‘Agri development, farmer prosperity are top priorities of CM'
The present government is implementing revolutionary programs aimed at uplifting the agriculture sector and ensuring farmer welfare, which have already begun yielding positive outcomes across the province. However, some elements are attempting to distort the facts and spread misconceptions regarding these historic initiatives of the Punjab government.
Minister Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani highlighted that within just one month of taking office, the Chief Minister Punjab initiated multiple agricultural development programs worth Rs. 400 billion — f or the first time in the history of Province. These programs included interest-free loans worth of billions of rupees through Kisan Card, provision of thousands of tractors on subsidy under the Green Tractors Program, and provision of modern agricultural machinery with up to 60% subsidy and many other initiatives.
He added that this is the only Government in Pakistan's history during which no fertilizer shortage has been witnessed. Fertilizer is available in abundance in the market at prices even lower than those fixed by the manufacturers.
Artificial shortages, profiteering, and hoarding of fertilizers have been completely eradicated from the province. He clarified that, during the current season, all provincial governments ceased official wheat procurement under the IMF agreement; however, Punjab remains the only province that extended direct financial support of Rs. 14 billion to small wheat farmers.
During just a short period of two months, more than Rs. 85 billion in interest-free loans have been disbursed to farmers across Punjab for the purchase of fertilizers, seeds, and pesticides for Kharif crops. Of this amount, farmers have already utilized over Rs. 45 billion for the purchase of fertilizers, pesticides, and diesel.
Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani further elaborated on the landmark programs launched during the current fiscal year for the welfare of farmers and agricultural advancement. These include Rs. 200 billion in interest-free loans through the Kisan Card, subsidized provision of 20,000 tractors, solarization of over 10,000 agricultural tube wells, establishment of 10 model agriculture malls, recruitment of 2,000 young agriculture graduates to provide technical support in the field, improvement and lining of watercourses, and a Rs. 30 billion program for the distribution of modern agricultural machinery.

LHC sets aside FIR order against Suleman Shehbaz
Chief Justice Aalia Neelum of the Lahore High Court (LHC) has set aside a district court's order directing the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's son, Suleman Shehbaz, in a cheque dishonour case. The high court held that the lower court failed to properly examine the facts of the matter. Suleman Shehbaz had challenged the July 10 order issued by the district judge, which instructed police to register an FIR against him on charges of issuing a bounced cheque. During the LHC proceedings, Suleman's counsel contended that the district court's decision was not only contrary to law but also passed without a proper review of the factual background. The respondent's counsel alleged that Suleman's company had purchased 17 laptops and issued a cheque for Rs 600,000 in payment, which was later dishonoured. However, Suleman's counsel countered that no laptops were ever delivered to the company's office. He further argued that the cheques in question were stolen by company employees and wrongfully handed over to the respondent. An FIR had already been registered against those individuals, he added. 'The company has no connection with these cheques,' the counsel asserted. Chief justice also questioned the respondent's legal team for failing to specify the date of the alleged laptop purchase. She noted that no purchase receipts bore any official stamp either. After hearing arguments from both sides, chief justice ruled in favour of the petitioner and annulled the district court's order.

Crescent Star Insurance resumes guarantee-backed business
Crescent Star Insurance Limited (CSIL) announced on Thursday that it had resumed its guarantee business. This was shared by the company in a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange today. The CSIL said that the Islamabad High Court had set aside and declared void the directions issued to the company by SECP to stop/cease guarantee business. Last year, the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) ceased the guarantee business through a direction, under Section 60 of the Insurance Ordinance, 2000 (Ordinance). Crescent Star had issued guarantees amounting to Rs 229 billion without obtaining requisite collateral and any valid reinsurance arrangements. The CSIL was incorporated in Pakistan as a Public Limited Company in the year 1957, under the Companies Act, 1913, now the Companies Act, 2017. The company is engaged in providing non-life general insurance services.

‘China's strategic red line: unwavering support for Pakistan'
This is apropos a letter to the Editor titled above carried by the newspaper on Tuesday. This contrast with India's rapid attribution and response has underlined China's preference for due process over punitive adventurism, but with a red line: Pakistan's sovereignty is non-negotiable. Professor Gao's statements are matched by facts on the ground. Over 60 percent of Pakistan's current military arsenal originates from China. This includes: JF-17 Thunder fighter jets, co-developed with China, Yuan-class submarines, providing second-strike capabilities, HQ-series air defense systems, complementing Pakistani strategic depth and P-10 and P-15 cruise and ballistic missiles, enhancing Pakistan's tactical reach. Recent reports indicate the arrival of Chinese Y-20 cargo aircraft in Pakistan, allegedly delivering defense equipment and signaling readiness for joint preparedness. This growing military interoperability indicates that the China-Pakistan military alliance is not theoretical—it is active and deepening. Professor Gao underscored this in the clearest terms: 'You are talking about a war between Pakistan and India on the one hand, and then you are talking about an ironclad alliance between China and Pakistan, and China's full commitment to defend Pakistan's sovereignty and territorial integrity.' Professor Gao's statements expand China's security perimeter beyond its own borders. By stating that China's alliance with Pakistan would activate against 'any country' threatening its integrity, he has laid out a doctrine that potentially covers US operations, Indian offensives, or multilateral actions that challenge Pakistan's territorial claims or strategic interests.
