Terrifying final moments of American Idol exec and husband murdered at $5m LA mansion

Daily Mail3 days ago
The American Idol executive and her husband, found murdered inside their $5 million California mansion, struggled with the intruder just moments before they were fatally shot in the head, police revealed.
Robin Kaye, an award-winning music supervisor for the hit show, and Thomas Deluca, both 70, were discovered brutally murdered at their home in Encino on Monday around 2.33pm, the Los Angeles Police Department told Daily Mail.
Police arrested 22-year-old Raymond Boodarian on Tuesday, confirming he had been inside the couple's home for approximately 30 minutes before they unexpectedly returned.
In a chilling new revelation, police provided additional details about the couple's final moments - spotting the intruder, engaging in a struggle and ultimately being shot dead, ABC7 News reported.
'There was a confrontation that ensued which resulted in the victims receiving multiple gunshot wounds and succumbing to those injuries,' LAPD Lt. Guy Golan said, according to the outlet.
Officers were first called to the couple's gated Los Angeles mansion on July 10 - an idyllic, high-security home surrounded by an 8-foot spiked wall and surveillance cameras, according to ABC7.
They first arrived to the couple's residence after two calls reported a man jumping the fence, but left when no one answered and nothing appeared suspicious.
Just four days later, however, police returned to the their ritzy $5 million mansion for a routine 'welfare check' after family and friends had not heard from them in four days.
Authorities spotted blood at the front entrance before breaking through a window, where they found the couple both shot in the head in different rooms.
The suspect, identified as Boodarian, was linked to the crime through a fingerprint found at the scene and corroborating surveillance footage. His fingerprints were in the LAPD's database thanks to his previous encounters with the law.
He was found to have a violent criminal history, including brandishing a knife and making criminal threats against his stepfather in 2023, as well as battery charges involving his mother and sister in 2024, ABC7 reported.
All three misdemeanor cases were dismissed late last year, with court documents revealing that the 22-year-old suspect had been declared mentally incompetent three months earlier.
Police also found a handgun in the suspect's home, which they believe may have been used in the killings, according to ABC7.
'We believe its the murder weapon, but pending forensic analysis we're not ready to say so yet,' Lt. Golan said, according to the outlet.
Boodarian allegedly shot the couple dead during a burglary gone wrong, with investigators now keen to see if he'd been alerted to the couple's wealth during a previous trip to the property.
Police said he entered the home through an unlocked door after scaling a fence, according to cited surveillance footage - meaning their bodies may have lain inside the home for hours after investigators failed to access the property.
One neighbor, who did not want to be named, would occasionally see Boodarian roaming the complex 'looking really, really disturbed.'
The neighbor also said she could often see when Boodarian's lights were on in his bedroom because of a shared wall. She eerily described how he would sometimes have an 'episode' and appear 'ready to break the walls.'
She claimed that on at least one occasion, he had to be strapped to a stretcher and removed from the property.
Many questions now surround how Boodarian's case was dismissed, with criminal defense attorney Lou Shapiro explaining that a significant factor may lie within California's legal system, according to ABC7.
'There's a separate court, just for people with mental health issues, if they are eligible for that court, they usually get put on a different track,' Shapiro said. 'And for the most part, most people that go on that track do well.'
'But every so often we have a situation like this, where it didn't go the way it should have gone,' he added.
'And very tragically, we have two people who are dead because of it.'
Kaye worked as the music supervisor for singing competition American Idol for the last 15 seasons, or nearly 300 episodes, per her IMDB page.
The suspect was found to have a violent criminal history, including brandishing a knife and making criminal threats against his stepfather in 2023, as well as battery charges involving his mother and sister in 2024 (pictured: aerial of home)
Over the years, she won several Guild of Music Supervisors Awards for her work on the show.
She also worked for other well-known shows, including Lip Sync Battle, Hollywood Game Night and Worn Stories.
Her husband was a musician who last released an album called Street Rock in 2022. His first 'acclaimed cult favorite debut' album. 'Down To The Wire,' was released by Epic Records in 1986.
Deluca penned songs for popular hit makers, including Kid Rock, the band Molly Hatchet and Meredith Brooks.
The couple purchased the home in January 2023, according to public records. The home was also used a rental property before being sold to the couple, neighbors said.
Charges against Boodarian are expected to be filed on Thursday.

Epstein's former lawyer wants Ghislaine Maxwell released so that she can testify

A former attorney for convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein says his associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, should be granted immunity so she can testify about his crimes. In an interview on Fox News Sunday, Epstein's former lawyer Alan Dershowitz said Maxwell 'absolutely' should testify as she was most closely involved with Epstein. 'She knows everything. I mean, she is everything,' Dershowitz said. 'She was the one who arranged all the trips and travel of all the people who went to the island, who went to the house and went to the place in New Mexico, who went to his place in Paris,' Dershowitz said of Maxwell. 'So she's key to everything, and there's no reason why they shouldn't give her use immunity, which means she can still be prosecuted if she commits perjury, but she would then have to testify about everything, and she should.' On Friday, the Justice Department filed a motion in a Manhattan federal court to unseal transcripts from the grand jury that investigated Epstein before he died in jail in 2019 while awaiting trial. Dershowitz also warned that the grand jury transcripts that Attorney General Pam Bondi asked a federal judge to unseal on Friday would not yield the list of Epstein's clientele that many of President Donald Trump's supporters are eagerly anticipating. 'I think the judge should release it, but they are not in the grand jury transcripts,' Dershowitz said. "I've seen some of these materials. For example, there is an FBI report of interviews with alleged victims in which at least one of the victims names very important people," he said, adding that those names have been redacted. Trump has come under growing pressure from his MAGA base to release information related to the government's inquiry into Epstein – something he said he would do during the 2024 presidential campaign. Earlier this month, the Trump administration did a complete 180 on the Epstein files, releasing a joint memo with the FBI claiming there was 'no incriminating client list' or any evidence of blackmail. The memo also reiterated the FBI's previous investigation that concluded Epstein died by suicide, and was not murdered in his jail cell as some conspiracy theorists have speculated. Maxwell, a former British socialite and ex-girlfriend of Epstein, was found guilty in December 2021 of conspiracy to entice minors to travel to engage in illegal sex acts, among other charges, related to her role in a scheme to abuse minor girls with the wealthy financier for a decade. The now-63-year-old was sentenced to 20 years in prison, though her lawyers have been trying to get her out by appealing her case, arguing she was exempt from prosecution under a clause in Epstein's 2008 non-prosecution agreement. The release of the grand jury documents may fall short of what many of Trump's supporters are seeking. The transcripts are a fraction of the Epstein documents, as bank, phone, and surveillance records remain under seal along with his autopsy results. Because Epstein's circle included royals, presidents, and billionaires, the case gained massive attention and fueled some of the biggest conspiracy theories driving Trump's supporters, even as Trump himself was a close friend of Epstein. After the memo from Trump's administration and the FBI, the Wall Street Journal published an alleged birthday card from Trump to Epstein that was described as including a sexually suggestive drawing and a birthday wish that says, 'may every day be another wonderful secret.' In response, Trump filed a $10 billion defamation lawsuit against right-wing media mogul Rupert Murdoch and The Wall Street Journal 's parent companies, News Corp and Dow Jones. Trump claims the newspaper 'failed to attach the letter, failed to attach the alleged drawing, failed to show proof that President Trump authored or signed any such letter, and failed to explain how this purported letter was obtained,' according to the lawsuit. 'The reason for those failures is because no authentic letter or drawing exists,' the complaint claims. "We have full confidence in the rigor and accuracy of our reporting, and will vigorously defend against any lawsuit,' a spokesperson for Dow Jones said in a statement.

D-Day veteran war hero and TikTok star who survived German gunfire on Normandy beaches dies aged 102

A D-DAY veteran war hero who became a TikTok sensation late in life has died aged 102. Papa Jake Larson survived German gunfire on Normandy beaches in 1944 and then gained over 1.2 million followers by sharing stories to commemorate World War II and his fallen comrades. 4 4 The war hero's grieving granddaughter McKaela announced his death on social media, sharing how he passed "peacefully" on Thursday. She wrote: "An animated speaker who charmed strangers young and old with his quick smile and generous hugs, the self-described country boy from Minnesota was cracking jokes til the end." McKaela added: "As Papa would say, love you all the mostest." Tributes have poured into his Story Time with Papa Jake TikTok account. Meanwhile towns around Normandy, still grateful to Allied forces who helped defeat the occupying Nazis in World War II, paid him homage too. Born in 1922, in Owatonna, Minnesota, Larson enlisted in the National Guard in 1938. The war hero had lied about his age as he was just 15 years old at the time. In 1942, he was sent overseas and was stationed in Northern Ireland before becoming operations sergeant and assembling the planning books for the invasion of Normandy. He was among the nearly 160,000 brave allied troops who stormed the Normandy shore on D-Day, June 6, 1944, surviving machine-gun fire when he landed on Omaha Beach. Larson said at the 81st anniversary of D-Day in June: "We are the lucky ones. We are their family. We have the responsibility to honor these guys who gave us a chance to be alive." Nazi Hunters Thomas Will Ludwigsburg Germany Robin Perrie It represents one of the defining moments of the war and of evil Hitler's defeat. Larson's incredible service earned him a Bronze Star and a French Legion of Honor award. In recent years, Larson made repeated trips to Normandy for D-Day commemorations and at every stop. And since gaining social media popularity too, Papa Jake was greeted by people asking for a selfie - but offered big hugs instead. One memorable encounter came in 2023, when he came across Bill Gladden, a then-99-year-old British veteran who survived a glider landing on D-Day and a bullet that tore through his ankle. He told Gladden as they held hands: "I want to give you a hug, thank you. I got tears in my eyes. We were meant to meet." Gladden passed away the following year. In his TikTok posts that have accumulated hundreds of thousands of views and likes, Larson combined humorous anecdotes with somber reminders about the horrors of war. Speaking of his social media fame in 2023, he said: "I'm just a country boy. Now I'm a star on TikTok. I'm a legend! I didn't plan this, it came about." Larson has previously refused to call himself a "hero" and asked world leaders to "make peace not war". 4
