Israeli air strikes kill, injury dozens of Palestinians in Gaza
GAZA (WAM)Israeli forces launched another deadly strike on Friday evening, resulting in the killing and wounding of dozens of civilians throughout the Gaza Strip.According to the Palestinian News & Information Agency (WAFA), Israeli warplanes targeted a group of civilians near Al-Hurriya School in the Zeitoun neighbourhood, south of Gaza City, killing five civilians and injuring dozens of others.Several civilians were also killed and others were wounded in an Israeli airstrike that struck a gathering of civilians, including children, east of Al-Shawwa Square on Salah al-Din Street in eastern Gaza City.WAFA confirmed that at least two more civilians were killed in Israeli shelling targeting two residential buildings in the Zeitoun neighbourhood southeast of Gaza City.Additionally, a young girl was killed following an Israeli artillery shelling in the Al-Tuffah neighbourhood, also in eastern Gaza. Meanwhile, a child succumbed to injuries he sustained days earlier after an Israeli strike hit his family's tent in the Al-Mawasi area of Khan Yunis, in southern Gaza.
Medical sources in Gaza hospitals reported that at least 24 civilians had been killed by Israeli forces since dawn today, including 10 people who were waiting to receive humanitarian aid.

US aware of report American killed in West Bank settler attack
The US State Department said on Friday it was aware of the reported death of a US citizen in the Israeli-occupied West Bank after reports emerged of Israeli settlers fatally beating a Palestinian American. Palestinian news agency WAFA, citing the local health ministry, said Saif Al Din Kamel Abdul Karim Musallat, in his 20s, died after he was beaten by Israeli settlers on Friday evening in an attack that injured 10 others in a town north of Ramallah. A second person was also found dead in the area, a Palestinian medical source said. There was no immediate comment from the Palestinian Health Ministry. Relatives of Musallat, who was from Tampa, Florida, were quoted by the Washington Post as saying he was beaten to death by Israeli settlers. "We are aware of reports of the death of a US citizen in the West Bank," a State Department spokesperson said, adding the department had no further comment "out of respect for the privacy of the family and loved ones" of the reported victim. The Israeli military said Israel was probing the incident in the town of Sinjil. It said confrontations between Palestinians and settlers broke out after Palestinians threw rocks at Israelis, lightly injuring them. The military said forces were dispatched to the scene and used non-lethal weapons to disperse the crowds. Settler violence in the West Bank has risen since the start of Israel's war against the Palestinian group Hamas in Gaza in late 2023, according to rights groups. Dozens of Israelis have also been killed in Palestinian street attacks in recent years and the Israeli military has intensified raids across the West Bank. Israeli killings of US citizens in the West Bank in recent years include those of Palestinian American journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, Palestinian American teenager Omar Mohammad Rabea and Turkish American activist Aysenur Ezgi Eygi. The United Nations' highest court said last year Israel's occupation of Palestinian territories, including the West Bank, and settlements there were illegal and should be withdrawn as soon as possible. Israel disputes this, citing historical and biblical ties to the land, which it captured in the 1967 Middle East war. Gaza ceasefire talks held up by Israel withdrawal plans: Palestinian sources
Indirect talks between Hamas and Israel for a ceasefire in Gaza are being held up by Israel's proposals to keep troops in the territory, two Palestinian sources with knowledge of the discussions told the media on Saturday. Delegations from both sides began discussions in Qatar last Sunday to try to agree on a temporary halt to the 21-month conflict sparked by Hamas's attack on Israel on October 7, 2023. Both Hamas and Israel have said that 10 living hostages who were taken that day and who are still in captivity would be released if an agreement for a 60-day ceasefire were reached. But one well-informed Palestinian source said Israel's refusal to withdraw all of its troops from Gaza was holding back progress on securing a deal. "The negotiations in Doha are facing a setback and complex difficulties due to Israel's insistence, as of Friday, on presenting a map of withdrawal, which is actually a map of redeployment and repositioning of the Israeli army rather than a genuine withdrawal," the source said. A second Palestinian source said "some progress" had been made on plans for releasing Palestinian prisoners and getting more aid to Gaza.
