Eskan Bank sign strategic cooperation agreement with RERA

Biz Bahrain25-04-2025
Eskan Bank signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) to enhance transparency and reliability in the real estate sector by integrating data, exchanging information, and improving market efficiency.
The agreement was signed during the 'Innovation in Social Housing Sector' Summit and Exhibition, held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, under the theme 'Towards Innovative and Sustainable Housing Solutions.'
The agreement aims to link all property-related data listed on the 'Baity' platform with RERA's 'Aqari' real estate information platform. This will enable analysis of demand for different property types and provide insights into consumer behaviour. It will also facilitate comparison and verification of property data across both platforms to ensure accuracy and reliability.
Abdulla Taleb, General Manager of Eskan Bank, said that the agreement with RERA represents a qualitative step in enhancing transparency and efficiency in the real estate sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain. He noted that the agreement would provide accurate data to support property ownership and the development of Eskan Bank's policies and plans. He added that the partnership would enable the bank to offer more effective real estate services while ensuring the highest standards of data reliability on the 'Baity' platform.
He also added that the partnership aims to help develop precise performance indicators for the sector to support ownership and investment decisions for a wider range of beneficiaries. It will also establish new standards for transparency, enhancing the role of the 'Baity' platform in providing integrated housing solutions. These solutions have been presented by property developers to citizens seeking housing units that meet their needs and align with the financing conditions set by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning.
On his part, Ebrahim Mohamed Abul, CEO of RERA, said the cooperation agreement with the 'Baity' platform, affiliated with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning and Eskan Bank, represents a pivotal step in supporting the integration of government real estate data.
He explained that the agreement would allow RERA to access direct and accurate data on the most in-demand housing projects and their prices, as well as information on financing options available to citizens. This will enrich the 'Aqari' platform's database and support the provision of deeper and more reliable analyses for all stakeholders in the sector, including developers, investors, individuals, and financial institutions.
He added that RERA is working to make 'Aqari' a smart, interactive platform that integrates with official entities to promote transparency and provide decision-making tools based on realistic and up-to-date information, contributing positively to the sustainability and efficiency of the real estate market.

Ashura, repatriation and GCC prep dominate Cabinet

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, chaired the weekly Cabinet meeting on Monday, guiding national efforts on three critical fronts - Ashura preparations, crisis response, and the upcoming GCC summit in December. Unity through coordination The Cabinet began its session at Gudaibiya Palace by reviewing the measures taken by authorities to implement the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for the organisation of Ashura. The meeting reaffirmed that openness, tolerance, and unity remain the core values of Bahraini society. Cabinet members emphasised that religious occasions such as Ashura are opportunities to strengthen national cohesion. They welcomed the outcomes of the annual meeting between the Minister of Interior and the General Authority of Husseini Processions, along with ma'atam officials from across the Kingdom. GCC summit preparations Following the royal directives, the Cabinet instructed all relevant ministries to begin coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to prepare for the 46th session of the GCC Supreme Council, which will be hosted in Bahrain this December. The Cabinet expressed confidence that the summit would further strengthen Gulf cooperation and support initiatives that benefit all citizens of the region. Crisis response praised The Cabinet also welcomed the efforts of the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and other authorities in facilitating the safe return of Bahraini citizens stranded abroad during last week's regional escalation. The operation followed the directives of His Majesty the King and the order of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. Gratitude was extended to diplomatic missions of GCC and allied countries whose cooperation contributed to the success of the repatriation efforts. Strategic focus In light of the summer period, the Cabinet approved a temporary shift to a bi-weekly meeting schedule for July and August. This adjustment allows more targeted follow-up on national priorities and international engagements. The Cabinet also reviewed and approved several memorandums, including developments under the Government Priorities Framework 4.0, a transfer of Bahrain's share in the Bahrain Agriculture Development Company to Mumtalakat, trade protection measures within the GCC, and the results of national examinations for ninth and twelfth grades. Additionally, the Cabinet was briefed on recent ministerial engagements abroad and Bahrain's recognition as a leading destination for events at the WOW Asia Awards.

Bahrain Brings DEF CON to GCC

Bahrain is set to make regional history as it welcomes DEF CON, one of the world's most respected cybersecurity conferences, for the first time in the Arab world. The event is being held through a strategic partnership with the Arab International Cybersecurity Conference & Exhibition (AICS). The third edition of AICS will take place on November 5th and 6th at Exhibition World Bahrain, under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. Hosted by the National Cyber Security Center (NCSC), the event will bring together global cybersecurity experts, decision-makers, and industry leaders. Landmark Partnership This year's edition marks a pivotal moment, with Bahrain becoming the first country in the Arab region to collaborate formally with DEF CON. Organisers say the move will significantly raise the technical calibre of the event while offering a new level of interactivity and innovation to attendees. As part of this partnership, AICS will introduce interactive DEF CON Villages focused on emerging security domains such as artificial intelligence, industrial control systems, cloud technologies, and space cybersecurity. Participants will also experience cutting-edge Demo Labs where students, researchers, and startups can showcase cybersecurity tools and ideas directly to global experts. The goal, organisers said, is to nurture talent and encourage disruptive thinking across sectors. Beyond demonstrations, the two-day summit will feature technical workshops, specialised training, high-level panel discussions, and an expansive tech exhibition led by top cybersecurity firms worldwide. Bahrain's Cyber Role Officials say the event strengthens Bahrain's growing reputation as a cybersecurity leader in the region, offering a collaborative platform for public-private dialogue and high-level strategy sharing. The partnership between AICS and DEF CON positions the Kingdom at the forefront of regional cyber capability-building and knowledge exchange.
