Juneteenth Jam to celebrate Juneteenth with storytelling, dance
Muses Creative Artistry Project presents Broadway-style performance with classic Disney songs
The Juneteenth Family Jam is an interactive family dance experience that honors the power of movement to tell stories, share history, and bring people together.
TRAHC Education Director Megan Griffin said, 'Movement is a proven stress reliever, which is something we can all benefit from as a society. Dancing and movement offer positive benefits like forming new neural connections in the brain and increasing levels of the feel-good hormone called serotonin.'
The event will open with a discussion on the significance of Juneteenth by The Scholars, a local nonprofit founded in 2014. The Scholars goal is to support students in gaining skills and knowledge.
Vice President and Cofounder of The Scholars, Rhonda Dolberry, said, 'The tagline for TheScholars is 'Spreading Knowledge,' which falls directly in line with sharing the historicalaspects of Juneteenth with the community, and shining a positive light on the AfricanAmerican culture as well. Knowing that knowledge is power, working together, andsharing makes us even stronger.'

Rooted Movement Collective seeks to combine members' love of dance with education, believing that integrating their art can ease efforts to teach cultural understanding.
Rooted Movement Artistic Director Cece Marie explains, 'You don't have to speak the same language or even be the same age–movement breaks all of that down. For families, it's a chance to reconnect outside of the stress of everyday life.'
The Juneteenth Family Jam is on June 19, 2025, at 6 p.m. at TRAHC's ArtSpace. The event is free, but TRAHC asks that participants RSVP to allow them to accommodate for space.

‘Freakier Friday' Barely Scrapes By on Its Nostalgic Charms
Freaky Friday is back after over two decades since we last saw Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan swap bodies thanks to a suitably freaky family curse. However, Disney's new follow-up, in theaters this week, leaning heavily on the charms of a stellar ensemble, is a sequel constantly threatening to fall apart under the weight of uneven execution. In Freaky Friday, it was just mother Tess Coleman (Curtis) and her daughter Anna (Lohan) who swapped bodies, a kooky way for mother and child to better understand each other and come to terms with their respective journeys in life. In Freakier, directed by Nisha Ganatra, Ana is now all grown up herself with a teen daughter (Harper, played by Julia Butters) and ready to marry the father of said daughter's high school nemesis (Eric and Lily, played by Manny Jacinto and Sophia Hammons, respectively). While Tess attempts to help glue the new family dynamic together, there are plenty of interesting cracks forming among all the different relationships among them as they prepare to adapt to this new normal. Which is where, of course, the Coleman family curse triggers, hitting Anna, Tess, Harper, and Lily. With more body swaps this time around, things get convoluted quickly. Lohan is now playing Harper in Anna's Body, while Curtis plays step-sister Lily, and the duo seamlessly falls back in step with one another as they did 22 years ago. They really shine through some of the film's silliest hijinks, even if the setup to those slapstick moments feels nonsensical, even for a comedy. When Lohan and Curtis get to play, however, they give some much-needed depth and heart to the core of the film. Lohan likewise gets to lean into her romantic comedy sensibilities opposite Jacinto, and they make for a sizzling pairing, both in the comedic moments and in the more touching family relationship drama—it's just a shame that there isn't enough of them together in the film to mine that chemistry for all its worth. It takes Freakier far too long to really let us get to know the newcomers in Eric and Lily, their arrival undercut by needlessly overcomplicating Anna's backstory, covering the time between the two films with former high school drama. And that's kind of Freakier's big problem: it feels overstuffed in a lot of ways. Many gags go on for just a bit too long, even before the film digs into body-switching shenanigans, and a lot of the comedy, especially between the two teens, feels more like adults trying to write Gen Z kids rather than feeling particularly contemporary. Butters and Hammons are definitely underserved, having to play Tess and Anna in their teen bodies compared to the other half of the body-swapping drama—Freakier just wastes them until the final act, but it comes too suddenly and too late in the game to have any impact. That overstuffing definitely hits hardest in Anna's arc in the film, having to balance solo-parenting her daughter with her career managing an upcoming music artist, Ella (the scene-stealing Maitreyi Ramakrishnan). There's just too much going on that the film never does justice to, especially when it comes to why Anna left behind her own musical career with Pinkslip. For a comedy that also happens to run nearly two hours long, Freakier feels like it has too many characters in the mix, leaving so many of them (and the film's gags) getting short-changed trying to balance it all. What is most frustrating is that Freakier's smart updates to the body-swapping 'lore,' combined with the ensemble cast's chemistry selling it all in the first place, really work, only for the film itself to buckle under stereotypical constraints of the comedy genre. It's a movie that feels like someone kept interfering to add more jokes, throwing off the vibe of the film (alongside some questionable soundtrack choices, including not one, but two Chappell Roan needle drops that really just make it feel like someone realized she was having her moment last year, and was needed to make the film feel contemporary). The sheer force of Lohan and Curtis' dynamic getting to return to these characters brings some appeal to Freakier Friday (as do Manny Jacinto's charms and arms), but it's only barely enough to make up for the film's messy, overstuffed feeling, making this long-awaited return more of a Forgettable Friday than a particularly Freaky one. Dollywood tops Disney parks in Tripadvisor's best amusement park rankings survey
A new survey revealed which amusement parks in America are the best — andthe top spot may (or may not) surprise you. Tripadvisor released its "Best of the Best Things to Do" report after conducting research across all high-volume reviews and eight million opinions from the Tripadvisor community in the past 12 months. "Get ready to scream, splash, soar through the sky, and escape into your favorite worlds at these winning parks," reads the announcement ranking the amusement and water parks. Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, ranked first on the list, at 4.3 out of 5. The park is co-owned by the iconic Dolly Parton, who grew up around the Smoky Mountains in the Big Bender state. Dollywood has 50 rides spanning over 160 acres, according to its website. "The park has a downhome feel with singalongs and a museum dedicated to Parton's life, plus high-velocity roller coasters and thrill rides," reads Tripadvisor's report. Dollywood also has an art scene with performances, glassblowing showcases and artisans making pottery. One reviewer left five stars, writing, "We had a great time at this theme park." "It was very hot. However, the park offers shaded areas and free ice water!" the person continued. "There were also fans placed around the park. They care about their guests." Dollywood beat out Disney and Universal parks. Coming out in second place was Magic Kingdom Park. Located in Bay Lake, Florida, the park is dubbed "The Most Magical Place on Earth." Magic Kingdom is home to some of the most popular Disney attractions, such as Space Mountain, Jungle Cruise and Cinderella's castle. "There's also a nightly fireworks show, musical parades, and meet and greets with your favorite Disney characters," Tripadvisor notes. In third place is Knoebels Amusement Resort, located in Elysburg, Pennsylvania. The park has been family-owned and operated since 1926. Tripadvisor notes it is America's largest free-admission amuseument park. It has "roller coasters, kid-friendly rides (bumper cars, a haunted mansion), swimming, camping, a mining museum, and even a championship 18-hole golf course." Disney's Hollywood Studios in Bay Lake, Florida, took fourth place. The park has some of Disney's most thrilling rides, such as the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and the Aerosmith-themed Rock 'n' Roller Coaster. Rounding out the top five was the Universal Islands of Adventure in Orlando, Florida. "Universal Islands of Adventure — one of two parks at Universal Orlando — is home to superheroes and magical creatures," notes Tripadvisor. "One of the highlights is The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, where you can ride Hagrid's Motorbike," the report adds. "Don't miss the Velocicoaster, a high-speed coaster."
