Watch: singer plays beautiful rendition of You'll Never Walk Alone in moving tribute to Diogo Jota
The Portuguese winger, 28, was tragically killed in a car crash in Spain along with his brother and fellow footballer, André Silva.
With 'You'll Never Walk Alone' being Liverpool's official anthem as thousands sing it in Anfield week in and week out, Icelandic singer Laufey, who was playing a gig in Liverpool on Thursday night, paid a special tribute to the late star with a solemn version of the song. @laufey

Fans of Liverpool and the singer were touched by her tribute, with one person commenting 'Laufey, your class, elegance and respect is greatly appreciated by every single fan of Liverpool and everyone surrounding the families of Diogo Jota and Andre Silva. Thank you so much for this beautiful tribute.'
'Respect to Laufey for doing this, we need more singers and artists like this,' another commented, while another added 'this feels unreal.'
The song, which was originally released in 1945 as part of the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical Carousel, became most notable for its cover by Liverpool band Gerry and the Pacemakers, becoming synonymous with the club as fans sing it pre-match. The club also made You'll Never Walk Alone their motto, which has stood for the last six decades. Jota, who signed to Liverpool from Wolves in 2020, was tragically killed in the crash alongside his brother after the car they were travelling in suffered a tyre blowout while overtaking. The car then burst into flames, with the pair dying instantly in the accident.
Tributes have flooded in for Jota and his brother following Thursday's tragedy, which came just weeks after Jota married his sweetheart Rute Cardoso.
Jose Manuel Macedo, parish priest at the Igreja Matriz de Gondomar in Sao Cosme, told the PA news agency in a translated message that the funeral for the brothers will take place at the Igreja Matriz on Saturday at 10am. Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva were tragically killed in the Zamora region of Spain in a car crash. Pic:According to BBC Sport, Jota was returning for pre-season training next week via ferry after being advised not to fly following minor surgery.
Liverpool's 'heartbroken' players have spoken of their pain in paying tribute to their team-mate.
Reds captain Virgil van Dijk said on Instagram he was 'absolutely devastated and in total disbelief.'
The Dutch defender wrote in a post alongside a picture of Jota with the Premier League trophy 'What a human being, what a player, but most importantly what an unbelievable family man.' Pic: Peter Byrne/PA
'You meant so much to all of us and you always will! For your family to lose two sons, a husband and a father is just unimaginable. So cruel and unfair. 'My heart is breaking for all of your beautiful family, for Rute and for your kids. I promise you that in these difficult times and beyond we will always be there for your family. 'A champion forever, number 20 forever. It's been a privilege to have stood by your side on the pitch, and to have been your friend off it. We will miss you beyond words and never forget you. Your legacy will live on, we will make sure of it! Rest in perfect peace Diogo & Andre.'

Kevin Spacey told actor ‘don't worry about it' after alleged sexual assault, documents claim
Ruari Cannon is suing Mr Spacey as well as two organisations connected to the Old Vic Theatre in London, claiming he suffered psychiatric damage as a result of sexual and emotional abuse. The 33-year-old has waived his anonymity in the claim. In court documents seen by the PA news agency, Mr Cannon alleges that Mr Spacey, who was a "powerful figure and a world-famous actor and celebrity" at the time, assaulted him in about June 2013, when he was "a very vulnerable young man". Oscar-winning actor Mr Spacey has previously denied allegations of inappropriate behaviour and wrongdoing, and details of his defence are not yet available. According to the documents, filed in June, Mr Spacey was working as artistic director at the Old Vic Theatre at the time of the alleged assaults on a production of a play by Tennessee Williams known as Sweet Bird Of Youth, and Mr Cannon was a member of the cast in this production. They claim that Mr Spacey "took a particular interest" in Mr Cannon for "reasons of sexual interest" and sent him a "lavish" gift of a framed poster of the 1985 production of the play directed by Harold Pinter. After the press preview of the show on June 12 2013, Mr Cannon attended a party at The Savoy in London organised by The Old Vic Theatre Company (The Cut) and The Old Vic Theatre Trust 2000. It is claimed that one of the alleged assaults took place at the event. Setting out the allegations, Elizabeth-Anne Gumbel KC, for Mr Cannon, said: "Kevin Spacey pulled the claimant towards him, turned him around through 45 degrees and placed his left hand on the claimant's buttocks and lifted up the recess material of his suit." It is alleged that Mr Spacey then pushed Mr Cannon's underwear "as far up" into his bottom as possible, "so as to cause pain and distress". ADVERTISEMENT Ms Gumbel added: "Mr Kevin Spacey pulled the claimant closer to him and whispered into the claimant's ear 'Don't worry about it'. "Mr Spacey made more uncalled for and unwelcome advances to the claimant during the evening." The following day, Mr Cannon reported the alleged assaults to his stage manager at the Old Vic Theatre, but no action was taken. According to the documents, it is accepted that Mr Cannon did not ask for any action to be taken, and was scared about how any further action might affect his career. Later that year, during the run of the show, Mr Cannon saw Mr Spacey at the Old Vic bar. Mr Spacey allegedly said to him, "I hear you have a dirty secret", and then said: "Open up." Ms Gumbel said: "Kevin Spacey then forced open the claimant's mouth with his fingers and thumbs and commented 'quite a bad boy' before the claimant could pull away. "The claimant then left the bar. The forcing open of the claimant's mouth was another assault for which Kevin Spacey was responsible and for which the second and/or third defendants were vicariously liable. "Further in 2017 when the Old Vic set up a confidential complaints email on October 31 2017 the claimant reported the above complaint again to the Old Vic." She added that the alleged assaults were carried out by Mr Spacey in the course of his work for the organisations connected to the Old Vic, and they are "vicariously liable" for the alleged assaults carried out in the context of a theatre production.

Georgia Toffolo slammed over her ‘controversial' wedding tips for 2025 brides – from £2 flowers to DIY cake
GEORGIA Toffolo has been slammed for insulting local businesses after sharing her "controversial" wedding tips for 2025 brides. The former Made In Chelsea star, 30, tired the knot with Brewdog founder James Watt, 42, in March and won praise from fans for the low-key celebrations - despite their huge wealth. Advertisement 3 Georgia Toffolo and James Watt tied the knot at a ceremony in Aberdeenshire Credit: Instagram/Georgia Toffolo 3 The couple had a very low-key ceremony Credit: PA 3 Toff shared some of her 'controversial' wedding tips on social media Credit: Instagram While Toff is thought to be a millionaire many times over herself thanks to reality TV and presenting work, James is said to have a net worth of more than £250million. But the TV beauty has now been accused of "ruffling feathers" after urging brides to ditch florists and cake makers in favour of £2 supermarket flowers and DIY sweet treats. In an Instagram post accompanying a video of her intimate wedding ceremony, Toff said: "Controversial? Maybe. Honest? 100%. Pieces of REAL advice I'd give to a 2025 bride." She insisted that wedding cakes are a "complete waste of money" while flowers are "overpriced and overrated". Advertisement Read more in Fabulous Revealing her money-saving alternatives, she added: "We had the children bake ours [cake] that morning. No fancy tiers, no overpriced price tag. Just made with pure love. Best decision ever. "I [also] grabbed daffodils straight out of the vase on our kitchen table, and you know what? They were perfect. £2 from the supermarket and not a single florist in sight." Her Instagram video, shared with her 1.8million followers, quickly racked up 1.5million views. But some people were left fuming that her tips seemingly urged people to snub "hard-working and talented" local vendors. Advertisement Most read in Celebrity Latest Breaking One said: "Whilst the sentiment of your post is spot on; 'your day, your way', I do think you have slightly missed the mark here. "Especially describing floristry and wedding cakes as overpriced and not necessary. Both professions are very female founder heavy & I think it's a real shame to use your platform to describe the incredibly hard work and talent-driven work of those women as overpriced and unnecessary. BrewDog's James Watt & fiance Toff branded 'unbearable' after latest confession "Your DIY wedding is beautiful because that's what you wanted, but let's not diminish the incredible talent, skill and hard work of the women within the wedding industry." A second blasted: "So instead of spending a few quid of our vast wealth to support local, female-led businesses, I am instead going to tell my almost 2 million followers that what they do is pointless and they're charging too much for their art and skill. Advertisement "Considering what you charge for an hours appearance, tell me, who is pointless and overpriced here…?" A third chimed in: "As an influencer and privileged person, she has tripped up on this one… this has ruffled more than industry leaders' feathers." A fourth echoed: "I feel like you can say this as you have the privilege of experiencing luxury at any given time, for the absolute majority of people their wedding day is the one day in a lifetime when they may choose to spend a little extra to experience the finer things in life." And a fifth agreed: "You have the benefit of choice and grew up extremely privileged, for most couples their wedding day is the only time they can afford and save for that level of luxury." Advertisement The I'm a Celebrity winner went on to claim that couples shouldn't spend the morning apart on their wedding day, and the guest list should be small as it's "not a networking event". She also hit out at child-free weddings and insisted that children "add magic, not mess" and said there's "no need for a three-course meal". Toff rounded off her wedding guide by concluding: "You don't have to change your surname Tradition is optional, your identity isn't." Advertisement And many social media users, despite the backlash, praised her for low-key wedding decisions. One said: "I've said it once and will say it again. Please please never change. You are a breath of fresh air and so on point with outlook on life." "Love this Georgia Toffolo, well said. Weddings are about individuality and not about 'rules'", added someone else. A third wrote: "Totally agree!! You both look so happy and content that's what it's all about!" Advertisement "I absolutely could not love this more", cried a fourth. Meanwhile, a fifth added: "Good for you Georgia! Agree with everything you said. Yours sounded just perfect." Guests received just 48 hours' notice of the surprise nuptials where Toff and James' spaniel, Monty, acted as ring bearer. The couple, who started dating in 2023, 'eloped' after a ceremony which took place in a small church in the coastal village where fewer than 600 people live.
