Blow to AAP: Court halts vigilance bureau raids on Majithia properties; prior notice required for any such move
Bikram Singh Majithia
.
The court directed that any future visits to Majithia's premises must be strictly for evaluation purposes and a 24-hour prior notice should be given to his counsel. The development was confirmed by advocate Arshdeep Singh Kler, legal counsel for Majithia, through a video statement released after the court orders.
Kler revealed that although the court had permitted the investigation officer (IO) to visit the sites, the officer instead deployed multiple vigilance teams to Delhi, Amritsar, and Majitha.
These visits were allegedly publicised to fuel a media trial, prompting immediate legal action, the counsel added.
"The court has now clearly restrained the vigilance bureau from conducting any raids on Majithia's properties. Evaluation, if required, can only be done on the basis of items mentioned in the fard jama talashi and only with prior intimation," said Kler.
Dismissing rumours regarding Majithia's alleged special treatment and health issues, Kler said: "He spent over five months in Patiala jail without requesting any facility.

The AAP govt is spreading falsehoods to malign his image. Contrary to reports, his blood pressure is normal. If anyone needs to worry about health, it's the chief minister himself."
The next hearing in the case is scheduled for July 22 and the court has directed the vigilance bureau to submit complete videographic evidence of the raids already conducted. The ruling is being seen as a significant legal victory for Majithia and a political jolt to the ruling AAP.

Bombshell letter claims Governor Walz's involvement as Vance Boelter is indicted for politically motivated killings of Melissa and Mark Hortman
Federal prosecutors on Tuesday(July 15) filed murder and stalking charges against Vance Boelter, 57, in connection with a politically motivated attack that left two prominent Minnesota political figures dead and two others critically wounded. Boelter is accused of killing former Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark Hortman , and of shooting state Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette Hoffman, at their Champlin home during the early morning hours of June 14. The attack, which prosecutors say was premeditated and politically motivated, has shaken lawmakers across the country. 'Vance Boelter planned and carried out a night of terror that shook Minnesota to its core,' said Acting US Attorney Joseph Thompson. 'He carried out targeted political assassinations the likes of which have never been seen in Minnesota.' by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 이 게임은 대부분의 TV 프로그램보다 더 재미있어요 – 게다가 무료예요. Raid: Shadow Legends 플레이하기 Undo According to the indictment, Boelter was found with multiple firearms, tactical gear, and a list of dozens of elected officials, including Wisconsin Sen. Tammy Baldwin and Michigan Reps. Inside his vehicle, authorities discovered five firearms, including assault-style rifles and a 9mm pistol, along with law enforcement-grade body armor and emergency lights. The letter Live Events A two-page handwritten letter found in Boelter's abandoned car has stunned investigators and fueled political outrage. Addressed to FBI Director Kash Patel, the letter contains rambling, conspiratorial accusations, including a claim that Gov. Tim Walz directed Boelter to assassinate Sen. Amy Klobuchar and Sen. Tina Smith to secure political power. 'Tim Walz wanted me to kill Amy Klobuchar,' Boelter wrote, also alleging covert 'off-the-books' military assignments in Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Boelter claimed he refused Walz's request and was threatened in return: 'He said he would hurt my family if I didn't play ball.' Prosecutors dismissed the letter as delusional, but confirmed its authenticity. 'The letter is filled with pure fantasy,' a Justice Department spokesperson said. 'Boelter acted alone, driven by political extremism.' Boelter was apprehended without incident after a two-day manhunt in Green Isle, Minnesota. Officials say he had been preparing for a standoff and living in near-seclusion. Hoffman and his wife were seriously wounded in the attack but survived. The couple had been shielding their daughter during the shooting, authorities said. The Hortmans were killed less than two hours later at their home in Brooklyn Park. The shootings drew national condemnation and renewed concerns over politically motivated violence. Former President Joe Biden paid his respects as the Hortmans lay in state at the Minnesota Capitol. Sen. Amy Klobuchar, who had met with Melissa Hortman just hours before her death, called the killings a 'wake-up call' on the dangers of violent political rhetoric. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether they will pursue the death penalty. Boelter appeared in federal court on Tuesday and pleaded not guilty. A grand jury indicted him on charges of murder, attempted murder, stalking, and firearm violations. 'Today, a grand jury indicted Boelter with the most serious of federal charges for these heinous political assassinations,' Thompson said. 'Let me be clear: Boelter will see justice.'

From morning walk to murder: Land row? CPI worker Kethavath Chandu Rathod gunned down in Hyderabad by 3 attackers, 4th drove getaway car
CPI activist Kethavath Chandu Rathod was shot near Dilsukhnagar, Hyderabad HYDERABAD: A CPI activist, Kethavath Chandu Rathod alias Chandu Naik (47), was shot dead by assailants in front of Shalivahana Nagar park near Dilsukhnagar on Tuesday morning, minutes after his wife and daughter returned home after their morning walk. Police suspect control over a 100-acre Bhoodan land in Kuntloor may be the trigger for the killing. The deceased, who was CPI state council member, was implicated in two murder cases, including one registered at the Nagole police station. Police have identified the accused allegedly involved in the murder as Rajesh, Edukondalu, Prashant and others. Chandu Naik and Rajesh were friends till two years ago, but fell apart after the latter allegedly started collecting money from hut dwellers in the Bhoodan land by offering to provide them pattas. However, Naik opposed it, resulting in a strain in their relations. Rajesh was expelled from CPI-ML (Liberation) Telangana unit while serving as their state general secretary in 2022. Around 7.20 am, the trio completed their walk and exited the park. As Nari and Sindhu started walking towards their home, Naik, speaking with friends, indicated that he would return later. A little later, as he was awaiting for his friend's arrival at his parked two-wheeler, three assailants arrived in a car and threw chilli powder at him. 'Stung by the attack, he came running back towards the park and fell in front of the gate. The assailants fired at him from close range,' Naveen, a local who was near the park, told TOI . After firing multiple rounds, the three accused entered their hatchback and a fourth accomplice drove them towards Malakpet. Police were alerted. 'I was about to remove my shoes and my husband's friend, J Anjaiah, came running. He said my husband was shot at. My daughter and I immediately ran to the spot,' Nari Bai stated. The Malakpet police cordoned off the crime scene and deployed the CLUES Team to gather evidence. 3 bullet injuries 'Assailants came in a Swift and shot him dead. We have seized three empty shells and two live rounds, all of 7.65 mm calibre, from the scene. All of them seem to have been fired from the same kind of weapon. Police said they found three bullet injuries on the body, two just below the chest on the right and one in the head above the right ear. In her complaint to police, Nari Bai alleged Rajesh and his associates harboured a grudge against Naik for exposing their alleged extortion from hut dwellers. Police have registered a case under Sections 103(1) (Murder), 61 (2) (Criminal conspiracy ),115 (1) r/w 3(5) (voluntarily causing hurt) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and provisions of the Arms Act against Rajesh and others. 'An MRPS activist, Bhanu Chander, was bludgeoned to death in an open area near Motkur in 2022 by the followers of Naik. Five persons were named accused and Naik was accused number two. The case is pending trial,' Nagole inspector A Surya Nayak said. The second was also murder case in 2007 in erstwhile Khammam district, sources said.

Threat of US secondary tariffs may sour India's love for Russian oil
File photo: US President Donald Trump (AP) NEW DELHI: The US threat to slap penal tariff on countries buying Russian oil may sour India's love affair with those barrels as the benefit of discounts would outweigh the cost to its merchandise exports to America at a time when both nations are discussing a trade deal. President Donald Trump on Monday announced 100 per cent tariff on Russian exports, including oil, and an equivalent secondary tariffs on countries importing Russian shipments to be imposed after a 50-day deadline for Moscow to end the war with Ukraine. Details of Trump's plan and how it will pan out remain sketchy. The oil market took the announcement calmly as the distant deadline dispelled worries over immediate supply disruption, leaving the benchmark Brent crude below $70/barrel. Indian refiners have been lapping up Russian oil at discounts since February 2022 as others shunned those barrels due to Western sanctions on Moscow after its Ukraine invasion. One-third of country's oil is imported from Russia Russia accounts for a third of India's oil imports, against less than 1% before the war. Things may be different this time if Trump carries through with his threat. This is because, as reports in western media said, secondary tariffs will apply to the country and affect all merchandise exports, unlike the scenario where only the entities doing business with sanctioned Russian entities are penalised. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Đây có thể là thời điểm tốt nhất để giao dịch vàng trong 5 năm qua IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo If that is the case, Indian refiners will have no other way than pivot towards its traditional West Asian suppliers and new players such as Brazil to make up for lost Russian supplies. These new barrels will, however, come at a higher cost, ranging around $4-5/barrel. Arranging alternative supplies will not be difficult, as 'there is enough energy available in the world,' according to oil minister Hardeep Singh Puri. 'Oil prices are still between $65 and $70,' he said on the sidelines of a seminar on education on Tuesday. Govt had approached the two major West Asian countries to ensure supplies through their alternative evacuation routes when apprehension mounted over disruption in shipping through the Strait of Hormuz during the recent Israel-Iran war. Industry watchers said Indian refiners are likely to tank up on cheap Russian oil during the run-up to the deadline, the way they had done during the Israel-Iran conflict, while tying up alternative supplies.
