Two criminals killed in police shoot-out at Jitra expressway
Kedah police chief Datuk Fisol Salleh stated that the suspects opened fire when ordered to stop, leading to an exchange of gunfire. Both suspects died at the scene. Police recovered two firearms—a revolver and a semi-automatic pistol—along with bullets, a machete, and tools linked to criminal activities.
One suspect, aged 41, had over 40 prior criminal records, while the other remains unidentified. Authorities believe they were part of a larger syndicate active since 2020, involved in drug trafficking, armed robberies, and factory break-ins.
Forensic teams found three bullet casings at the scene. The bodies were sent to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital for autopsy. The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder.
Bukit Aman CID acting director Datuk Fadil Marsus confirmed suspicions that the duo were linked to a major criminal network, possibly connected to a Klang-based gang with over 30 members. Police vow intensified operations against such syndicates.

Three Chinese nationals held over use of counterfeit banknotes to pay hotel bill
KUALA LUMPUR: Three Chinese nationals have been arrested for allegedly using counterfeit banknotes to pay for a hotel room in the city. The suspects, aged between 18 and 47, were detained following a police report lodged on July 3, after one of them allegedly used 87 fake RM100 notes to settle a hotel bill totalling RM8,700. Dang Wangi district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman, said the three women are believed to be agents of a counterfeit money syndicate. "Police have opened an investigation paper under Section 489B of the Penal Code for using counterfeit currency. "The suspects have been remanded for six days until July 9 under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code to assist investigations," he said in a statement today. Among the items seized were 87 counterfeit RM100 notes, one RM50 note, one RM20 note, two Louis Vuitton Paris crossbody bags, an access card to a unit identified as 18-03, and three iPhones. Sulizmie urged the public to remain vigilant when handling cash and to follow Bank Negara Malaysia's guidelines for detecting counterfeit currency. "Those who suspect they have received counterfeit money should not circulate the notes but instead report the matter to the police or Bank Negara Malaysia," he said.
