later.
StopAntisemitism founder Liora Rez said last week that electing Mamdani mayor would not only be "catastrophic" for Jewish residents, but all who reside in the city.
"If Zohran Mamdani was elected as mayor, it would be hands down catastrophic for Jewish residents of New York City," Rez said. "And we would even take it a step further where citizens of New York City in general, due to his very troubling stances on socialism, would greatly suffer as well."

Andhra Pradesh government seeks 3 months time to implement high court orders on promotions

1 2 3 Vijayawada: The state govt on Monday sought three months time to implement Andhra Pradesh high court's orders given in 2018, in a batch of petitions filed contending that they incurred losses due to improper application of reservations in promotions. Advocate general Dammalapati Srinivas submitted on behalf of the state govt that the court's orders would be implemented in three months. A batch of petitions was filed before the high court in 2016 and 2017, challenging the promotions given by the state govt to some employees without considering the petitioners eligibility for the same. The court, after hearing the petitions, found fault with the govt for implementing reservations in promotions without properly evaluating the eligibility criteria and directed to consider the case of petitioners in determining the eligibility for promotion besides reviewing all promotions that were already given. As the orders of the high court were not implemented since 2018, the Secretariat BC and OC Employees Association and some others filed contempt petitions. The counsels for the petitioners raised objections to the request of the advocate general seeking time. They said the state govt is making the issue more complicated by appointing committee after committee. They further submitted that the govt appointed the committee to look into the promotions of secretariat employees only and did not take any steps to review the promotions in 31 govt depts. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Is it legal? However, the petitioners also did not pursue the contempt petitions for the last six years. Observing that the creation of supernumerary posts is not a small thing, the bench said they cannot deny the request of the advocate general for time to implement the high court's orders. Granting time to the govt, the court posted the matter for further hearing to Sep 1.

Could Tom Brady's 'casual mingling' with Sofia Vergara turn into something serious?

Tom Brady and Sofia Vergara were spotted chatting at multiple A-list events, igniting fan speculation about potential chemistry. (Getty Images) Tom Brady might be retired from the NFL, but his off-field charm is still very much in play. The seven-time Super Bowl champion was recently spotted at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez's star-studded celebration in Venice, and while football fans marveled at his legacy, pop culture watchers had their eyes elsewhere—on his intriguing interactions, particularly with Sofia Vergara . Are Tom Brady and Sofia Vergara more than just casual acquaintances? The buzz kicked off when Brady, 47, was seen laughing and dancing with Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney , 27, into the early hours at the Gritti Palace. The chemistry was palpable. One amused onlooker couldn't resist commenting that the two 'would create a superhuman offspring,' a nod to Brady's athletic genes and Sweeney's Hollywood magnetism. But it wasn't Sweeney who sparked serious speculation—it was the charming moment Brady shared with Modern Family star Sofia Vergara later that weekend. Vergara, 52, exuded her usual vibrance and confidence while sitting and chatting with Brady. Their conversation, described by sources as 'lighthearted,' didn't go unnoticed by guests. While insiders insist their exchange was simply part of Brady's broader mingling—which also included conversations with Brooks Nader and Orlando Bloom—some fans are reading between the lines, noting that Vergara is closer to Brady in age and life stage, making the connection feel more grounded. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Concentrated Siberian Ginseng Extract 2oz Superior Ginseng Undo This wouldn't be the first time the spotlight has landed on Brady's love life post-divorce. Since his 2022 split from Gisele Bündchen, the NFL icon has remained largely private about his romantic pursuits—until now. His relaxed exchange with Vergara, paired with the actress's own sun-soaked social media activity, has only fanned the flames of curiosity. Vergara has been vacationing in Ibiza, where she celebrated International Bikini Day with a cheeky poolside video in a thong bikini bottom, proudly captioned, 'Happy internacional bikini day from Ibiza 😂😂.' That same weekend, she crossed paths with Brady again—this time at Casa Jondal during an intimate Fourth of July gathering packed with A-list guests like Kate Hudson and Dakota Johnson. Later, she was seen dancing at Ushuaïa Ibiza to a live set by Calvin Harris, whom she tagged in a post from the night. Romance rumors already surround Vergara, especially after she was seen dancing closely with Doug Chabbott in a video she captioned as checking off a 'bucket list' moment. Still, fans haven't dismissed the possibility of something budding between her and Brady. So, could Brady's so-called 'casual mingling' with Vergara evolve into something deeper? While neither party has confirmed anything, the age-appropriate bond, shared social circles, and timing hint at a connection that might just outlast the party lights. BJP MP's ‘enter Bihar-UP' dare to Thackerays triggers row

Guwahati/Mumbai: BJP 's Jharkhand MP Nishikant Dubey targeted Uddhav and Raj Thackeray on Monday over the Hindi row and attacks on non-Marathi speakers, saying if the Thackerays go to Bihar, UP or TN, they will be "thrashed repeatedly" ("tumko patak patak ke maarenge"). Dubey added, "You people (Maharashtra) are surviving on our money. What kind of industries do you have? If you are brave enough to beat up Hindi speakers, you should also beat up those who speak Urdu, Tamil, and Telugu." His remarks drew criticism from the Thackerays & state minister from BJP Ashish Shelar. tnn & agencies Criticising BJP MP Nishikant Dubey's comments on Thackerays, state minister Ashish Shelar said no one should question the work done by the Marathi population. I won't name him. The Mahayuti and BJP are very clear that the MP can say anything that fits in the law but must not question the deeds of Marathi people. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 2025 Top Trending local enterprise accounting software [Click Here] Esseps Learn More Undo The whole nation knows our contribution to GDP, we made the first film in the country and also the first navy in the country. Shelar said he wasn't naming the MP as he wasn't a member of the assembly and was not present in the House. "If you are such a big 'boss', come out of Maharashtra," Dubey dared the Thackerays. "We all respect Marathi and the people of Maharashtra, who fought for India's independence," Dubey told agencies, but accused Raj and Uddhav of playing politics ahead of BMC elections. "The BMC election is due, hence Raj and Uddhav are doing cheap politics. If they have courage, they should go to Mahim and beat any Hindi or Urdu-speaking people in front of Mahim dargah," he said. Earlier, in a post on X on Sunday, Dubey had written, "Those who beat Hindi-speaking people in Mumbai, if you have the guts, try beating Urdu-speaking people in Maharashtra. Even a dog becomes a lion in its own house, right? Decide for yourself who is the dog and who is the lion." Aaditya Thackeray said, "Dubey is not the face of north Indians. He represents the BJP. These remarks were made with a political intent to divide Marathi and Hindi-speaking people." He said people from different states come to Maharashtra to fulfil their dreams and are living amicably. "They do their business here happily. But some elements want Maharashtra to burn for their selfish political agendas," he alleged. He said the Shiv Sena (UBT) was not against the Hindi language but against the move to impose the language on Maharashtra. Dubey's remarks also drew sharp reactions from Borivli BJP MLA Sanjay Upadhyay and NCP (SP)'s Rohit Pawar. "Making statements against Marathi language or culture is condemnable," Upadhyay said. Pawar accused Dubey of "focusing on Bihar elections and trying to create a Hindu-Muslim division."
