Al-Hilal captain Al-Dawsari out of Club World Cup with hamstring injury
AL-HILAL captain Salem Al-Dawsari will miss the remainder of the Club World Cup with a hamstring injury, the Saudi club said on Saturday.
'Medical tests have confirmed that Salem Al-Dawsari has suffered from a hamstring injury. He will be undergoing a treatment and rehabilitation program that will last between four to six weeks,' Al-Hilal said in a statement via X.
This means Al-Dawsari will miss Monday's round of 16 clash against Manchester City.
Al-Dawsari played a pivotal role in Al-Hilal's campaign in the club world cup, after scoring the opening goal in the team's 2-0 victory over Pachuca on Friday in the third round of the group stage.
The win against Pachuca secured the four-times Asian champions qualification for the last 16 after they finished second in Group H behind Real Madrid.

The Malaysian Snooker and Billiards Federation (MSBF) president Melvin Chia applauded the duo for fighting hard to raise the flag for Malaysia on the international stage again. "There was not much expected from both of them as this was their very first tournament since they represented Malaysia at the Cambodia SEA Games two years ago. "It was a very satisfactory achievement to bring back one gold and one silver. "Our next goal after this is to get ready for the Thailand SEA Games in December," he said. The Malaysian duo can certainly hold their heads high as they had performed well throughout the tournament to enter the final for the first time. Chuan Leong-Kok Leong were impressive earlier as they beat favourites Pakistan A 3-1 to set up a final clash against India, who carved out a 3-2 win over Hong Kong A in the other semi-final match earlier in the day. Malaysia had fought hard to beat Hong Kong B 3-2 to reach the semis and assure a medal.

However, with the right ingredients slow-cooking in the United States summer sun, there has also been plenty to enjoy about the tournament so far. Several stars are getting their encore moments, including Inter Miami's cast of ageing former Barcelona greats, led by Lionel Messi. Now 38, Messi helped the Major League Soccer side make the last 16 against the odds, which coach Javier Mascherano said was 'historic'. Messi's mere presence still provokes intense reactions, including from a young boy in an Argentina shirt at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta in tears before the new NBA-style walk-outs, overcome at the prospect of seeing his hero live. He delivered, too, whipping a superb free-kick into the top corner to earn Miami a shock victory over Porto.
