Ozzy Osbourne 'in the pantheon of rock gods': Elton
He joined Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood and other famous faces in paying tribute to the Black Sabbath singer after his death on Tuesday.
Sir Elton posted on Instagram: "So sad to hear the news of Ozzy Osbourne passing away.
"He was a dear friend and a huge trailblazer who secured his place in the pantheon of rock gods - a true legend.
"He was also one of the funniest people I've ever met. I will miss him dearly. To Sharon and the family, I send my condolences and love. Elton xx."
Wood joined Osbourne at Black Sabbath's last gig at Villa Park, Birmingham, earlier this month.
He posted on X: "I am so very sad to hear of the death of Ozzy Osbourne.
"What a lovely goodbye concert he had at Back To The Beginning in Birmingham."
Singer Yungblud, who sang Black Sabbath's Changes at the Back To The Beginning farewell concert on July 5, said he was "heartbroken" by the news and called Osbourne "the greatest of all time".
"I didn't think you would leave so soon the last time we met you were so full of life and your laugh filled up the room," he wrote in a social media post.
Rock band Motorhead said they had lost a "dear friend" in a post that recalled the band's late vocalist Lemmy's friendship with Osbourne.
"We lost our dear friend today today. Ozzy was a pioneer, a guiding force for all in hard rock and metal, and a great guy too.
"Lemmy and Ozzy were brothers in arms who enjoyed many adventures together, and his loss is seismic. RIP Ozzy, we will always love and celebrate you ...", they wrote.
AC/DC posted that Osbourne's death was a "great loss to all that loved him", with Metallica members calling him an "icon" and "mentor" while sharing photos from rock photographers Ross Halfin and Noah Abrams.
"He taught us how to play in the big leagues while at the same time being warm, welcoming, engaging, and all around brilliant," they wrote on Instagram.
Among the other stars paying tributes were David Beckham, Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong, Queen guitarist Brian May and US movie star Adam Sandler, who said he felt "so happy" that he was able to meet Osbourne.
Sir Brian said Osbourne's final concert earlier in the month "was a glorious way to say goodbye" to the heavy metal vocalist.
Actor Jason Mamoa shared a photo of himself alongside Osbourne and his wife Sharon to Instagram, writing: "Love you @ozzyosbourne All my aloha @sharonosbourne and ohana. So grateful."
Aston Villa, Osbourne's home town football club, said it was "saddened" to learn of the star's passing.
"Growing up in Aston, not far from Villa Park, Ozzy always held a special connection to the club and the community he came from," the club said.
"The thoughts of everyone at Aston Villa are with his wife Sharon, his family, friends, and countless fans at this extremely difficult time."

Sydney Sweeney sparks a $346 million Wall Street surge with new ad
The term meme stock was coined after companies including GameStop and Blackberry saw their share prices surge in 2021 despite little in the way of updates about their underlying performance. The vertiginous rally triggered the collapse of a hedge fund that had bet against GameStop's stock and helped inspire the 2023 film Dumb Money starring Paul Dano. American Eagle's stock was down almost 50 per cent so far this year prior to this week's rally after it pulled its annual forecasts because of tariff uncertainty. The company primarily sources its products from China. Ross Mayfield, an analyst at Baird Private Wealth Management, said meme stocks were a symbol of how stock markets had been 'gamblified'. He said: 'It says to me nothing about the level of interest rates or financial conditions. This is retail traders moving individual stocks that are heavily shorted. 'It reflects more the gambling culture permeating financial markets. These are not being bid up because of a good earnings report. It's because of a Sydney Sweeney ad campaign.' Loading Sweeney, who has 25.2 million followers on Instagram, has fronted campaigns for the likes of Ford, Baskin-Robbins ice cream and luxury fashion brand Miu Miu. As well as being known for her screen roles, Sweeney has become a prominent figure in popular culture and found herself wrapped up in North American culture wars.

Hulk Hogan ‘lost feeling in lower half of his body before death aged 71'
Hulk Hogan is said to have lost feeling in the lower half of his body before his death at the age of 71. The wrestling icon, born Terry Gene Bollea, died in a Florida hospital on Thursday (24.07.25) morning, with police confirming to The U.S. Sun his cause of death was cardiac arrest. It's now been reported he had been using a cane to walk and was recovering from multiple surgeries in the final months of his life. Hulk had suffered from long-term health issues, including chronic back and neck pain from decades in the ring. In February 2023, he was seen walking with a cane, The Sun reported. And a month earlier, 55-year-old fellow wrestler Kurt Angle said the WWE veteran had lost all feeling in his legs after surgery. Speaking on The Kurt Angle Show, Kurt said: 'He had the nerves cut from his lower body. He can't feel his lower body. So (he) uses his cane to walk around.' He added: 'I thought he was using the cane because he had pain in his back. He doesn't have any pain. He has nothing at all. He can't feel anything.' Hulk's representative denied the claim at the time, telling Entertainment Tonight: 'Everything is OK with him. Hulk is someone with a lot of humour.' Hulk had been in and out of hospital in the months before his death. In June, he underwent a four-level Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion – a complex neck surgery. His wife, 45-year-old Sky Daily, told fans on Instagram at the time he was recovering from the 'intense surgery with a long and layered healing process'. She said the operation had also affected his vocal cords and required breathing and feeding tubes. Sky added: 'He's healing and we're taking it one day at a time with love, strength, and patience.' Rumours had spread on social media claiming Hogan was in a coma, which Daily denied. 'No, he's definitely not in a coma!' she said, according to PennLive. She added: 'His heart is strong, and there was never any lack of oxygen or brain damage.' Two days before Hulk's death, his longtime manager, 81-year-old Jimmy Hart, wrote on X: 'Hulk is doing great, doing phenomenal!'
