MANCHESTER UNITED have been scouting a holding midfielder from fellow Ineos-owned club Nice as they consider cut-price options.
United sent a scout to Sweden's international friendly against Algeria last week to check on the player, who has been tipped to leave the Ligue 1 club this summer.

The Red Devils' official went to Friends Arena in Solna to monitor Hicham Boudaoui, according to reports in Algeria.
Despite coming off after an hour, with his team trailing 4-0, Boudaoui demonstrated why many in France think he is ready for the Premier League.
The 25-year-old won all of his ground duels and looked unruffled when put under pressure inside Algeria's half.
He also showed a great range of passing with one excellent switch of play out to the right flank.
And he even came close to grabbing a goal with a drilled effort from the corner of the penalty area that flew only a yard or so wide of the far post.
Boudaoui is coming off an excellent season in France in which he emerged as one of the best in Ligue 1 in his position.
In figures published in April by Datascout, he came out on top among 49 defensive midfielders for sprinting speed, fourth for the number of accelerations and sixth for high-intensity distance covered.
Ruben Amorim is desperate to bring players with a more physical profile to the Old Trafford and Boudaoui certainly fits the bill.

The Red Devils were unable to sign players from Nice last summer because both clubs were set to feature in the Europa League.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe agreed not to move any players between the clubs until September 2025 to satisfy Uefa's concerns over multi-club ownership.

That means any deal for Boudaoui cannot take place until the final day of the summer transfer window with the deadline for Premier League clubs set for 7pm on September 1.
Other Premier League clubs have been sniffing around while reports in France have linked Boudaoui, who has two years left on his contract, with unnamed clubs in Spain and Germany.
Nice could demand £20m for the midfielder but transfer funds are likely to be tight at Old Trafford.
United have already splurged £62.5m on Matheus Cunha and may now need to sell in order to finance further high-profile transfers.

However, according to L'Equipe, Maresca recently held talks with Nkunku and made it clear that he could still be part of his project at Stamford Bridge. Maresca appreciates Nkunku's profile and knows squad depth will be needed as Chelsea look to challenge Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City for the title while competing in Europe. Russell Martin launches into extraordinary rant at Rangers players after first league game
Rangers put in an under-par display against Motherwell in their first game of the Scottish Premiership season as the home side snatched a late equaliser to deny the Gers an opening win Rangers boss Russell Martin launched a furious tirade at his players after starting off the Scottish Premiership season with a disappointing 1-1 draw against Motherwell, telling them to "drop their ego". The Gers took the lead through captain James Tavernier but put in a sluggish display and were lucky to keep the score a 1-0 until the end of the game, when Emmanuel Longelo scored a deserved equaliser in the 87th minute. There has been a lukewarm reception to Martin's appointment after he was sacked by Southampton last season prior to their relegation from the Premier League and his poor start will not have helped his cause. Rangers had previously secured their place in the next round of Champions League qualifying following a midweek victory over Panathinaikos, but Martin was fuming with his players' efforts on this occasion as he accused them of "jogging" against Motherwell and said there was a big "mentality" problem at the club. "I think we were lucky to get a point,' Martin said. "Motherwell played great, we were nowhere near where we need to be, I'm extremely disappointed and hurt by that. "I've said to the players … there is a default here at this football club, to revert to type,' Martin told Sky Sports. 'When it's going really well, everyone's all in … when it's not going well, you protect yourself a little bit, self-preservation. "You have to be all in, all the time. We had too many on the pitch today who just did what they wanted to do. When you want to just jog around, there's a big problem. "Some of them have to drop their ego. I'll look at us tactically and accept my responsibility but today wasn't really tactical, it was a mentality problem. We got more than we deserved today." Rangers have a huge task in front of them to catch rivals Celtic in the title race, having not won the Premiership since 2021 and Martin said he had to get to the bottom of why his side were making so many "crazy decisions" - and warned that some stars "wouldn't play very much" if they didn't up their game. 'Today, we go ahead and play some OK stuff," he said. "Every time we get in the final third, we turn the ball over and make crazy decisions. They're either selfish decisions or they're based on anxiety, so we need to get to the bottom of that. Because there was far too much stuff that we haven't worked on or haven't seen. 'It's not me digging them out. I take full responsibility for it. But that hurts me more than anything. Too much ego, too much self-preservation, and you're either all-in all the time or you're not. And if you're not, you just won't play very much." Rangers will quickly switch their attentions to a Champions League third qualifying round match against Viktoria Plzen on Tuesday, with Martin knowing a bad result will further pile pressure on his position.

Falkirk come from behind twice to get the point against Dundee United
The Bairns fans watched the Championship flag being unfurled on the pitch before the game, marking their return to the top flight after a 15-year absence but against the general run of play Max Watters scored his first United goal in the 39th minute with a terrific volley from 14 yards. Dylan Tait levelled in the 50th minute with a fine finish but Ivan Dolcek restored the Tannadice side's lead in the 71st minute, with his first counter for United – only for home defender Ethan Ross to level with a deflected strike two minutes later. A share of the spoils was probably the correct outcome. Falkirk, unchanged, began the game unbeaten in their four Premier Sports Cup games this season. Jim Goodwin's side had won through to the Conference League third qualifiers with a 2-0 aggregate win over Luxembourg side UNA Strassen on Thursday night. Kristijan Trapanovski and Will Ferry missed out through injury, with Watters and Isaac Pappoe, the midfielder on loan from Ferencvaros, taking over. Falkirk, so comfortable on their artificial surface, immediately had United on the back foot, albeit failing to really test visiting goalkeeper Yevhen Kucherenko. The free-flowing Bairns kept pushing forward and in the 20th minute left-back Leon McCann's whipped in cross from the left arrived at Calvin Miller at the back post via a Brian Graham flick but he could not redirect his header towards goal. Kucherenko caused another scare when he was closed down by Ross as he aimed to clear but the ball bounced wide. United had a terrific chance to score on the break in the 26th minute but unmarked Watters' header from a Panutche Camara cross was too tame to unduly bother former Celtic keeper Scott Bain. However, the Taysiders forged ahead following a driving run into the left channel by former Falkirk midfielder Craig Sibbald, whose cross was repelled by Bairns defender Liam Henderson but only to on-loan Barnsley forward Watters, who thrashed the ball behind the helpless Bain. The second half continued in an open fashion and, after United striker Zac Sapsford was booked for diving in the Falkirk box, the home side levelled. Right-back Keelan Adams forced his way to the byline and cut the ball back for skipper Brad Spencer to lay it off to midfielder Tait, who hammered the ball high into the net from 12 yards. The home side had the ascendancy again but United stormed back into the lead after Camara drove forward and set up Dolcek, who beat Bain after his first effort had been blocked. Falkirk returned fire moments later when Ross' deflected shot from 14 yards after taking an Adams cross, wrong-footed Kucherenko. There were further opportunities at both ends in an exciting finale but the two sides sides had to settle for a point apiece.
