NBA: Cavaliers Trade Isaac Okoro To Bulls for Lonzo Ball in Blockbuster Deal

The Cleveland Cavaliers will acquire guard Lonzo Ball from the Chicago Bulls in exchange for forward Isaac.
The Cleveland Cavaliers have reached an agreement to acquire guard Lonzo Ball from the Chicago Bulls in exchange for forward Isaac Okoro, according to a person familiar with the deal.
The individual spoke on the condition of anonymity Saturday, as the trade cannot be officially completed until the start of the new league year on July 6.
Ball Returns After Lengthy Injury Layoff
Ball, 27, appeared in 35 games last season, averaging 7.6 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game. He returned to action after missing two full seasons (2022–23 and 2023–24) due to a serious left knee injury.
Originally hurt during his first season with the Bulls in 2021–22, Ball underwent multiple procedures, including a meniscus repair and a rare cartilage transplant surgery in March 2023. Though he made a comeback last season, he missed the final two months with a sprained right wrist.
A former No. 2 overall draft pick by the Los Angeles Lakers in 2017, Ball has one year remaining on his current contract, along with a team option for the 2026–27 season.
The trade comes as Cleveland faces uncertainty at the point guard position. Ty Jerome is set to become an unrestricted free agent, while All-Star Darius Garland is expected to miss the start of the 2025–26 season following surgery on his left big toe earlier this month.
Ball's addition offers Cleveland a potential starter or key rotation piece as the team looks to maintain its competitive edge. The Cavaliers finished with the NBA's second-best record at 64–18 but fell short in the Eastern Conference semifinals, losing in five games to the Indiana Pacers.
Heading to Chicago in the deal is Isaac Okoro, a versatile wing known for his perimeter defense and improved outside shooting. The 23-year-old averaged 6.1 points and 2.4 rebounds during the regular season but saw his role diminish as the year progressed. He played 14.2 minutes per game in the playoffs, down from 19.1 in the regular season.
Okoro, a former top-five pick, has two years remaining on his current contract. The Bulls will look to integrate him into their rotation as they continue to retool their roster.

Crew turn the tables by blanking Union

Mohamed Farsi scored in the second minute of first-half stoppage time Sunday night, and the Columbus Crew shut down the visiting Philadelphia Union for a 1-0 win. HT Image Columbus pulled within three points of Philadelphia in the Eastern Conference standings behind a defense that outdid its normally stingy opponents. The Union entered the night ranked second in MLS in fewest goals allowed but it was the Crew, ranked 14th, that delivered the clean sheet and allowed no shots on target. Farsi took care of the offense after a beautiful build-up in the middle of the pitch. A long ball down the left side by Amar Sejdic sprung Lassi Lappalainen into the clear. Farsi ran unfettered down the middle and clinically finished a flawless cross from Lappalainen past goalie Andre Blake. A weather delay of nearly an hour held up the start of the second half but did little to change the game's momentum. Philadelphia managed just seven shots for the night, barely exceeding the number of yellow cards it garnered . The Union's best chances occurred in stoppage time in the second half. But Cavan Sullivan's right-footed attempt from the right side in the second minute of stoppage drifted wide right and Jesus Bueno's header in the fifth also leaked right. Columbus finished the night with eight shots and Blake came up with a pair of saves. The Crew notched their fourth clean sheet of the season and their first since March 22, when they settled for a scoreless draw with New York City FC. The teams combined for 33 fouls and eight yellows in a physical fixture. Columbus finished with 59.8 percent of the possession after holding the ball for more than 62 percent in the first half, when Philadelphia managed a meager two shots. Dylan Chambost matched Farsi's two shots for the Crew, while Alejandro Bedoya was the only player for the Union to squeeze off two shots. Three of Philadelphia's seven shots were blocked. Dream score key, one-sided win against Liberty

Atlanta dominated the paint and didn't let a big lead slip away this time in a 90-81 win over visiting New York Sunday afternoon. HT Image The Dream outscored New York 62-36 in the paint, shot 52.9 percent from the floor and never trailed after the first quarter. Five different Dream players hit double figures, with Brionna Jones scoring 21 and Allisha Gray scoring 20. Breanna Stewart led the Liberty with 21. After starting 9-0, the Liberty have lost five of their last seven games to fall to 11-5 and are dealing with the absence of starters Jonquel Jones and Leonie Fiebich . Fiebich should return to action soon. Atlanta is now 1/2 game behind New York in the Eastern Conference. In the two teams' last meeting two weeks ago, Atlanta lost a 17-point second- half lead as the Liberty won 86-81. The two teams traded baskets in the first five minutes on this one before the Dream went on a 10-2 run capped by a drive and a score by Jones to make it 16-9. The Dream scored the last seven points of the first quarter to carry a 29-19 lead to the break. New York scored just two points in the first 6:15 of the second quarter and the Dream took command with Shatori Walker-Kimbrough gathering a steal and scoring, Jordin Canada driving to the basket for two more and Naz Hilmon converting on a lay-up with 5:34 left. Jones hit a fadeaway 30 seconds later, and Atlanta led by 20 points , delighting the home crowd. Atlanta shot 53.8 percent in the first half and had 40 first-half points in the paint, either on offensive rebounds or slashes to the basket by Howard or Gray. The Liberty got a bit of momentum just before halftime when Dream center Brittany Griner was called for a technical foul with seven seconds left, complaining to the refs after contact under the basket. New York made the free throw and Isabelle Harrison added a back-door lay-up with one second left to make it 47-34 at halftime. Atlanta led by 10 entering the fourth quarter - its smallest lead since the start of the second quarter - but the Dream got off to a great start with Canada knocking down a three to start the quarter and then adding an old- school three-point play. Atlanta led 80-62 midway through the fourth. New York has allowed 80 or more points in six of its last seven games. Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], June 29 (ANI): It was a belligerent, brilliant, and breathtaking performance from the Chennai Bulls, who were crowned the first-ever champions of the Rugby Premier League, here in Mumbai, at the Shahaji Raje Bhosale Sports Complex. The Chennai Bulls thrashed the Delhi Redz by a scoreline of 41-0 in the final to clinch the title. In fact, the margin of victory is the biggest across Season 1 of the RPL. Meanwhile, the Hyderabad Heroes, who had finished top of the table in the league stage, came away with a third-place finish after they won 17-12 against the Bengaluru Bravehearts. The Chennai Bulls picked up from where they had left off in the semi-finals, and hit the Delhi Redz hard in the opening exchanges. Vaafauese Maliko got the opening try of the final, and Filipe Sauturaga was on hand to convert. Moments later, the Redz felt the full force of the Bulls' attack as Joseva Talacolo rounded off a superb move with five more points to the cause. Before the end of the first half, the Bulls had further extended their lead - Terry Kennedy outpaced the Redz for two more tries, and Gaurav Kumar added two more from the kick. At half-time, the Bulls were in complete control and led 24-0. After the break, the domination continued, and the Redz were finding it hard to break down the Bulls. Meanwhile, the Bulls were doing their bit to pile on the pressure, as Shanawaz Ahmed went over the line after Kennedy set him up. And Filipe Sauturaga added two more points to the tally. With 4 minutes to go, the very dominant Bulls had a 31-0 lead in their favour. The Bulls did not let up and went on to add a couple of more tries by Mohammed Ashique to put the seal on what was a comprehensive win. Earlier in the day, the Hyderabad Heroes clinched third place in the inaugural season of the GMR Rugby Premier League, as they saw off a spirited challenge from the Bengaluru Bravehearts. The Heroes, who were trailing in the early stages, fought back with full force. The Heroes defeated the Bravehearts 17-12. For the Bravehearts, Tone Shiu and Philip Wokorach scored tries, while Akuila Rokolisoa converted one kick, all in the first half.
