King Charles Extends Olive Branch To Disgraced Brother Prince Andrew At Easter Church Service

Yahoo20-04-2025
King Charles and Queen Camilla have attended the traditional Easter Sunday church service at Windsor Castle, just outside London – with no sign of Prince William or Kate Middleton, but disgraced Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson joining the royal party.
Other royal figures to attend the service included the King's sister Princess Anne, Prince Andrew's daughters Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.

The Times of London reported that the group attended Easter Matins in the 15th-century St George's Chapel in Berkshire. This has been the venue of many royal weddings in the past, including that of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in 2017.
The newspaper reports that King Charles continues to receive regular medical treatment, having last year announced he had been diagnosed with cancer. Last week, he joked with crowds outside Durham Cathedral in the north of England that his healthy appearance was 'all smoke and mirrors.'
Charles and Camilla recently celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary, and Camilla told reporters it was the King's work that kept him going, as he continued to recover from illness. The royal couple are expected to host French president Macron on a state visit to London next month. US president Donald Trump has also intimated he may visit the UK in September.
The King's brother Prince Andrew continues to join his family for select royal events, despite incurring more controversy being named as an associate of an alleged Chinese spy. He withdrew from public life in 2019, following his notorious interview with the BBC when he attempted to explain away his longtime association with convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.

‘Harry Potter' star Emma Watson banned from driving for 6 months after speeding offense

Harry Potter actress Emma Watson has been banned from driving for six months after she was caught speeding in her Audi S3, according to British news outlets. The 35-year-old star, who played Hermione Granger in the film franchise, drove 38 mph in a 30 mph zone in Oxford, England, on July 31 last year, BBC reported. The offense was caught on a speed camera on a restricted road in the city. Watson was charged via mail and pleaded guilty on March 3 to the offense. On Wednesday, the actress was sentenced for the violation at a lower court in Wycombe. She did not attend the 5-minute hearing. In addition to the six-month driving ban, the actress will also have to pay £1,044 in fines (roughly $1,400 U.S. dollars), which she has to pay within 28 days. This is Watson's fourth driving offense in less than two years, according to the Daily Mail. She received three points on her license for this July 2024 speeding offense, in addition to nine points from driving offenses in January 2024 and October and November of 2023. Watson was driving her Audi S3 at the time of the speeding incident, which was towed away by police last year after it was illegally parked when she met up with her mom for lunch at a pub across the street, the Mirror reported. The actress has been studying for a doctorate at Oxford University. Coincidentally, in a separate hearing at the same court on July 16, another Harry Potter star was also handed the same sentence for speeding. Zoë Wanamaker, who played Madam Hooch in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, was also banned from driving for six months and fined £1,044 for driving 46 mph in a 40 mph zone in August 2024 in Berkshire, England, according to the Mirror. Like Watson, the 76-year-old also had nine points on her license before the speeding offense. Wanamaker did not attend the sentencing.

The live-action Legend of Zelda movie has cast its princess and hero

Nintendo has revealed the two lead actors for its live-action The Legend of Zelda movie. Bo Bragason is playing the title character, Princess Zelda, while Benjamin Evan Ainsworth is taking on the role of Link, series creator Shigeru Miyamoto announced on X. The performers are around the right ages for their parts — Bragason was born in 2004 while Ainsworth is 16. These are by far the biggest roles to date for both actors, but they each have plenty of experience in front of cameras. Bragason has appeared in Disney+ fantasy series Renegade Nell and BBC crime drama The Jetty, as well as the very enjoyable horror movie Censor and Final Fantasy XV . As for Ainsworth, he voiced Pinocchio in Disney's 2022 live-action remake and appeared in Mike Flanagan's Netflix series The Haunting of Bly Manor . Miyamoto said he is "very much looking forward to seeing both of them on the big screen." Sony Pictures is co-producing the film with Nintendo, while Wes Ball (the Maze Runner series) is directing it. The Legend of Zelda is on track to hit theaters on May 7, 2027.
